Heather and I have a running bit where we speak on behalf of Annabel. Usually, we use her to talk smack about each other. For example, yesterday Heather took Annie into the nursery to change her diaper. When they returned, Heather said, “you’ll never guess what Annie just told me – she said, ‘I love you the most Mommy because Daddy keeps me up at night with his snoring.’” Obviously that’s a dirty lie.
The other day when Heather was a little down I made her a silly video to try to cheer her up. She thought it was funny and told me to put it up for her Friday video post. I agreed even though it’s a little embarrassing.

Love it. My husband and I make our 5 week old daughter do and say ridiculous things too. When she was a week old and passed out, we made her dance the Thriller. When she was 3 weeks old, we made her shake her clenched fist and yell “KAAAAAHHHNNN!”

It could be like “Hardball with Annabel Spohr” where Daddy says one thing, Annie brings it over to Mommy who counters that, and Annie brings it back to Daddy again. It would totally win a Webby; a freaking cute Webby. If it does, I have to be thanked in your acceptance speech… Although I think they only allow you to use like 6 words, so “thanks, Katy” would do.
That was sooo stinkin’ cute – I just watched the video four times! I’ve still got a big grin on my face!

I just found this blog and have not been able to quit reading it. I have a 15 month old son and cannot begin to imagine what you have went through. Maddie was truly an angel and had the face of one to go with it. I am keeping you guys in my prayers. Congrats on Annie. Actually, one time it was sort of hilarious. I was holding the baby, and as my husband walked out of the room, I had “the baby” say, “I love you daddy!” and for as split second, my husband actually thought to himself, “Oh, that’s so nice! Gunnar loves me!” then he came back to his senses. Hee.
Ok. sans crank, this is AWESOME! Maybe add another day (let us keep our friday video day also. *cough*) where its the musings of Annie Video day. And then one day she will actually be talking, which will be so adorable to have on video and share with your devoted fans. xoxo, Kandi

I’m sure you get comments like this all the time, but I just discovered your blog and can’t get you and your family out of my mind. I have a six week old (my first) and the idea of losing her so suddenly… it takes my breath away. Maddie was so adorable, with such a palpable effervescence. Like a bottle of sweet baby champagne. Annabel is precious, too, of course – she reminds me of my own little peanut. Since our daughters are so close in age and we live so close (I’m in Culver City) maybe we could meet some day. I have no idea if I’ve just violated blog protocol.
