Jackie! is in town visiting, so Annie is in high gear. She’s been following Jackie! around everywhere, dancing, counting her toes (she likes nail polish), and generally trying to impress Jackie. Yesterday morning she stood outside Jackie!’s bedroom door and said over and over, “Hi? Hi?” Annie is gonna be saaaaaad when “Nackie” leaves.
Mike got a haircut yesterday and it’s…well, it’s a little TOO close in some parts. Like above his ear.
He didn’t realize it until after he got home after his cut. Jackie! and I saw the bald spot immediately and sent him to the bathroom to investigate. He was back there a while, so we assumed he was using his electric clippers to even things out. He rejoined us eventually and said, “how does it look now?” Jackie! and I looked…and then I said, “wait…is that…mascara?” Yeah, it was. He’d taken my mascara and put it over his bald spot. Sigh.
We still have no furniture in our front room. The longer it stands empty, the more paralyzed with indecision I am. We don’t have the funds to fill it anytime soon, but I just keep looking at design and decorating websites and I’m so indecisive! Some people would look at an empty room and get excited at the possibilities. I look and put a ton of pressure on myself to do it right blah blah blah.
Until then, Mike and Annie will continue to use the front room as their soccer pitch.

Her cheer at the end cracks me up!

She’s so smart! She picks up on things in an instant.
Jenn says:
I love her “GOAL” at the end!! What a Sweetie!!! I don’t think Mike or Annie are too worried about you filling that front room. In fact, I think they might be bummed out there awesome play space is gone! ha ha ha
Jenny says:
It can be your Christmas tree room.
Alison says:
WHOA at Mike’s hair. He should get a refund..

Darling video!! A natural born athlete! Your comment about counting Jackie’s toes reminded me of a story about my nephew (an only child) when he was a little older than Annie (he is 21 now) – he would sidle up to people who were visiting and say, under his breath, “take off your shoes!” then if or when they did it, he would say “take off your socks”, all very secretively — we thought he was going to grow up and have a foot fetish! My sister finally realized he was such a sociable kid who just wanted company to stay long and knew people who have their socks and shoes off tend to stay longer!!!!

Awesome story! I can’t wait to see what funny/crazy things my baby will do as she grows up.

My sister had a Room of Dreaded Possibility like that, so before they got a piano and … some stuff… couches maybe? they bought a moon bounce to fill the space. Just putting it out there. I also suggest a ball pit .

our living room just got furniture, and we’ve lived in our house 5 years. Until then, Mike and Annie will use for sports! PS – how is Jackie’s health? I hope she is feeling well
Laurie says:
I accidentally cut my husband’s hair too close one time and we took a magic marker too it LOL! No worse than that spray on hair!
Rebecca says:
Wow, I hope he finds a better place for haircuts! I love his solution though. And, I don’t know the exact developmental stages for kids, but I think it’s awesome that Annie’s gross motor skills are that high. I don’t think most kids would be able to kick the ball like that at her age. I think a soccer room works well for right now!
Liz says:
I’m thinking Annie is looking like a sweeper, or maybe a center middie with her distribution skills. Definitely national team material in about 20 years.
Rah says:
Suddenly Annie is starting to lose her toddlerishness (that’s not a word). So cute playing soccer!
Tami says:
All so cute!! Hope jackie is doing well.
Crista says:
She’s pretty talented! “Goooal!” she says! Too cute!

I’m pretty indecisive when it comes to decorating, too. I have decorations I bought to hang on the walls months ago and still haven’t put them up because I don’t know where they’ll look best. Looking at websites and magazines doesn’t help me, either…it actually kind of stresses me out because the pictures look so perfect and I’ll never be able to replicate that!
Have a great weekend!

Mea would be freaking out about the “echo.” Anywhere we go where she can hear an echo she screams over and over to hear herself.
Meyli says:
You should leave the room empty So you can run around and play soccer and have dance parties!
Carrisa says:
Well thank God that Pinterest exists so that by the time you do have the funds for the room, you’ll probably know what you want. It wasn’t around when I started re-doing the rooms in my house. Which is why a room I just made over last year is about to get done again. Thanks Pinterest.

My grandmother used to use mascara to cover her gray roots in a pinch! This is too funny. Poor Mike!
Lanie says:
A soccer pitch is a great use of space :-). Have a great visit with Jackie! I hope that all of you are doing well. Take care.
Glenda says:
Annie and Mike are having too much fun with that open space lol
Love how Annie says Goooal at the end
So glad to hear Jackie! is visiting. I follow her caringbridge and check in but no updates.
Have a great weekend!

Perfect way to use an empty room. Have you been checking out pinterest for room ideas? That is where I always dream up what I would like my house to look like.
Amanda says:
Totally thought you were going to explain to me what the heck to do with my gowalla account.
I love the room as it is. Scarf dancing, marching, bean bag toss…it’s the ultimate rec room.
Erica says:
Do you use Pinterest a lot? It was super helpful when I was planning my wedding.

As Mike seems to keep his hair quite short, might I recommend a set of electric clippers for you to use next time?
