Every time we’ve gone to the beach this summer Annie has been enthralled by surfers, and when she sees one on TV she stops what she’s doing and watches with rapt attention. Last weekend we made plans to go to the beach one more time before the summer winds down, and Annie asked if she could surf. At first we were like, “Uh, suuuuure.” But then we remembered Auntie Lynne had a boogie board.
Annie thinks she’s a surfer now. Nobody tell her any different!

oh, to be a kid growing up in California…

Every time I see your parents in these photos and videos, it warms my heart. I love that they are so involved in these special moments, family is so precious.
Also, Annie is totally a surfer chick now. Add it to her list of achievements!

I could watch this over & over – I love the sounds of the surf & hearing your little girl giggle. Thank you for sharing your family AND California with us!! xo

I’m a surfer and this is how I got started…around her age, too!
Sandra says:
What beach are you at? We usually go to Huntington or Seal Beach, but the waves are so big! I love how the jetti protects the beach from the waves so you don’t have to worry about the little ones getting knocked over!
Heather says:
We were at Ventura Harbor – it’s the only place I know with tiny waves like that!
JustAMom says:
Mother’s Beach in Long Beach is a great place with tiny waves as well!
Rebecca says:
I’m pretty sure this is the only video that I’ve ever watched that I loved the scenery as much as little Annie.
I really love the beach (live too far from the beach -Missouri). Thanks for showing that gorgeous place.
Alanna says:
That’s awesome! Some of my best memories were spending the summer at the beach, both Huntington Harbor and further north at Pismo Beach. We had boogies boards and wetsuits and everything. I would stay in the water for HOURS!
Annalisa says:
Well, she got her first surfing lesson. Doesn’t that make her a beginner surfer?
My daughter is the same way with skateboards and skateboarders. Last time we passed the skate park she asked me for her own skateboard (“My yellow board, mama?” “Uh, maybe we can get you one when you’re five” [and you don’t take a couple of tumbles a day anymore]).
Tami says:
She’s too cute. I love her actions.. so grown up!!
Paula says:
She’s a surfer. I saw a wave come in under her. It might not be a crashing wave but it’s a good one.
Jenn says:
What’s the name of this beach? Is it by your house. Ohh man, if I lived near a beach, I think we would “live” there.
