Happy Easter and happy Pesach to everyone celebrating this weekend! This past week was a crazy one for me. Not only were the kids out on Spring Break, I also started a new freelance job. By the time 6pm rolled around every day, I was BEAT. I’m looking forward to the kids going back to school this week so I can settle into a good working routine…but not before we stuff our faces with chocolate and eggs and ham today! I’ve been looking forward to my mom’s Easter brunch for weeks. Oh and also looking forward to spending time with my family. Of course.

I Don’t Wanna Grow Up
We took the kiddos to Toys R Us yesterday for one last trip before the store closes. The sales aren’t particularly great yet — most things were 5-10% off, with a few items marked at 30% — but we tracked down a few good deals. It’s sad such an iconic chain is closing. I have so many memories of wandering the aisles of the store with my brother, imagining what we’d buy if we won the lottery. I guess Annie and James will be Amazon Kids instead of Toys R Us kids.
Fun Stuff
The Easter Bunny brought a few nice gifts for my kiddos.
~Annie received the first three “A Series of Unfortunate Events” books, plus this pretty “A” necklace.
~James got a Minecraft hoodie and a Tower of Terror Tsum Tsum.
~The bunny gave both kids a game called Toilet Trouble. I am not pleased with the Easter Bunny’s decision to give them this.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

I’m kind of sad about Toys R Us closing as well! Full disclosure – I hate going there. The mountains of plastic usually make me want to take a vow of minimalism rather than pull out my wallet. But.. But.. I wanna be a Toys R Us kid! They won’t know the sooooooong! haha.
It is a bummer though. No other store has the toy supply that TRU has.. It does make me wonder where I’ll go when it’s the first warm weather day of the season and I want to get a swing for my kid (or whatever). Amazon is great but it doesn’t replace same day shopping when the ball pit pops mid playtime and you need a new one omgrightNOW. The end of an era.

I was devastated when I heard Toys R Us and Babies R Us were closing. I do love shopping online but its not the same with toys and how much fun it is to actually shop in a toy store. We went to ours on Friday night here in Columbus, Ohio and were told they are not going to probably close until June. They said they are still hoping for a buyer and that the owner of Little Tykes is trying to keep them open. One can only hope!

I’m so happy you have the article on the couple that cracked the lottery – that was such a great read!
