I always crack up at the different ways babies figure out how to crawl. Maddie started with an army crawl, Annie rolled and pulled, and James…well, James has the funniest technique of the three of them. We’ve dubbed it “The Butterfly Crawl” because he looks like Michael Phelps swimming for gold in the 100-meter butterfly.

In other news, my new baby gate arrives later today!
Emilia says:
Oh MY! Seriously, this is the most gorgeous baby I have ever seen! You guys should sell the recipe!!!!
Kaye says:
Oh that’s how my youngest son crawled….brought back so many memories because he’s nine now. He only did do a “normal” crawl for about a week before he started walking- otherwise it was what you’ve dubbed, “The Michael Phelps Crawl” for a couple of months. Love it and so cute! James is adorable.
Robin says:
Love the tongue of determination!
Jessica says:
OMG that’s exactly what I was going to call his tongue!
He is too adorable!
Lisa says:
The butterfly! And that TONGUE! This video made my day.
Paula says:
Jamesie is ON THE MOVE! Well, I’m glad the baby gate is coming because between the butterfly arms and the tongue stroke that child is going places! (Am I the only one that thinks he is TOO YOUNG to be crawling already?)
nona says:
I wouldn’t be surprised if he does end up a great swimmer. That’s some good upper body strength he’s got there!
Are you in a hotel room? On some exciting trip? It’s not as cool as the legoland hotel, unfortunately.
Jennifer says:
I LOVE that all three of them had different crawls! It speaks so much to how different children from the same family can be, and that’s so cool. =) I remember watching Maddie army crawl AND seeing Annie’s roll!

HA! He sure is giving that tongue a work out. So cute!
Karen says:
Oh my goodness. That tongue just made me lol in my office. Thank you for that.
My guy looked similar but he eventually brought his feet up or used his needs with the right-left synchronization instead of alternating…anyway, we called it crawking.
Babies are hilarious!

Jordan says:
It looked like a mix between a crawl and an attempt at dancing “the worm.” Love it!!
Annegirrl says:
This is entirely too cute. My girls both mastered the butt scoot and never truly crawled before moving on to cruising and walking. I loved the butt scoot and it made it easier to carry a toy in one hand while getting around. Crawling requires both hands.
Jeanie says:
And the tongue!
Anna says:
Oh my gosh, and with a little help from his tongue! That was my favorite part!
Terri says:
He is just the cutest! I love the tongue!! Our daughter crawled backwards for the longest time.
Expat Mom says:
Oh my goodness, that little tongue stuck out in concentration! Too cute. He is really growing fast.
