My baby done be huge!
She’s 16lbs 2oz, up over two pounds from last month (month one, month two, month three). She’s now 26 1/2 inches tall, and her head measures 17 inches. I guess know we know why she’s been eating us out of house and home.
I guess she needs a new purple onesie soon, too.
Last week she had a few leaky diapers overnight, so we switched her into size three diapers. No leaks since then, thank goodness. I came across a newborn size diaper when I was straightening up her room, and I can’t believe she ever fit in that size – not only that, it was too big!
I am a little afraid of the way her mind is already working. She fake cries! Seriously, we will be playing on the floor, and I’ll turn to say, pet the dog, and Annie will fake cry. As soon as I make eye contact with her she laughs! What the heck? Is that normal, or do I have a little manipulator on my hands?
She is also at that wonderful point where she smiles when she sees us. I love it when I come into the room she’s in and she catches sight of me – that happy toothless grin is so fantastic.
Her head is constantly on a swivel and she’s taking everything in. She realized a couple days ago that we have a dog. Rigby has no idea that the baby she likes to snuggle is mere days away from pulling on her tail.
I’m enjoying this stage of Annie because I know it’s about to get harder – crawling is on the horizon, and then I have to baby-proof, and baby-proofing means I have to open the cabinets for Mike and everyone is frustrated!
Although, I’ll be REALLY glad when the teething is over.

In some ways I suppose it gets harder, though I have to admit that I found it a bit easier as my son got older. They become more independent and fun!

My daughter, Jovi, has fake cried since she was about Annie’s age! She’s a year old (today actually is her birthday!!!! yay!) If she isn’t getting full attention sometimes she’ll use the fake cry tactic to get it all back! lol
Re: babyproofing. I never put a lock on my toilet cuz I knew that would end badly. I’d either rip the whole seat off Hulk-style in my attempt to use the “facilities” OR I’d just pee my pants.
I was a huge fan of gates (the kind that permanently mount to the wall and can open like a door…not the annoying pressure-mounted kind) because I could close off my whole kitchen rather than individually babyproofing every drawer and cabinet.

I think it is pretty common for them to fake cry starting at that age. They know that crying gets the attention of Mommy and Daddy, so they fake it to get that same attention. Take it as a good sign that she is a very secure baby that knows you will respond to her any time she cries.

I think most babies learn to fake cry. Both of my girls did. When my oldest did it I was convinced my world was over and I was doomed of a life of manipulation and frustration. It passed, after I ignored her about 7 million times. When my youngest did it, I just laughed it off and ignored her too. She still tries from time to time but it’s usually followed with an outrageous giggle.

That whole thing about teething being over? Blythe is 3 and has been out of freaking control with the whining and clinging, and turns out she’s getting 4 molars at once. So, yeah. yowzers. You’d think once they can talk, they’d say, “Hey, mom, my mouth hurts. Can you do something about that?” But, nooooo. Whine, cry, cling, just like the baby days.
And omg, is Annie not the cutest with her chubby cheeks and thighs? I’m looking at the box o’ stuff on the floor of my office that I put together for her when she was still Binky, and thinking, hmmmm. I’d better get that sent because she’s not going to get ANY use out of ANY of it, all because I’m a big procrastinator. Five months of procrastinating. Way to go, Dre!

and reading the comments, really hit me as a theme, my grandson fake coughed at her age. So it seems the boys do the fake coughing and the girls go for the fake crying. Interesting!
Oh the expressions are priceless!!! I looked back through and month one doesn’t even look like the same baby – it’s amazing how much she’s changed! But it looked like she really starting developing those Annie expressions in month two. Haha, and in last month’s, those bath pictures made me hee-haw all over again – they’re hilarious!!

My sister fake cried her way through childhood. The jig was up when my dad bet her $10 that she couldn’t make herself cry in under a minute, just for fun. She did it in about 15 seconds. He started to question all the times she ran to him crying about something she claimed I’d done. Ha!
Ohh, the fake cry! My now 1 year old did/ does that. If we pay attention to ANYTHING else, he pretends to cry. When we give our attention back to him, he’s all smiles. Creep. Total emotional manipulation! Totally knows he’s doing it, too! Watch out, sound like you have a smart one on your hands, and it is always hard when the kids are smarter than the parents. Not to say you guys aren’t smart..ah you know what I mean, right?

Ha, my son used to fake cough all the time and pretend to be sick or choking. It started around five months, too. They just figure out that they can get attention and then a few months later they realize you are wrapped around their little finger.
