Annie LOVES dogs. She follows Rigby around the house and into the backyard, giggling and trying her best to pet her all day. We also showed her the Disney classic, “Lady and the Tramp,” and now she needs to watch it ALL. THE. TIME.
“Doggie movie?” she begs. “Watch doggie movie, Mama?”
I put it on each time, of course, because it is adorable, and she sits quietly until it is over. So, considering how much she loves dogs, it dawned on us the other day… we should totally take her to the pet store at the mall to see the doggies! Her reaction? Probably not that different from a teenage girl at a Bieber concert.
I’m so happy she has Rigby in her life. A lucky kid!
Gwen says:
SO FREAKING ADORABLE!!! I love Annie movies, she’s always so hilarious.
Becca_Masters says:
Possibly the best Annie movie ever! Although I’m quite looking forward to Annie’s review of Lady and the Tramp!
Shalani says:
I really love watching over the video, so cute princess, she is beautiful and intelligent…
edenland says:
CUTIE PIE!!
And when you wrote “.. she sits quietly until it is over.”
Welcome to the dark side of parenting. Heh.

Jenn says:
What a good little girl!! I would be totally laying on the BIGGEST guilt trip in the massive effort of trying to get my parents to buy me another puppy!! ha ha ha Like I said…good kid!!! ha ha
Sue says:
Being the animal lover, that I am, and having a precious one of our own, I kind of act exactly like Annie when I go into the pet store, too!!!!
Karen says:
That just made me want to adopt a puppy and a kid all at once! I wonder what my landlord would say…
Liz says:
I feel like I would have the same reaction as her and I’m 23 years old. I want that puppy that barked at 1:12! Adorable video
Johanna says:
So cute! I love how she waves to her new puppy buddies. It’s also great how mesmerized she is with the retriever puppies. She just has to sit down and watch. Awesome!
Meyli says:
Time for a huge AWWWWWWWW….!
I STILL react like that when we walk by the pet store in the mall!
Trish says:
That was the cutest thing ever!!!
Barbi Emel says:
You guys are totally lucky she didn’t start screaming for a new puppy, haha. Although I think Rigby could use a friend. Cute video!
Julie says:
Oh my goodness, what a precious little girl she is!!
Jennifer Dawn says:
Poor little pups… I hate pet stores! But it sure made for a cute Annie video
Jena says:
Thank you Jennifer – agreed!
Anna says:
I was thinking the same thing as I watched it. Pet stores are awful! We don’t have them where I live anymore, thank goodness.
But Annie is the cutest thing ever!
giselle says:
I know Maybe they were rescue dogs? Some pet stores just have rescue dogs from local rescue organizations..
Annie’s adorable though.
Jen Baker says:
Pet store puppies come from puppy mills. Google puppy mills and you will find horrible things about them. No respectable breeder sells their dogs to a pet store no matter what the pet store says. PLEASE do not ever buy a dog from a pet store. I actually don’t even let my kids go to our pet store in the mall as I don’t want them thinking that is acceptable.
Jen says:
I think Annie and Rigby need a furry sibling!
Cory says:
That child is all kinds of awesome and adorable.
Jen says:
Omg…that song…I have just been transported back to 2nd grade. I used to sing How Much is that Doggie in the Window all the time!
Love the video!
Karyn18 says:
Urf! urf! That little girl is so adorable! Want to hug her!
Hope says:
I’ve rescued the poor dogs that live in puppymills producing those adorable puppies. When you’ve rescued a dog that has bent legs because their cage is too small to stand in and an eye that is just about to pop out of socket, it’s so hard to look at those puppies and see anything but torture.
I know I’m being *that girl* right now but I just had to put that out there. So many people don’t know what they are supporting by going in to or purchasing anything from those stores.
Heather says:
I don’t want to be “that girl” either, but I worked in a pet store as a teenager and the experience changed me forever. I think if you knew what went on in them, you wouldn’t want Annie thinking this is okay at all.
Those puppies ALL come in sick. Not a single puppy arrives at the store healthy – they’ve got eye infections, ear infections, skin infections, vaginal infections – you name it. I couldn’t understand why, either. It was before I had any idea about puppy mills and the horrific conditions those dogs are raised in. When they arrive at the store, they spend weeks in the basement out of sight of the customers, being medicated. When they’re healthy enough, they go upstairs to be sold. And the store was never very careful about who they sold dogs to.
I suggest next time Annie wants to see dogs, you take her to a shelter to visit a dog there. Those dogs are starved for attention and many are lucky to get a walk some weeks.
The sooner the world gets rid of those stupid, horrible pet stores, the better off we’ll all be.
That said, I love Annie. She’s absolutely adorable and I look forward to your videos!! Sorry for being that girl…
Jena says:
Again, I am with “you girls”. Cute or not reality is what it is. Buying pets is just not ideal – period – pet stores or breeders.
Jennifer Dawn says:
I agree with all of you! I work in pet care, where we sometimes take in rescue dogs because shelters/fosters are filled up. It’s so sad to see all of these “designer” puppies come in to board with us or get groomed, when there’s an amazing group of dogs in the kennel who’ve been waiting for forever homes for months! And sure enough, every one of those pet store puppies (that owners pay $1000 for!!) has some sort of medical issue. Allergies seem to be the biggest, but there’s so many with ear/eye problems, and sometimes worse.
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to preach on your blog, Heather & Mike! The video was adorable! I understand the allure of PUPPIES (I have a 2-year-old myself, and she has no concept of puppy mills or anything yet, so I don’t blame her for getting excited when we pass a pet store in the mall). I plan to teach her all about it, but for now she’s just being a kid… like Annie!
Connie says:
You all are thinking exactly what I was thinking when I read about taking Annie to a mall pet store. Horrid places! The one in our mall deliberately cross breeds to avoid AKC fees and all the dogs have ailments like cherry eye and colds. I bet that Annie would love making some homemade doggie treats though and giving them to the shelter dogs! She loves to cook so why not cook for the doggies? =) My girls prefer cats so we whip up catnip toys and donate them!
Courtney says:
The open-mouthed waving! So cute.
Shannon says:
She looks so grown up in that video! I loved it when she so quietly said, “Hi..Hi.”
Rachel says:
Too much cute!!!!!!!! She is so adorable! My favorite part? “Wigby!” I said “It DOES look like Rigby!” at exactly the same time Mike said it in the film, lol!
Karen says:
There couldn’t be a better way to start my weekend then with the double cuteness of Puppies!!! and Annie!!!!
I was cracking up at her laughing when she saw them all. Too cute!
Robyn says:
Yay for puppy love and double yay for another adorable Annie video. Good lord, she’s a cutie.
But BOO for mall pet stores and the puppy mills that supply them.
heather says:
i love her!
Glenda says:
Thanks for sharing Annie with all of us.
She put a smile on my face this Friday morning.
Love that she recognized a dog like Rigby. How freaking cute! She’s so smart.
Have a great weekend!
sarah says:
My dog and her mama and two brothers were rescued from a puppy mill. It’s heartbreaking. I second the hope that next time, you will go visit a shelter. The dogs there are amazing and so in need of a little kindness. A happy Annie visit would be a great thing for them, and her! I was sort of weary of posting this, but it is important. When I read the description, I was surprised the pet stores are still in malls. Made me very sad. I had hoped the pet stores with puppies was shrinking – but maybe it’s not.
Jeanie says:
That was adorable. I, too, hate to see puppies in pet stores, etc., etc. Where is their water? How long are they cooped up in those little glass cages? Who wants to pay THAT kind of money for a puppy, and what happens to them when no one does? I’m a huge animal (especially dogs) lover and advocate, and my heart just breaks from some of the things I hear about and read. I hope you brought them all home for Annie.
Alexandra says:
OMG AWWWW! I love the way that Annie laughs at every single one of them.
TonyaM says:
That child is too cute. Love her swagger!
Lisa says:
Annie is so adorable and such a sweet girl! I can’t believe how grown up she is! Hope you all have a great weekend!
Summer says:
I have to agree with many of the posters above – these places make me cry. It’s absolutely sickening and unfathomable the torture that millions of poor dogs go through to produce these “doggies in the window”. These are not happy places to go point and coo over.
giselle says:
Heather and Mike – I hope you two don’t feel like a bunch of us are preaching. =( It’s just really hard to be an animal rescuer and someone that volunteers at a shelter and then not educate people at every opportunity. When you see first hand how breeders and puppy mills treat animals, it’s just devastating. I hope you understand!!
kim says:
How cute! I recognize the mall you are at (super close to me I live in Simi)! I hope this doesn’t sound stalker-ish, but your daughter and mine are super close in age (born feb 3rd). And I’m having a real hard time finding friends for her. Would love to set up a play date.
AmazingGreis says:
I think ya’ll need a puppy!!
