I am a hair product junkie. My shower currently has six different kinds of shampoo and conditioner in our shower organizer (Mike just has room for one bottle, sad trombone). My products range from super expensive to affordable quality brands you can buy at the grocery or drug store.
A few weeks ago Dove asked me if I wanted to try their new Nourishing Oil Care Collection. Of course I said yes because HAIR PRODUCTS SQUEEE.
The complete line has a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, a leave in conditioner, and a leave in nourishing oil serum. I’ve been using them for almost a month and my hair has been looking fab, if I do say so myself.
This stuff is awesome. It makes my hair smooth and shiny, and it combats summer frizz and limpness. If you Like the Dove Hair page on Facebook, you’ll get tons of quick and easy tips by Gretta Monahan to control your hair in the summer. I personally LOVE the oil serum. I squirt a quarter-sized dollop into my hand, rub both hands together, and then run my fingers through my hair while it’s still wet. It makes my hair smell amazing, and it’s soft and shiny whether I blow it dry or not. BONUS!
I am giving away the full hair-care line! YAY!
All you have to do is leave ONE comment below either telling me something you LIKE about your hair, or a hair tutorial request you have. The winner will be chosen by random.org. Contest ends on June 29th at Midnight PDT. Winner will be announced sometime on June 30th.
REQUIRED DISCLAIMER! Dove supplied me products to try, but all opinions are my own.
Good luck everyone!
UPDATED! We have a winner!
Congrats Dana!

OMG firstly I love Dove products. But honestly I would love to know how to have my hair down and to have it look good all day because frankly it doesn’t! About the only thing I love about my hair is that it’s super long and generally pretty shiny. Thanks to the wad of cash I throw down at the salon every few weeks the color isn’t all that bad either. I like the color of my hair. Lots of shades of blonde, with a few really dark strands mixed in there too. A guy once told me my hair was the color of corn (the plant when it dries, not the part you eat!), and, well, I’m a farm girl, so I was totally happy with that compliment.

Christa says:

So I would love to try something/anything that might help. I need basic hair help, like how to blowdry it or how to brush it or how to find a hairstyle that requires no work.

I love that my hair is fairly versitile. I can straighten it, or just let it dry and it is wavy. I’m learning to like my hair more, since I used to really hate it. Heather, when french braiding (in double braids) a little girl’s hair, how would you avoid all the bumps so that it looks smooth? I run out of fingers when trying to keep the strands separate. (Note: I braid it when it’s freshly washed/wet so that I can get it in tighter so it stays in longer).

Okay, here’s a hair question…My hair is long and slightly wavy, and it starts out looking fine whether I blow it dry or just let it dry naturally. But in the summer, inevitably after a few hours it starts frizzing up and looking completely unkempt. I’ve tried using styling products, the type you comb in while your hair’s still wet, but they don’t really tame the frizz that shows up later on. Is there anything I can use to either keep from frizzing or calm my hair down after?

Soooo…I love that I have super thick hair with tons of body. I would love this a lot more if it were still 1986 and big hair was in. I need hair help. Yesterday morning (and this is absolutely no exaggeration) I woke up to dry, straw like hair from the chlorine in my pool. So, I used two eggs and four tablespoons of olive oil on my hair. I let that sit for fifteen minutes. Then, I washed and deep conditioned. Then I got out of the shower and used a handful of agadir oil on my hair and wrap it in a towel. Then, I used another handful before blowing it dry. The end result, you totally could not tell that I had approximately 8 tablespoons of oil on my hair. THAT is how dry my hair is. I saw the Dove commercials yesterday afternoon and wondered about how the product worked. Because, really? No one should be using 8 tablespoons of oil for anything but frying. I’m just sayin’.

I’ve been blonde, but I have the *best* hairstylist here in AZ. In fact, we’re moving this week and she’s the about the only thing I’m going to miss. BEST hair cuts ever, enough swing and movement on my below the shoulder hair without making my stick straight hair look choppy from layers. It’s magic!
Christine says:
I love that my hair is naturally brown with some blond highlights that I don’t have to have artificially put in, saves me $!!!! Heather says:

Lucy says:
Hello, I like my hair colour, but have noticed that it’s getting really thin, so I’m going to chop it all off. I’d love it if you’d do some ideas for mid-length/short hair.

I LOVE my natural curls! My whole life I’ve heard people complain about what a curse curly hair is, and I never could understand why they felt that way. I’m currently looking for a new cut to show off my curl even better
Rachel says:
I love that my hair is dark and thick. In my 20s, I made the mistake of regularly putting in highlights for about a year. My hair got way to light. Never again!

Well…I love that (some of) my hair is STILL on my head. Turning 50 (okay, technically menopause in general) has wrecked havoc on my once beautiful locks. I used to have amazing natural curl (like your girls) and now it’s Limp Frizz City. Oh, and it did I mention that half my hair has fallen out? Yep, the thick curly hair has given way to thin, flat, crappy blah hair.
So I am in desperate need of a product that combats frizz while helping out with the limpness. Trust me, I am your girl for this one.
Tracy I says:
I love that even though I just turned ugh…40…. this year, I’m not afraid to experiment with my hair. I’m going for feather and colored hair extensions on Thursday =)

What I like about my hair has always been that after a fresh haircut it responds sooooo well when I blowdry it. Of course when it’s growing and almost to needing another cut, it isn’t so co-opperative. Maybe some new products can enliven it a bit. Have to try the new Dove line.

Trish says:

Kandi Ann says:
Right now I love the color of my hair. (red out of a bottle of course!)
christine says:
I love that I have a cowlick that no hairstylist can tame. I used to hate it, but now I just get a kick out of it. It’s a pain in the ass but it still just cracks me up that every person tries at least once to get it to go a certain way, and it just sort of does its own thing all the time. I should be more like my cowlick

I love that can’t find any gray hair! Just had my birthday (the 26th) so that is big, but I like how after my girls were born my naturally slightly wavy hair turned curly! Just think of all the money I spent in college to have a perm and now it’s totally natural! Blows my mind.
Amy K says:
I like the fact that my hair is really thick and wavy, but not coarse. It kills stylists to see how great my hair is and then not get to do anything interesting to it, because I’m terrified of haircuts that require much maintenance beyond rubbing in a little curl creme after a shower and scrunching. I simply don’t have the patience to blow dry my hair for 30+ minutes (it seriously takes that long) and then style it. I do have some funky red and blonde streaks to liven things up, though.
Lisa` says:

I’m very lucky with my hair. It’s not stick-straight, but it’s not super-curly, either. It curls at the ends, even after being in a messy bun/pony all day, which makes it easy to go from cleaning the house to a meeting at one of the schools. Fancy ponytails are my go-to style just because I don’t have much body or volume near my scalp, but it’s a classic style and super comfortable for summer. Win-win!

Holli (B's Mom) says:
I started using this a few weeks ago and I am in love! I usually use a much more expensive brand, and I think this does an even better job.

I’m going to suggest something for you. You love hair, you love hair care products. At age 49 I went to beauty school and became a hairdresser, something I wanted to do after HS but my guidance counselor talked me into going to business school instead. Hated every single day of it.
Here in Minnesota it takes 11 months to finish. Included are nails, facials, pedicures, hair. The schooling is hard – lots of book study including chemistry, bones and parts of the hair and nails. And the board exam is two days with having to do everything that you learned in front of an examiner. But it was so much fun! And I really think you’d be good at it. Even with Annie around you could work part time.
My hair. It’s always been dry, as is my skin. I am fair and blonde. As my hair gets older it looks dryer. That is why I keep it pretty short. I also have lots of hair products in my shower because everything new that came out I had to try. Except for Bedhead products – I don’t like them. Is that too much info?? lol
Hugs from Minnesota
Marie

I’d love a tutorial on how to manage, style and/or cut hair that is super wavy underneath, with a nearly stick straight and frizzy outer layer!:( I had lovely hair…until I had kids! Thanks for the opportunity!!:)

I love that whenever I go to the salon, the hair dressers always comment how healthy my hair feels, even though I recently started coloring it more regularly.
Danyelle says:
I like that my hair isn’t oily or dry so I can go a couple days between washings. I also like the color though I could do without the silver that is creeping in.
Nikki says:
I love giveaways! I used to hate it, but I’m learning to embrace my curly hair. Also, it’s entirely too hot here in Oklahoma to worry about straightening it. Yay for curly girls!

Kristy H says:
I like that my hair has a little bit of wave to it, so sometimes when I don’t feel like straightning it, I let it air dry and it actually looks good! And doesn’t take the extra time to get it all straight! I have alot of hair, but it’s not super thick so I’ve been lucky in the “no frizz” dept lately!
Amanda says:
I love the color of my hair and the curls that have come since having my four babies.

I am one of those ungifted ladies who can’t do anything with my hair. I tried your beachy waves look and I ended up looking like Shirley Temple. Who knew my hair wasthat curly with a little product!
I have a love/hate thing going on with how fast my hair grows.
I would love more tutorials on how to wear longish hair down, but not looking all peace/love/hippie-ish.

I have short curly hair and I love that I just have to wash and go. I do have an issue with it looking like an afro though during the hot humid days of summer so I’m wondering if the oil serum would help with that.
Sarah says:
I have long hair that I just put up everyday because I don’t know what to do with it.
Maria Louise says:
My hair is kind of a frizzy mess, but I am loving the fact that now that I am pregnant it is thick and very shiny.
Jessica Guidry says:
My hair is long and thick. I constantly say that I wish it was thinner or straighter, but honestly, it does anything I want it to. It will hold a curl forever and stay straight as a board. I Love That. I know some peeps who can’t get their hair to hold a curl to save thier life. I am lucky.

Although I desparately need a haircut right now, I will always love my color-Strawberry Blonde. All natural, despite the number of people over the years who have debated me on that one. Never have colored it. Only the occasional perm-do wish I had more natural curl.
Amy says:
I am learning to love my naturally curly hair. Turns out that – after years of straightening it and rolling my eyes at my stick straight-haired mother – I’m starting to believe it really IS faster and easier to style my hair type!
Amy says:
And, seriously, I am going to need this because we have had flooding and have been under a boil order to OVER A WEEK! I’ve washed my hair twice, but the orangish river water just isn’t making it feel so clean.
HeatherMarie says:
I love that my hair looks cute in a sloppy bun!
Seriously tho, my hair tends to be limp and is really prone to oil, will Dove weigh it down?

Ashley says:
I have a hair tutorial request…but for my 22 month old daughter! She has thick, curly hair (much like Annie’s appears to be!) and I pretty much have to resort to putting it in a little ponytail or pigtail buns every day because it grows forward in her face. There is no way I could cut bangs for her due to the curliness (is that a real word?) but I’m desperate to find a way to leave it down occasionally as she’s starting to get flyaways…breakage from having it up 24/7. I’ve tried using different clippies but none seem to stay put…HELP!
Melissa says:
The one thing I love about my hair is that it actually dries straight! It gets so hot and humid here, that i hate blow drying and straightening it, but if I just let it air dry on my walk to work, it actually ends up looking fine!
