Last night some friends and I went to the Hollywood Bowl to see the last stop on Idina Menzel’s world tour. She has such an amazing, powerful voice, and she did a great show in a very daunting venue – the Hollywood Bowl is ENORMOUS. It was great to hear her do some of my favorites, like Defying Gravity and No Day But Today, and, of course, Let It Go, but my favorite song she did was a rendition of Radiohead’s Creep. I love it when musicians do unexpected things at concerts. I highly recommend seeing Idina live if you’re a fan!

~ASU Sorority Girls Teased For Taking Selfies at Diamondbacks Game These announcers should be ashamed of themselves – the entire stadium was taking selfies for a contest! And, when the Diamondbacks tried to make it up to the sorority by offering them free tickets, the sorority asked that the team donate to a local domestic violence organization instead.

~One of the ways I take time to relax is to give myself a manicure. It’s a good way for me to sit still for 30 minutes and chill out! Anyway, I tried a new top coat this week and it’s so amazing I wanted to share – the Essie Gel Setter Top Coat. It has made my manicure last twice as long as usual. Normally I have chips in my nails after 24 hours, but I made it more than 72 before there was any noticeable wear on my fingers. That’s huge for me!
He Named Me Malala
~Last month I saw an advanced screening of the film, He Named Me Malala, and was blown away. It was fascinating to see footage of this young woman, who seems larger than life, interacting with friends at school and fighting with her brothers – you know, acting like a normal kid (she was only 17 when the movie was filmed). I definitely recommend seeing it if you can (it’s starting to be released nationwide). There is footage of the aftermath of her shooting, with some images of her bandaged head and the blood-stained bus where she was shot, so while I think it’s a very important film for kids to see, keep that in mind before you take them along.
Hatch for Kids giveaway
~A lot of you have commented on my kids’ shirts from a company called Hatch for Kids. I have been a huge HfK fan for a couple years now. They have great shirts, sweatshirts, and hats for kiddos – the clothes are SO soft and comfortable.
The cool people at Hatch for Kids want to give one of my readers at $50 card to spend in their store! To enter, just leave a comment telling me your favorite thing they sell. I love Annabel’s Kindergarten sweatshirt (she had the Preschool sweatshirt, too!), and I love that their stuff is gender-neutral so James will be able to wear Annabel’s old stuff! Contest is open to US Residents only (but they do ship worldwide!). Winner will be chosen next Sunday by Random.org. Good luck!
Happy Sunday, everyone!
EDIT: WE HAVE A WINNER!
The winner is Mel J! Congrats, Mel, look for an email from me.
Thanks to everyone who entered!
I love the Preschool sweatshirt!
I’m partial to the Save Ferris t-shirt because they filmed the movie in my hometown. They painted “Save Ferris”‘ on the water before the movie came out so everyone was like, “What the hell is Save Ferris?”.
I love the Ferris Bueller t-shirts. I like that my son would have a shirt that no one his age would even remotely understand! lol
I really like the Thriller shirt!

Save ferris onesie!! (Baby and husbands last name)
Stay Gold tee, even if I don’t win I’m going to have to get that one for my son.

Love the Nest tee too
I love the Save Ferris onesie!
so, do they have a hatch for adults yet? Cause I need that Breakfast club shirt in my size. Such a cool website!
I will enter anyway for my friends’ kids. It’s a tie between the hangry shirt and Breakfast club shirt currently. (the one annie’s wearing)
I’ve always found it interesting how people never talk about the “well-regulated” phrase in regards to gun control. It’s pretty obvious right now that it is NOT WELL REGULATED. I don’t understand. I also don’t get how people say that gun control (note: not BANNING guns. No one is saying to ban guns entirely, just better regulation) is a bad thing. Almost every other civilised country has gun control much stricter than ours, and whaddayaknow? They have very little gun violence! imagine that!! It boggles my brain.
I’m excited for the Malala doc. I need to read her memoir!!
Gonna read the rest of the sunday articles later, but love what I’ve read thus far
I love the Horton Hears the Who’s tee. But my 8 year old son loves the lite brite crimson ghost tee. I might have to order him that.
I love just about everything Hatch for Kids sell, but really love the Invader Tee.
I like the Nest tee

1) I saw Idina in Atlantic City in July and she blew me away! Loved Creep and the acapella version she did of For Good. Love her!
2) If you love to relax and do your nails you should check out Jamberry. They don’t chip. Ever!
3)I checked out the website and my fave is the love punk tee.
I change my color too much for Jamberry to be a good investment for me
I don’t do my nails but my sister loves it. She changes them about once a week. So many cute designs!
I love the thriller tee for my little guy. It would be perfect for Halloween!
Kristie Smith says:
The Outsiders ‘Stay Gold’!! Love it! 100%
My son would love the Thriller shirt or the Lego one!
It’s a tie between the Thriller and the Bueller shirt!
Hands down, the Lloyd Dobbler shirt is my favorite. A must have.
I totally want the “Mija” tank for my spunky little Latina!

I love the “Say Anything” shirt (Lloyd holding up the boombox)! I wish they made it for adults.
Kathryn K says:
I love the Preschool/ Kindergarten sweatshirts too!
Love the Preschool long sleeve. Save Ferris, and Bender shirts need to be in my boys’ closets too!
The Save Ferris tee is the winner in my book.
I love it!
LOVE LOVE the say anything T-shirt. And the Lost Boys t-shirt is pretty cool since my uncle’s band had a song on that soundtrack back in the day!
And I second the Jamberry suggestion. I don’t sell them, but I love them. I don’t have time to paint my nails every few days, but I can find a few minutes every weekend or every other weekend to put on new Jams to cover my ugly psoriasis nails.
Definitely the “Bueller… Bueller…” t-shirt!
Thriller Tee-get ready to order it now:)
Kristin C says:
Fan of the Save Ferris t-shirt!
I love the Kindergarten sweatshirt…and the Say Anything shirt too!
I respectfully disagree with your ASU selfie comment:
1. Can’t we laugh at ourselves anymore. Obviously I don’t know the intentions of the announcers, but it did not seem mean spirited to me.
2. I have a teenage daughter who showed me the video. Her take was that we (her parents) sounded like the announcers who had nothing better to do than make comments about all the selfies she take. We both had a good laugh and moved on.
I thought it was mean-spirited in that the entire stadium was taking pictures, but the announcers made it sound like it was just these women doing it.

The Bender tee. For shizzle.

The Kindergarten tee!
The shirts are so cute. I can’t pick just one favorite I love both of the Ferris Bueller shirts and the ODB Stay Gold tee.
Even if I don’t win I’m going to buy one of the Ferris shirts & the ODB one for my daughter.
Also I forgot to add that when I read the “I reported my rape” story originally I was in tears. My heart is broken for the entire family. How is this even happening in 2015 in the US.

I love the rad hat!
Jenna Lockhart says:
I love the save ferris t-shirt and the preschool sweatshirt!
My absolute favorite tee is the Mickey Punk Reglan and I’m super disappointed I wasn’t able to score one when they were available, the straight outta Portland is also very cool… We receive compliments everywhere we go!
Angelica Rubi says:
Our personal hatchforkids fave is our preschool sweater. I’ve heard it’s a play off animalhouse but we love it as an acknowledgment of a stage, pre-school. Identifying it as a learning time and process that is special to us mothers before they start school
