Last weekend we went to a birthday party at one of those fun places full of inflatables. Annabel had fun in the zipline inflatable, but James was obsessed with the inflatables where he could climb obstacles and race down the “big swide.” He especially loved the gigantic slide, and would climb all the way up to the top all by himself, and then fling his body down the slide.
Except this one time, when he decided to come down a different way (look to the top left).

Thank goodness no one else was going up the stairs!
(He was totally fine and went on the slide about ten more times…and went down the right way every other time!)

Adventurous children always find a different way.
A child at the back of us had a bouncy castle for her birthday party. On the side wall was a small slide that was covered over so it had a little roof. Several of the children decided that bouncing on this flappy piece was much more exciting. Oh and the first one to do it was a girl.

Heh. Reminds me of my toddler. He’s also done the same thing on regular slides, bounced all the way down to the ground, gotten up stunned and kept on going. I’ve learned not to react to see what happens and nine times out of 10 he doesn’t notice he’s fallen or he could have gotten hurt.
Meanwhile my eldest who had sensory issues would only ever slide down on her belly until she was over 3 because otherwise she’d get freaked out about the air displacement (really really).

at our local park there is a plastic toddler playset. Logan likes to bump himself down the stairs as opposed to the slide. Definitely a boy thing.
