Two days ago we took our princess-crazed Annie to Disneyland. We pumped her up about it for the weeks leading up to the big day (“Annie, you’re going to meet the real Merida!”) so she was appropriately excited when we arrived. And then when she finally met her favorites?
She hasn’t stopped talking about meeting the princesses – even in her sleep. It was definitely her best day ever.
Beth Mariel says:
Wow she must have enjoyed herself so much! Lucky girl!
sherri says:
OMG she is so darn cute! I am incredibly jealous that you have Disney RIGHT THERE. When we did Disney WORLD as a family a few years ago we had the best time, and it truly was the HAPPIEST place on earth! Then we came back to NC and went to Carowinds and it was so so sad and such a letdown. No happy workers. No pretty princesses. I love Disney. I love Annie’s “peace out” at the end. Go Annie. You rock!!
Jennifer says:
She’s have had a blast!
The best part of the video: “Peace out!” (Otherwise, I’d say her solemn face when meeting her princesses in real life.)
Hahahaha!
Casey says:
Totally agree- best part, hands down was Annie’s “Peace Out”!!
TonyaM says:
Yes! I also loved how she raised her head to talk to the guy on the intercom. And after the doll post the other day, I loved Annie’s doll’s jacked up hair! Haha!
Lora says:
“Peace Out!”
Haha! So cute!!! Looks like Annie had an awesome day!
Kat says:
ahhhh… best video ever! She is so cute! Love the footage of Disneyland! It is hands down my favorite theme park. Beats Disney World by miles! And her peace out at the end… priceless!! Thanks for sharing!
ela says:
hej annie,
“its a small world” – awe also love that ride! Did the song got stuck in your head, too?? It always stays with me forever
glad you enjoyed disney!
xo
Deirdre says:
This is a total aside, but you are a dead ringer for Amy Adams. I’ve noticed it before but even more so in this video. Love the dress (both yours and Annie’s)!
Jackie says:
Oh, Annie….you make me smile
Denise says:
What a fun day! Thanks for sharing. She looks like she had a blast.
AngieM. says:
that was pretty amazing!!
Trisha says:
Glad she enjoyed it so much. The Peace Out at the end made me giggle too!
Donna P says:
OMG, so. much. fun! Annie was so in awe of those princesses – she was just speechless.
Aubrey says:
My 4 year old saw me watching this and said “Annie saw Rapunzel? Seriously?” She lives vicariously through your daughter. She loves the Friday Annie videos. One day I will be able to take my kids to Disney. I have never been either so it will be a great time for all of us.
Jenn says:
She looked like she had so much FUN!!! It’s so awesome you guys have so many amazing attractions you!!! I took my kids to Disney World when they were young. It was sooo magical to them!!! SO HAPPY YOU ALL HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME!!!
Heidi says:
The best trip we ever did to Disney was when our children were really little (4 and almost 3) and it was truly magical to them. My daughter was in the height of her Princess phase and was so thrilled to meet the “real” Princesses! Even my son had a crush on Snow White and beamed when he met her. After watching the parade (my husband and I hardly watched the parade we were too busy watching our children’s excitement) my daughter pronounced, “I’ve never seen so many characters in ALL. MY. LIFE!” Precious coming from a 4 year old! It was awesome! Watching this video reminded me of that wonderful time. Now my children are 8 & 9 and still love Disney, but the magic of believing the characters are real is over. So glad we were able to capture it once at least!
Becca_Masters says:
I love her peace out! so awesome!
I want to go back to Disney!!! I still have my Mickey Mouse ears, they’re 26 years old now!
anne says:
she did look awfully solemn! and I loved “peace out!” what did the intercom guy say?
Sara says:
I know everyone else said it, but that “Peace out!” was priceless.
Lisa says:
My daughter is now salivating to go again. We didn’t see Rapunzel and of course, Merida being new, didn’t see her. Then my daughter was asking which ride the last one was….off I go to make more moolah to pay for another trip!!!
Lisa F. says:
She has the cutest little personality!
Shauna says:
I’ve never been to Disney (world or land) and this makes me want to go! I can’t wait to plan a trip there one day. Annie is just hilarious and so full of personality
Alissa says:
Oh my goodness! She is so adorable- I am glad she had a great time! I remember as a child being terrified of the characters (cue tons of tears). She is much braver than I was. Thanks so much for sharing these moments!!
Beth says:
I’ve never been to Disneyland, but we recently moved to Florida and are only 45 minutes away from WDW. After taking Cadence to Disney World last year, and her subsequently becoming a Disney FREAK (she watched the vacation planning DVD every day for a year. Seriously.), we had to invest in annual passes when we got down here. How long did you have to wait to meet Merida? Cady wants to meet her, but I am thinking the line will be ridiculously long.
Heather says:
Meeting Merida was the FIRST thing we did when we got to the park, and we still had to wait about 30 minutes. We walked by her later and her line was easily ten times as long. So, if you want to meet her, I’d go there first!
Beth says:
So basically, her line is what Rapunzel’s was this time last year. I think we’ll wait for the slow season in Sept and then hit it on a weekday morning.
BTW, Cadence LOVES watching Annie videos. She will be super jealous that her “friend Annie” got to meet all the princesses.
Marie says:
My Annie-video-obsessed son calls this one, “Annie goes to Tennessee”. He’s going to be very disappointed if we ever take him to Tennessee!
Carrie says:
My kids loved Disneyland, so watching this video was a thrill for them! Especially the princess part. The funny thing was that pre-Disneyland, my 3-year-old had never seen any of the princess movies and owned no princess gear, but she still flipped out when she met them! Looks like you guys had a great time!
Annalisa says:
Hmmm… that’s scary. We try not to stress the princess stuff with our toddler, because she will be bombarded by it her whole life. She’s been so Disney sheltered that the first time she saw a picture of Mickey Mouse she went “Monkey!”. Not sure how she came to that, but it made me pause about taking her to Disneyland too soon.
I like that my kid imagines Mickey to be a monkey, and has one solitary Disney themed bowl that was a Christmas gift from a relative, and she calls it “the pretty lady bowl”, and I know that it will eventually change, and she’ll go by Disney canon rather than use her imagination to describe these things. I’m thinking we might hold off on Disneyland until Kindergarten.
Heather says:
I’m confused…what’s scary?
Beth says:
Heather, I was wondering the same thing.
I have never felt the need to shelter my children from Disney. I have never thought that my daughter loving Disney has had any ill effect on her imagination. If anything, going to Disney World and watching the movies has EXPANDED her imagination.
As far as being bombarded with princesses for the rest of her life, there are certainly worse things for her to be bombarded with. It’s something my child enjoys, and I see nothing scary about it.
Annalisa says:
It’s not Disney per se. I just like the fact that she uses her own imagination to describe these things for which she does not have a ready name.
She will eventually learn the names for lots of toys, and start liking things just because other kids like them, and then there’ll be no room to use her imagination to fill the gaps. Don’t get me wrong, I know that will happen eventually. But I’m not ready to give up on this inventive part yet.
Sue says:
I, also, was trying to figure out what was “scary”. Had to go back and read several times to see if I was missing something. I’m sure that Annie is still talking about her day at Disney!! Disney had an “extra princess” that particular day!!!!
AmazingGreis says:
Love this!!! What a great experience and memory. I can’t wait to experience Disney with my niece when she’s a little older. Because Disney through the eyes of a child is so much fun!!
Amanda says:
So cute!! I loved (and still love) Disney! (I was a Disney kid and I turned out excellent if I do say so myself, so I’m confused on the whole “scary” thing. Annie isn’t going to have a stunted imagination).
Abigail says:
Aw, I’m so glad she had such a good time. When I was about her age my parents too me to Disneyland and I remember two things, walking in the gate and going on the It’s a Small World ride.
Funny that even at that age that was my favorite ride seeing as I grew up to be a flight attendant.
Sarah says:
I’m a Cast member at WDW and seeing vacation videos and seeing the kids in the park is the ultimate payoff for me. I love working here because, darn it, I still have the same magic and love of princesses 25 years later. Thank you for posting this. It made my day!
