What a week! Halloween (yay), my Dodgers lost the World Series (darn), I had a 24-hour stomach bug (ew), and we took James to his first college football game (hilarious). Yesterday morning I was out running errands and discovered that every store already has Christmas out. Normally, this kind of thing would bother me, but I’ve been in the dumps with Maddie’s birthday this week so a little bit of holiday cheer was nice. Not that I’m going to start putting up my Christmas lights or anything, but I may have thrown an ornament or three into my cart.
Haul out the holly, put up the tree before my spirit falls again.

Holiday Prep
Speaking of Christmas, I’m all about Respecting The Turkey but I also like getting a jump on things. So…..
~If you’re one of those people who is always on top of your holiday cards, Minted has a $25/off special if you’ve never ordered with them before.
~Fans of Fixer Upper likely already know this, but today the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia line is out at Target, and they have some super-cute holiday decor.
~We have a Christmas stocking for every member of our family, and this year Schuyler gets one! All our stockings are from Pottery Barn and they are cute as heck. They don’t make our line of stockings anymore but this one of a dog tangled in lights is pretty close…and it’s on saaaaaaale.
~Target has 12 Days of Socks calendars. You need them. We all do.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

Thank you for sharing the story about the Iowa Hawkeyes. I’m a born, raised (still here) Iowa girl and my blood runs black and gold, a loyal Hawkeye from day one. Kinnick Stadium is my “happy place” and this new tradition is beyond heartwarming. To say we are so proud of this story would be a huge understatement. Thank you for sharing the story.
Melissa says:
We have the same line of stockings! I think they are actually from Pottery Barn Kids, they still have some that match. And today they are offering free shipping and free personalization! I have to go dig out our stockings now and make sure I don’t order the same one.
Heather says:
Ahhh, you’re right! Dang, I already ordered the other one. I’m so mad at myself!!!

I think I saw Christmas up in Oregon in October. Sigh. Pretty soon I am anticipating that people will go trick or treating in Santa outfits gnawing on a drum stick from their Thanksgiving turkey.
