Last night some friends and I went to the Hollywood Bowl to see the last stop on Idina Menzel’s world tour. She has such an amazing, powerful voice, and she did a great show in a very daunting venue – the Hollywood Bowl is ENORMOUS. It was great to hear her do some of my favorites, like Defying Gravity and No Day But Today, and, of course, Let It Go, but my favorite song she did was a rendition of Radiohead’s Creep. I love it when musicians do unexpected things at concerts. I highly recommend seeing Idina live if you’re a fan!

~ASU Sorority Girls Teased For Taking Selfies at Diamondbacks Game These announcers should be ashamed of themselves – the entire stadium was taking selfies for a contest! And, when the Diamondbacks tried to make it up to the sorority by offering them free tickets, the sorority asked that the team donate to a local domestic violence organization instead.

Long-Lasting
~One of the ways I take time to relax is to give myself a manicure. It’s a good way for me to sit still for 30 minutes and chill out! Anyway, I tried a new top coat this week and it’s so amazing I wanted to share – the Essie Gel Setter Top Coat. It has made my manicure last twice as long as usual. Normally I have chips in my nails after 24 hours, but I made it more than 72 before there was any noticeable wear on my fingers. That’s huge for me!
He Named Me Malala
~Last month I saw an advanced screening of the film, He Named Me Malala, and was blown away. It was fascinating to see footage of this young woman, who seems larger than life, interacting with friends at school and fighting with her brothers – you know, acting like a normal kid (she was only 17 when the movie was filmed). I definitely recommend seeing it if you can (it’s starting to be released nationwide). There is footage of the aftermath of her shooting, with some images of her bandaged head and the blood-stained bus where she was shot, so while I think it’s a very important film for kids to see, keep that in mind before you take them along.
Hatch for Kids giveaway
~A lot of you have commented on my kids’ shirts from a company called Hatch for Kids. I have been a huge HfK fan for a couple years now. They have great shirts, sweatshirts, and hats for kiddos – the clothes are SO soft and comfortable.
The cool people at Hatch for Kids want to give one of my readers at $50 card to spend in their store! To enter, just leave a comment telling me your favorite thing they sell. I love Annabel’s Kindergarten sweatshirt (she had the Preschool sweatshirt, too!), and I love that their stuff is gender-neutral so James will be able to wear Annabel’s old stuff! Contest is open to US Residents only (but they do ship worldwide!). Winner will be chosen next Sunday by Random.org. Good luck!
Happy Sunday, everyone!
EDIT: WE HAVE A WINNER!
The winner is Mel J! Congrats, Mel, look for an email from me.
Thanks to everyone who entered!

I’m partial to the Save Ferris t-shirt because they filmed the movie in my hometown. They painted “Save Ferris”‘ on the water before the movie came out so everyone was like, “What the hell is Save Ferris?”.

I’ve always found it interesting how people never talk about the “well-regulated” phrase in regards to gun control. It’s pretty obvious right now that it is NOT WELL REGULATED. I don’t understand. I also don’t get how people say that gun control (note: not BANNING guns. No one is saying to ban guns entirely, just better regulation) is a bad thing. Almost every other civilised country has gun control much stricter than ours, and whaddayaknow? They have very little gun violence! imagine that!! It boggles my brain.
I’m excited for the Malala doc. I need to read her memoir!!
Gonna read the rest of the sunday articles later, but love what I’ve read thus far

I respectfully disagree with your ASU selfie comment:
1. Can’t we laugh at ourselves anymore. Obviously I don’t know the intentions of the announcers, but it did not seem mean spirited to me.
2. I have a teenage daughter who showed me the video. Her take was that we (her parents) sounded like the announcers who had nothing better to do than make comments about all the selfies she take. We both had a good laugh and moved on.
Heather says:
I thought it was mean-spirited in that the entire stadium was taking pictures, but the announcers made it sound like it was just these women doing it.
Terri Garrett says:
The Bender tee. For shizzle.
Livia Huang says:
The Kindergarten tee!
steph says:

Also I forgot to add that when I read the “I reported my rape” story originally I was in tears. My heart is broken for the entire family. How is this even happening in 2015 in the US.
