When I moved in with Mike, he had a fridge that I’m pretty sure was from the 1950′s. It was…not pretty. But beyond the looks, it was an awful fridge. It froze over all the time. We would have to defrost the entire thing at least once a week. We did this for YEARS. And finally I said, ENOUGH OMG I CANNOT LOSE ONE MORE GALLON OF ICE CREAM!
Then the opportunity came along for us to get a new refrigerator from Sears and Kenmore. It is shiny. Meet Freeman the Fridge. I named it Freeman, because it is distinguished like the actor Morgan Freeman.
It doesn’t freeze over, so my ice cream is in perfect condition. This makes me hug it.
It has a special spot JUST for Mike’s Diet Cokes.

Sears just introduced a whole bunch of amazing new small appliances for the kitchen, stuff that I’m kind of drooling over (especially if I baked).

I need to be the winner of this giveaway, and there are three very important reasons why.
1. I, too, feel compelled to propose lifelong marriage to the new Spohr fridge.
2. I don’t have a toaster. The reason I do not have a toaster (and therefore, never any toast, which makes me very sad) is that my parents and husband hate me. You see, this is the only explanation I can tease out of the facts, which are these: I love toast, everyone knows so. I was given a beautiful fancy-schmany 4-slice as a birthday gift when I turned 21. Seriously. I loved it. My parents? They stole it. They are still harboring the poor kidnapped dear in their cabinets. As for my husband, he guilt-tripped me into letting him get a toaster OVEN, the only thing with which I am able to do is light food on fire. OMG THE BLENDER. My blender is a $15 no-name from Target because I had a really nice old one from my parents, the base cracked, and it was no longer usable. The one I have now is way too weak to make the smoothies I like, and I am routinely broken hearted by this. However, I am also a law student with no money!
I would name my blender after Cameron from Modern Family. Cameron seems like a smoothie-maker, and also: I name all my appliances after fictional characters. My phone is named Hiro Nakamura from Heroes, my computer is Archie Johnson from CSI (the computer geek!), my iPod is FRANK XAVIER’S FRANKENPOD (from a short story I wrote; I guess you had to be there for that one).
Naming appliances is AWESOME. I have not named my fridge or stove here because this is an apartment, and rental appliances do not earn names. That’s right, fridge and stove; you are not mine, and are therefore lesser beings.

i’d LOVE the toaster oven…i NEED the toaster oven…the last one i had back in my OLD college days, got ruined b/c i left a loaf of bread on top of it while it was hot…so it made a big ole’ melted hot/sticky/grosss mess…and i haven’t had a toaster oven since…but i’ve really wanted one. i’ve learned my lesson…no more loaves of bread on top of the toaster oven…no no no…bad idea. i know that now. i’d name her tollie… : ) my sweet tollie! who’d make me wonderful things for breakfast, lunch, dinner, AND SNACKS…who could ask for more??!!

He said it reminds him of Hal9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey (which I have never seen and had to google to make sure I got the title and spelling right.) Hal seems like a good name though.

Oh how badly I need the toaster oven. Our oven gave out, the stove still works, but the oven only spews gas when you turn it on. Obviously I dont turn it on anymore, so Toasty the toaster oven would save me a lot of grief, and I could make muffins again!

LOVE your fridge, total freezer envy! (Mine freezes over like an ice rink, and randomly leaks water into the fridge!) The blender or toaster oven would have a very good home, and the name for either would be, “Honey you’re right” addressed to my hubby!
The blender story: After we were married my hubby made smoothies with our brand new blender, so I offered to clean it. As I was taking it apart, he said,”I don’t think that part comes off.” It sure did, only it never worked after that! honey was right.
The toaster story: At our first house hubby came home from walmart with fish and a new toaster oven. So I seasoned the fish and put it in the new oven. Hubby said, ‘I think you need to cover the fish with tinfoil’ I thought it was fine, nope, the toaster still smells like cooked fish and the inside forever tells the story.
Moral of the story, hubby is sometimes right, and I should stick to baking!

I want and need the food processor. I am a mom of 3 and breast cancer survivor who is really trying to eat healthy and cheaply. My husband got laid off of his job of 30 years recently, started a new one and then heard last week there is a lay off at the new company in Dec. due to shipping all the computer work overseas. I do tons of canning, cooking, etc. and this would make life easier. I would name him choppy.
I need that toaster oven! (I don’t even have a regular toaster, for that matter. No toast in this house.) I would name it John, because toaster ovens are just so practical, and John is a practical name.

A demon has taken up residence in my blender and refuses to leave. The stainless steel one (just to make my mother in law drool) would sit in its honored position on the counter. I promise to keep her safe with copious amounts of coconut rum (to keep out the evil spirits and provide me with pina coladas) and I would name her BLISS. Oh my gosh, I soooo need the mixer. I have this sad little hand mixer that I’ve been using for years, which was fine before I had a kids and actually wanted to bake things. I tried to make some chocolate chip cookies for my boy the other day and I thought the mixer was going to die on me. I’d lower it into the bowl and hear this “ungh…ungh… ungh… ungh” as it tried to mix the ingredients. The second I lifted it out of the bowl, it would go back to merrily spinning and humming, unhindered by flour, sugar, butter and eggs. Seriously, the poor thing can’t handle it. If I won that beautiful, darling, precious mixer I would name it Devo, because it would whip it, whip it good. And I would love it and squeeze it and pet it and hug it and give it kisses every day. Thank you.
Oh, and since it would be named Devo, the mixer would be red, of course.

This is a hard choice! While I’m drooling over the red stand mixer for my red/white retro kitchen, I am not ready to give up on my stand mixer who I love. Food processor or blender…??? At first I was going to go for an appliance I don’t actually own (like a food processor), but then that Coffee Grinder and Brewer stole my heart. It’s the only type of appliance that I can love. I’d name it Fred.

I would love the Toaster Oven and would name her “Alice,” after Alice from The Brady Bunch. I have an in-home childcare and would love a helper in my kitchen during meal times. Alice would be especially handy during those times when I need to get food into little bellies in a timely fashion. Alice the Toaster Oven would be almost as fabulous as having a human Alice.

I would select the toaster oven, because sadly, ours has been on the fritz forever! It has an uncanny knack for breaking off pieces of toast, waffles, bagels, etc. which end up under the bottom rack to burn into oblivion. Ultimately this creates an overwhelming smell which then causes all 8 of the smoke alarms in our house to simultaneously go off. Consequently the loud sounds of the alarms causes my 4 daughters (yes, 4!) to shriek, cry and scream, which is the ideal way every mom wants to begin their day, right? Good thing frozen waffles are the only thing 2 out of my 4 daughters will eat in the morning–lucky me!
By the way, I’d name her Betty, ’cause she’s a beaut!

The stand mixer in black. So sleek, so handsome. I would name it Kurt, just because I like the way it sounds.
I would choose the 4-slice toaster, because mine doesn’t cook well and is about to bite the dust. We got it for a wedding gift, and we just celebrated our 10th anniversary a few months ago. Our toaster is old!
Also, I’d name my new 4-slice toaster Tammy. Doesn’t she just look like a Tammy?

I’d have to go with the toaster oven….and its name would be Tommy (in honor of my daughter who recently discovered Thomas the Tank Engine – except she calls him Tommy the train.)

Toaster oven….I would name him Oscar, no reason. He just looks like an Oscar.

That food processor looks amazing. I made pesto yesterday and it was just a reminder how much I hate our food processor.
