About a month ago, my brother and his boyfriend adopted a rescue puppy, Yoshi. Yoshi is a tiny little nugget of a dog:
Yoshi is all settled-in and vaccinated, so a few days ago, my brother brought him to our house for a visit. They arrived while Annabel was at school and Rigby was at the groomer, so at first it was just James and Yoshi. Or as James called him, “Woah-shi,” as in, “C’mon, Woah-shi, let’s go!”
And Yoshi was like, “Yes, I will follow you everywhere.”
Anything James did, Yoshi wanted in on…
…and vice-versa:
I brought Rigby home from the groomer about 30 minutes after Yoshi arrived. Normally Rigby gets home from the groomer and, after resentfully ignoring me for a few minutes, passes out next to me on the couch. Getting groomed is hard work. So when she got home and discovered a puppy in her house she was like, “What the actually hell is happening here?” She just wanted to watch some Netflix and she had to deal with a child (story of my life).
Meanwhile, Yoshi was like, “OMG ANOTHER DOG OMG PLAY WITH ME PLAY WITH ME PLAY WITH ME!”
Rigby’s face is like, “Can I live?” She does not have time for these youthful shenanigans.
When it was time to get Annabel at school, Yoshi and Kyle joined me. Yoshi took every opportunity to jump in flowers and annoy bees:
Annabel couldn’t believe Yoshi was at her school, and made sure to point him out to all of her new friends. She said it earned her, “Like a thousand million cool points.” Oh, super.
While Annabel did her homework, Rigby and Yoshi finally bonded. Maybe because they were doing Rigby’s favorite thing, sitting.
They also combined their powers of cuteness to try to snag some people food (it didn’t work).
It was a crazy day for young Yoshi, and during the rare moments when one of the kids wasn’t playing with him, he napped.
Of course, Annabel wanted to help Yoshi feel better.
“Sleep, little Yoshi! Take a nap, you’ll be happy you did!”
Yoshi is so adorable, but man, I love Rigby. She used to to be a crazy bundle of energy like Yoshi, but now that she’s closing in on 11 she loves to just snuggle and relax. The kids are now asking for a puppy, but we are a one-dog house. I don’t need a puppy right now…I have a James.

Awwww….Yoshi & Rigby are so cute together! Where did your brother get the name Yoshi? So cute. And he totally looks like a Yoshi. He really IS a nugget of a dog. Will he get any bigger? I’m thinking…not by much. It’s so funny with older dogs get together with little puppies. For the most part, they get annoyed with all the youthfulness. It cracks me up!

Also love he’s a rescue puppy. We have 2 and it’s always going through my mind… how could no one want them!? They are just so full of love. Not that breeders’ dogs aren’t… it’s just a different kind of love. Knowing you’re giving them everything when someone actually chose not to.
We also have moved past the puppy stage; mostly now because we have a daughter. But too because people seem to leave the elderly dogs behind at the shelter and they *might* need the love the most.

Yoshi is just the right size next to James–he must have loved not having to share for a while there!
As for Rigby coming home and just wanting to chill, I soooo get that!!!
And of course get picked up by an uncle and a puppy earned Annie cool social status points, same with my niece last spring when I picked her up with the puppy I was babysitting! It just…happens! LOL

Oh my goodness. I could write a similiar post about our 4 yo pug Lola and Russ, our 11 week old pug. That gif describes their entire relationship. Lola does NOT want him around, all she wants to do is sleep and eat. All Russ wants to do is play and be hyper. It’s a mess. A cute mess, but still a mess!!

That is a ridiculously cute puppy! Does your brother know the breed? Looks like it has a decent amount of border terrier in it to me (and actually looks a lot like our Irish terrier did as a puppy, although it is too small for an Irish probably)

I thought I would share my dog biscuit recipe with you – its quick and easy to make and our two german shepards would do anything for them:
Super easy dog biscuits
No sugar is used in this recipe for bran muffins, and they’re great for sneaking in veggies and fibre. These muffins can be baked and frozen in plastic separately for easy retrieval as needed.
Ingredients
2 cups whole-wheat flour (you can use another type of flour if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup peanut butter, chunky or smooth
1 1/4 cups hot water
Additional flour for rolling
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C. Mix dry ingredients together, then mix in the peanut butter and hot water. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky. Knead the dough well, then roll it out to 1cm thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters or roll into balls and push flat with the tines of a fork.
Optional egg wash: To give the biscuits a golden glow once baked, whisk one egg and brush it over each biscuit.
Bake the biscuits on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before serving or storing.
To store: Keep biscuits in a sealed container at room temperature for up to one week, or in the fridge for up to three weeks. Biscuits can be frozen for up to six months.
