A couple of months ago I put out a desperate call on Facebook and Twitter for cleaning product suggestions. Specifically, bathroom cleaning products. Between my hyperemesis and a newly potty trained toddler, I spend a lot of time in the bathroom. It’s also cold and flu season, and even though we are all vaccinated, I am extra-paranoid about everything being germ-free. This means poor Mike is cleaning every day, and our bathrooms are usually wiped down at least twice a day (but usually more).

I know, you’re like, “Wow, your husband cleans?!” But here’s the thing, and the reason I was desperately seeking help: even though we used green cleaners, their scents were too intense for my stomach to handle and they started to become a trigger for me. This was obviously a problem because not only do I have to use the bathroom, but our master bedroom/bathroom layout is open, so I couldn’t just close the door to block out the smells. But we couldn’t not clean, because then there were other smells. It was a really awful Catch-22.

Enter The Honest Co. If I’m being honest (ha), I thought they only did diapers. But they have a whole line of non-toxic cleaning products, and they sent me all the bathroom essentials I’d need:

honest bathroom products

They sent along a long list of all the nasty chemicals and compounds that they do NOT use in their products (their Honestly Free Guarantee), and that was great (because, you know, babies and pregnancy and such), but I really just wanted to know HOW THE PRODUCTS SMELLED. Especially the toilet cleaner since, you know, my nose spends a lot of time in close proximity to the bowl. So before I even made Mike break out the rubber gloves and rags, I smelled every single product.

The toilet cleaner‘s scent is Tea Tree Eucalyptus, and it’s a perfect smell for the toilet – it’s very mild but masks all other smells, which is so.so.so. important. The other scents (citrus rosemary, white grapefruit, and eucalyptus mint) are all clean-smelling without smelling like a cleaning product. But even better than the smells, everything is actually clean and germ-free. I can finally go in the bathroom without getting sick. YAY! I’m so happy with their cleaning products that I’m going to try some of their other cleaning things like the dishwasher soap and laundry detergent. They even have a line of bath and beauty products…basically, they are going to be getting a lot of my money.

And, because they are adorable, I have to show the tiny sample pack of boy diapers they sent me.

Are you kidding me with how cute these are? Baby boy is going sans pants when he wears these.
