Annie was over at her grandparents’ house not too long ago when Grandma Linda read her an illustrated book of the “Five Little Monkeys” song and it blew her mind. Annie made Linda – and then Bampa – read it to her over and over until they couldn’t take it anymore, then returned home talking nonstop about monkeys that jumped on a bed.
Annie’s obsession with “Five Little Monkeys” seemed to be on the wane until her grandparents showed her an animated YouTube video of the song, and holy crap it was on again like Donkey Kong. Yesterday we put the video on our TV for Annie to watch and her level of excitement neared that of a junior high school girl at a Justin Bieber concert.
Oh boy. Now it’s stuck in my head. “Five little monkeys jumping on the bed…”

She sure is a little character, isn’t she? So cute!
Aubrey says:
She is too cute! She must keep you amused all day long. My kids are definitely my comic entertainment! And how tall is she? She looks almost as tall as my 4 year old. She is about 36″ My kids are all short like me. I am only 5’4″
Elle says:
This is so adorable. The energy kids have at this age is unreal. My 3 year-old kicks my ass on a daily basis.
Jenn says:
OOHH MY WORD…EXCITED IS AN UNDERSTATMENT!!! Ha ha ha I loved it when she so innocently said “again”? She’s so cute!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Marie says:
That’s how we feel about “Annie videos”, as my 4 year old calls them – he is obsessed! He quotes them and talks about them as if he knows you all. Last night he said something (I can’t remember what) and I asked where he learned it. He said, “Annie says that.” We’ve started going to your YouTube channel and just hitting “Play All” so that we’re not pulling up new videos every few minutes (lazy parents) – and I didn’t think about the fact that he’d be watching Heather’s hairstyle videos too… until the other night, when he was talking to himself and I heard him say, “And you brush your hair over to the side…” Hysterical. He’s a BIG fan!
TonyaM says:
That’s hilarious. Annie needs to go on tour or something! Lol!
Also, let’s talk about that child’s gorgeous hair! My kids were bald until, like two. At Annie’s age I was proud to scrape together enough hair to make a Pebbles thingy on top of their heads and slap a bow in it.
TonyaM says:
Also, there’s an adorable Ten Little Monkeys book in case you didn’t already know that. It has little plastic monkey faces that raise up from the pages and disappear as you turn the pages and count down to no more monkeys.
Pgoodness says:

How sad is it that on Fridays I can’t wait to get to my computer in the mornings to see your videos. She is absolutely adorable and I just love her personality. She must just keep you smiling all day long. Thanks for sharing her and no thank you for getting that song stuck in my head now too!!!
Leslie says:
She does Maddie’s “I am so excited I am going to shake my arms” thing. SO adorable. Love her little voice. But also? Secretly hoping we’ll get a swimming vid at some point.

We’ve been dealing with this since babyhood. Not complaining, though: it’s my fault. I like monkeys. I find them hilarious. This isn’t to say that I did not create a monster of my own when it comes to monkey fans.
Not only do we read “five little monkeys” routinely around here (our book comes with a glove, and my daughter figured out that momma’s hands are the trick to the monkey glove, so she goes “make monkeys!” to ask for the glove to “read’), we have two plush monkeys that alternate their time as sleep toys, and my child’s favorite thing to do when she doesn’t want to sleep in the crib but is not cranky to the point of whinyness is to go “Monkey!” and jump on the mattress while holding on to the rail.
Meyli says:
Go Annie!!
When she was sitting on the floor bouncing she reminded me SO much of Maddie!
Annie’s got a great memory – she knew all those words! Wow

Annie is so adorable! We sing this song all the time in our house, except for instead of monkeys we say “cousins” and name each one in order of age. My daughter loves it!
