I have partnered with Dove for National Healthy Skin Month. Thanks, Dove!

Winter is a weird time for Californians because it isn’t always cold. I mean, it is winter, so it’s still cool, but there are days when it’s warm enough to go out in what would be considered a summer dress anywhere else. There are days where the weather in the evening is thirty degrees cooler than it was during the day. Of course, there are also cold and windy days when there’s no mistaking that it’s winter (in a California-way). All this winter weather weirdness, and the dry air that comes with it, definitely takes a toll on my skin.

My skin is very sensitive even when the weather is good. I sunburn very easily, and if I get bit a bug bite it swells up terribly. Remember all the bites I got on my honeymoon? Any little thing sets my skin off.

(I chose a photo that doesn’t show my festering bites. You’re welcome.)

In the winter, though, my skin fares even worse. It gets super dull, dry, and itchy, and it looks and feels awful. In the past I’ve tried to combat this dryness by applying oodles of lotion, but that just left me feeling sticky all day long and stinking of flowers or whatever other scent my lotion had. Several years ago, I started using Dove Moisturizing Body Wash and I will never use anything else. I noticed a difference in my skin immediately! I step out of the shower with my skin feeling soft and smooth, like I’ve already put on lotion, and that feeling lasts until my next shower. I didn’t think their formula could improve on what was already so great, but the Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash with NutriumMoisture is even more gentle on my skin, plus it smells great – clean without being overpowering.

The funny thing is that I’m not the only person who uses Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash in our house. Mike always seems to have conveniently “just run out of” his body wash this time of year, and ends up using mine instead. He gets dry skin in the winter too, so I don’t give him grief for using my body wash since I see how much it helps him, too. It’s no surprise that Dove, the #1 Dermatologist and Pediatrician recommended brand, is also the #1 brand used personally by Dermatologists and Pediatricians at home.

I have a couple other tricks for keeping your skin feeling good in the winter, like using a humidifier at night and drinking a lot of water, but Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash with NutriumMoisture is key – I can skip the humidifier or skimp on drinking water, but my skin is almost unbearably dry if I wash even once without Dove. Plus, my skin is always ready to be showed off in one of my “winter” dresses!
