Recently my mom started to jokingly sing “I Feel Pretty” from “West Side Story” whenever she caught Annie looking at herself in the mirror (which is a lot). We didn’t realize how closely Annie was listening until the other day when her little voice suddenly floated in from our bedroom. Mike and I ran back there and found her doing this:
I think it’s time to teach her some new songs.
Tonya says:
I am in love!
Becca Masters says:
That has totally made my day.
Thank you Annie for making me smile and feel better today! And yes, you ARE so pretty!!!
falison says:
Well, she’s right!
Nsncy says:
Priceless!!!!! Love that, watched it 3 times
Sally says:
I haven’t commented on an Annie video in like forever, but this was brilliant!
TamaraL says:
You is kind, you is smart, you is important! Oh yeah, and pretty!!
If you’ve got it…flaunt it!!! Go Annie!!
Aubrey says:
That is exactly what was going through my head too! lol
Lynn from For Love or Funny says:
Awww. So cute.
Vicky says:
awesome
Shi Hui says:
omg this is the cutest thing ever!!
Tracey says:
My wish for Annie is that she always thinks that she is so pretty! Our teenage girls need to think that they are so pretty!
Sue says:
Beautiful,,,AND,,,,,,,Smart,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,A perfect combination! She is the cutest thing EVER!!!!!!!!
Kristin says:
I love it! And, I really love that she says smart so crisply and clearly.
Nicole G says:
that is awesome!
mel says:
That is pure awesome. Especially 38 seconds in when she starts getting in her own face with her arms stretched behind her. Love that movie.
Elizabeth :: says:
Nice try with the “Are you also smart?,” but Annie’s right, the lyrics “I’m so smart” just don’t have the same ring to them!
Angie says:
oh, this was a great way to start my day today. I may have to watch that one again right now. Better make sure not to sing “I’m sexy and I know it” in front of her.
Kim says:
Absolutely adorable!
Patti B. says:
Annie just made my day Week even! OMG she is so freaking cute! Have a great weekend!
Tonya says:
She is adorable. My oldest daughter used to look at herself in the mirror and say “I sooooo beautiful.” She is 8 now but still likes to look at herself in the mirror a lot, and I am pretty sure say the words in her head. That kind of confidence is great.
Shan says:
I love the way she leans waaay in close. Super cute.
Missy says:
Cutest thing ever. And she only speaks the truth!
Nellie says:
OMG! Seriously, she is BEYOND delicious!!
Let me tell you something, she is going to be the “go to” girl the minute she starts school and will be the one every teacher talks about with a big smile on their faces.
Violet says:
I think THIS is my favorite video yet! Preach it Annie! I work on a daily basis with teenage girls who have zero self esteem. So I say, start building it young, and then when those inevitable jerks come along that will try to stomp it out of them, girls will have a strong foundation to hold onto it.
Laura says:
Beyond adorable.
However the musical theatre geek in me feels compelled to point out that the name of the song is “I Feel Pretty.” Just sayin’ ;-D
Kathy C. says:
She is seriously such a doll. I just melt watching videos of her. Cutest thing ever.
chantelle says:
One word: Precious!!
Wheat says:
That just made my day! Cutest. Video. Ever!!!
Sara Mc. says:
Oh my goodness! I want an Annie. How precious is she? You two have quite the little one there. Have a great weekend!!!
angie says:
She just needs to learn a little more of the song.
I feel pretty, Oh so pretty
I feel pretty and whitty and bright!
My first daughter is a lot like annie as far as mirrors, shoes and everything “pretty”. I worked long and hard to also point out that she is SMART
Last year we had to work on humility and explaining when you should and shouldnt brag about yourself because she would tell people, “I am the smartest kid in my class” “This is so easy because I am so smart” I want her to have a good self esteem but I also had to try not to create and egotistical monster.
Good luck:)
Melissa says:
Oh come on! She is two! This was a cute video, not worthy of a wag your finger comment.
Susan says:
Agree. There will be time to teach her all of those things.
Vernice says:
“Try not to create an egotistical monster?”… ugh. In this world girls grow up thinking they are too fat or too skinny or never good enough. They should learn to love themselves..inside and out!!! Yay for Annie! Besides she is only 2! She is just singing a sweet song. I do not think you need to worry about Annie … Heather and Mike are doing a great job.
angie says:
ok, the tone of this reply was completly misinterpreted. I ment nothing negative at all. I thought the video was precious and simply shared what went through my head about my own experience with my daughter. I don’t think Annie is an egotisical monster. I also don’t think my daughter is. I wish you guys could hear my voice when I tell this story because I was simply commenting the fact that Heather said she needed a new song. My overall message was it doesn’t matter what song, we worry about kids all the time for every reason. Again, this is going the wrong direction. I think HEather and Mike are amazing parents. I dont think there is anything wrong with the video or the way they parent or how awesome Annie is. Please understand, I am a huge fan and I ment nothing negative. I am soooo sorry if this was read that way. I’m not pointing my finger or judging in anyway. Love and peace…
Heather B says:
Without a doubt, this is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! This is why I need a little girl…little boys just don’t do cute stuff like this!
Michelle says:
Absolutely freaking adorable!
Tiffani says:
She is the cutest thing ever! This made my morning, I can’t stop smiling at the video!
Twyla says:
Now’s the time to get her to watch Dirty dancing…Adorable. And a great self esteem booster at that! I used to kiss myself in the mirror when I was a little one and my Grandma called me Miss Priss when I would do it. I didn’t grow out of that one for a while and the nickname has stuck even at 33 years old. I love it.
Becca_Masters says:
I just showed this to my mom and she laughed and said “she is oh so cute!”
Everybody loves Annie!
Jana says:
I hope she dances in front of the mirror her whole life and sings that song! You are pretty Annie! Inside and out! GIRL POWER!
heather says:
that.is.so.great!!!
Jessica says:
Love this! I never get over how adorable she is!
Rachel W. says:
HAHAHA! I love Annie
Lissa says:
lol my favorite bit is at the very end when she is spinning and then catches herself “Whoa” !!
Melinda says:
And she is oh so pretty and smart. And may she always feel pretty and smart, confident, worthwhile, valued, important, happy, content, and loved, so very loved. Because she is all of this and more. Because every little girl deserves to feel as she just in that glorious, twirling moment in front of the mirror. She is precious!
Tami says:
Aww. I have to agree she she is sooo pretty. I could watch her all day. She is a doll and so funny.
Glenda says:
Annie knows she’s so pretty
I love how she bounces around in front of the mirror without touching it once for balance.
Have a great weekend!
Ellie says:
Make her watch this every day when she’s a teenager!
Me says:
She is so FUN!
I’m working on that ISO for my camera. Thanks for the advice!
Leah Segedie says:
My three year old said…”she’s so pretty mommy”…and then he giggled and farted on my lap. Boys! LOL
Gabby says:
Love it! She’s darling.
Pattie says:
Love this video. It’s like she even chose the perfect outfit to sing to herself in the mirror. Annie is indeed oh so pretty and smart.
C says:
Yayyy for confidence!!
anita says:
Oh my gosh, Heather, I don’t comment often but how seriously adorable is this! She owns it! She sings it and she knows it!! Love it.
I love the pink converse under the princess dress, too.
Adorable.
Mama Mac says:
I love how you try to switch it up with the “Are you so smart?” Bless you for trying! Just try to think of it as part of Annie’s budding career in theater.
Norma says:
Friday…my favorite day! She is so adorable!
Bryn says:
It’s official. Your kid cracks me UP!
Dee says:
That has got to be one of the most precious videos ever! I love the little “whoa” at the end when she stops spinning!
Karen says:
That is marvelous! Oh that was so much fun to watch I just had received stressful in-law news and am unable to do a thing about it but sit and be anxious with my hands tied until I feel ill, so this was just the heart lightening needed!
Her twirling is beautiful Makes me want to snorgle her up!
pgoodness says:
Yes. Yes she is.
Brittany W says:
New reader, had to comment, my 2 1/2 yo son watched this with me and at the end, he looked at me and said “Mommy!!! She’s CUUUTE!!!!” and made me play it two more times. Your adorable daughter has a new fan
Jen says:
LOVE her!!!
edenland says:
DEEP ROFL.
“Are you also smart?” Love your work. xx
TRISHA says:
Her little “Whoa!!” at end and the wobble from the spins was too cute. Loved this one
Laura says:
Love it! May she always have the confidence and happiness she displays in that video. That is my new favorite version of “I’m So Pretty” right up there with the Broadway cast recording of West Side Story. Go Annie!
Our 2 1/2 year old loves to say, “Girl Power” and “My name is Sami and I am AMAZING”. I’ve been thinking of letting her watch Annie Oakley and the “I Can Do Anything You Can Do Better” song. Maybe your Annie would like that one too?
AmazingGreis says:
LOVE this! She is so pretty and SMART!!!
Alexandra :) says:
Okay that is just adorable
