My mom, Annabel, and I are currently in New York City. I have some meetings here on Monday, and since Annabel doesn’t have school that day I thought it would be fun to make it a girls’ weekend with her and my mom. It’s a quick trip – we got in just before midnight on Friday and we’ll get back on Monday night – but we’re packing in as much as possible. Annabel was so excited to fly on a plane and we gave her the window seat, ensuring this would be the greatest trip ever, even if we never left our hotel room.

Around The ‘Net
~These Women Did Something About Stereotypical Girls’ Clothes Some seriously rad shirts.
~These kids can’t sit still. And that’s exactly the point of this new reading classroom. This would have been so good for me when I was in school.
~Dodger Stadium chef Dave Pearson remembered warmly Dave was a gem of a man. When I worked there, he always asked about “the baby” (Madeline) every time I went through his line. He made beautiful food that I still dream about, and had an even bigger smile that I’ll never forget. I am saddened his battle is over – he will be SO missed.
~My brother is currently at the Toronto Film Festival, screening a bunch of cool movies that will be coming out soon. The one I’m excited to see is The Martian, about an astronaut who gets left behind on Mars and has to survive alone for years until NASA can rescue him. My brother said in his review that he was surprised by the film, in a good way! Movies like this one and Apollo 13 and Gravity remind me that I like being on the Earth very, very much. Nothing good ever happens in space!
Stitch Fix Giveaway
~I am going to do some fun giveaways over the next few weeks, just because you guys are all so awesome. I write a lot about Stich Fix and the clothes I get from there, and I thought it would be fun to do a little (completely unsponsored) Stitch Fix giveaway! When you get a Stitch Fix box mailed to you, you are charged a $20 styling fee. The $20 is applied as a credit toward anything you keep from your shipment (or Stitch Fix keeps it if you don’t like anything in your box). I’m going to cover the styling fees for three readers so they can try Stitch Fix at no cost (or if you already get fixes, your next styling fee is on me!). To enter, leave me a comment telling me which style you most identified with on the Style Profile. I personally am Boho/Casual/Edgy! I’ll pick winners via Random.org on Friday, September 18. Open to anyone who lives where Stitch Fix ships. Good luck!
Happy Sunday, everyone!
I decided to pick four winners, and according to Random.org, they are:
Look for emails from me!
Thank you to everyone who entered – I wish I could give everyone $20 to try but Mike would kill me. I’ll do another Stitch Fix giveaway in a month or two!
