Eight Down

by Heather on September 23, 2010

in the amazing Annabel

Annabel is eight months old! What the heck?! That’s like…8 over 12…divide…carry the one…that’s like a big fraction of a year! What, math isn’t my thing!

8 months old

(month one, month two, month three, month four, month five, month six, month seven)

My little chunky monkey has slowed a bit with her growth.

weight: 20 pounds even
length: 28 inches tall
head: 18 inches
hair: crazy

She is into destroying everything.

8 months old

There is NOTHING this girl likes more than attention. For example, when we were at Dr. Looove’s office a couple days ago, she was miserable and clinging to me – until Dr. Looove or the nurse walked in. Then she was smiling, laughing, giving kisses, putting on a show. Dr. Looove even said at one point, “well, she certainly SEEMS happy,” and I explained that I have a ham on my hands.

8 months old

By the end of each day, she is OVER me and can’t WAIT for her daddy to get home from work. When he picks her up and carries her away from me, she always looks back at me with a big grin. I’d like to say it’s a “yay, daddy’s home!” smile but I’m pretty sure she’s gloating.

I AM FREAKING OUT!

And…drum roll…she is officially crawling! It’s pretty hilarious to watch. She mostly army crawls but every now and then she remembers she has legs, but she can’t coordinate all those appendages at the same time. When that happens, she gets pissed.

crawling, and pissed about it, too

Still no more teeth but the way she’s been drooling makes me think she’s about to push through a bunch. I hope so, for her sake.

crawling

I am delighted that she’s crawling/rolling. She entertains herself for longer periods of time, allowing me precious moments to empty my bladder or feed myself. Of course, when she’s sick, all bets are off. Right now I’m calling her Barnacle Bell, and her favorite thing is to wipe her runny nose on my shoulder. It’s both gross and adorable. But mostly gross.

I love this series that you do with the blocks. Such a great idea. And that face in the last but one picture when she’s pissed – what a face.

WTG on the army crawling Annie! She is soooo adorable, I just wanna hug her and kiss those cheeks. My little one is 8 1/2 months old and still lying flat on her back, not even a hint of sitting. She can’t crawl either and now rolls all over the house (when I allow her!) to get into everything. They grow so fast and they are sooooo cute!

Hooray for Annie on the army crawl. I am certain she is a little bit happier now. It has got to be so frustrating wanting to go *there* and not be able to get your body to do it. Happy 8 month birthday, Annie!

Also, her cheeks are like panda bear stuffed animals. Soooo cute.

I cannot say enough how beautiful she is! And I must say that those pajamas in those last few shots are A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! They remind me of a pair my William had when he was a baby with giraffes all over them.

She’s such a cutie. When my son was a baby he was so big (born 11lbs 1 oz). I loved all of his rolls and chub. But when he started moving he never stopped and all of that adorable chub went away and I haven’t seen it since (on him). He’s 18 now. Enjoy those little rolls while you can!

so cute – have you tried boogie wipes ? My 8 month old daughter got the worst cold when we were in LA and Las Vegas a couple weeks ago the boogie wipes were great for getting the crusty parts – and of course saline drops were like gold to us since she hated the nose sucker ..

Oh boy oh boy, How fantastic is it when they learn to crawl! Josaphina is a month behind Annabel in age, but she has done everything early… exciting for her… nervewracking for me, cause as you said, their coordination is non existant. She’s been rolling since 3 months, but started army crawling 2 weeks ago, and full crawling a week ago… lastnight, she pulled herself to standing, but then fell over because she can barely sit up on her own, let alone dismount! Thanks for sharing Annabel with us, she’s absolutely beautiful and her mommy is fantastic ;)

Hi Heather – I’m finally delurking because…well, I just have to. I don’t always see it, but I agree with Linda, see looks so much like Maddie in shot #4. Beautiful girls!
I have a six-month old boy and he is the boy version of Annie! He is chunky and happy and needs to be the center of attention. He has two older brothers (twins) – I started reading your blog when my older boys were the same age Maddie was when she passed – that was a year ago – it took me until this week to be able to read your eulogy to Maddie. You are a wonderful writer and I am so glad to have found your blog. I cannot begin to imagine your pain and suffering and I am so glad you are able to celebrate Maddie’s life in this space while sharing with us Annie’s adventures! I wish for you and your family peace and happiness.
We will have to get Annie and my Mason together some day – they would make beautiful, chunky, smile-y babies together.

I have two shoulder wipers! The cure for my oldest one when she was about 2ish was I wiped my nose on her shoulder. I’d tried everything else to stop the horrible habit and while I didn’t leave a long shiny, green trail up her shoulder she was totally disgusted and never did it again.

    Happy 8 month Birthday Annabel!

Just read your post about breathing easier. When my dad had to care for his sick mother and then my mother, he rented a pulse oxymeter from a drugstore. It might be good for your piece of mind, especially when it’s late at night, to have one at home. You can also buy them, but I’m not sure how much they cost.

OMG .. how angry do they get when they know “what” they want to do but their body won’t do it? My son is 6mths old next week & he’s already able to get around the lounge room by dragging himself (he’s the definate last of 4 kids ((I also have a nephew who lives with me & 3 steps sons, so 8 all up)) so he feels the need to keep up with them *ECK*) but when he tries to actually crawl, he ends up making a tee-pee & man does he great mad ….
