I’m not really sure how it happened, but Annabel is on a huge ballerina kick right now. I’m not surprised – even I went through a ballerina phase when I was a kid, and I never took a single dance class. Ballerinas are just so pretty and girlie and elegant, you know? Anyway, Annie asks every day if she can wear a tutu, and she does NOT appreciate it when you say, “are you sure you don’t want to wear a three-three or a six-six?” We inherited this outfit from my friend Jennie, and I think Annie and I love it equally, but for completely different reasons.
I’m definitely signing her up for dance class ASAP.
Becca_Masters says:
that is so awesome!!!!
I love the spinning, and the bit where she wiggles her hips. But the best part? that was when she was in the downward dog and bouncing.
that was fantastic! made me chuckle and cheered me right up!
Heather, your Annie is simply wonderful.
Dawn @What's Around the Next Bend? says:
I, too, always wanted to be a ballerina… but I don’t think I had anything on Annie! TOO cute!
Carrie says:
I’m kind of dying from the cuteness!
Jess says:
Cuteness overload!
Serena from Italy says:
She is TALENTED! Lovely!!!!!!!
Jenn says:
Hey H….I just love your sense of humour & how you and Mike lovingly tease Annie!! “Are you sure you don’t want you three – thee or your six, six”? You crack me up as does Annie with her little yell and her little bottom up in the air!!! She is definately ready for dance class!!! ha ha I can’t wait to see her!!!
Amanda says:
My favorite part is the crazy little wiggle around 1:22!
My little girl (about a month older than Annie) LOVES watching her movies! Her current favorite is Annie singing “Happy to You!” Not a typo, btw–that’s how L. sings “Happy Birthday” She always leaves out the word birthday for some reason, so she goes around wishing people a “Happy Heather!” or “Happy Mommy!” or whoever and then we eat Happy Cake.
Mmm. Happy Cake.
Paula says:
That made me laugh – my wee one sings Ooookkkk to you! No idea where she got that from
Lynn from For Love or Funny says:
Now that is a great example of the adage, “Dance as if nobody is watching.” I love the free-spirit of kids who are Annie’s age!
Lanie says:
So adorable! We have been in the tu-tu phase for 3 years and still counting. Her first tu-tu almost disintegrated on her body because she wore it every. single. day. Luckily, we have multiple tu-tus she will wear now.
Definitely sign up for dance classes. Annie will be the star of the recital!
Evelyn says:
I still have Annie’s enthusiasm for the ballet. So adorable!
Heather says:
My girls started ballet at 2 and 3 years old. Hard to believe they’ve been dancing for 7 years already! If you can find the right studio, it does wonders for their self confidence as they grow!
Also, don’t make that tutu joke in a dance studio. Some crazy dance mom will cut you.
(kidding – but some of those moms are totally nuts)
Nellie says:
OMG, she is just too adorable, especially when she busts out a modern move in between the traditional ballet steps!
So precious and just made my day!!!
lisa gleeson says:
Definitely ballerina material Both of my girls started at ages 2 and 5, one stopped at 16 (due to knee injuries) and the other still dances at 26. I don’t think I have ever enjoyed anything quite as much as watching those two dance, although they did every other athletic activity known to man/woman :). Put her in ballet, you will be glad you did! My youngest says she learned a lot about confidence and poise from doing it., (neither things I think Annie is lacking, however.)

Ok…I read everything you write, but I am a completely lazy commenter! This…this I had to acknowledge! Hilariously funny! She will do awesome in a dance class!
Kristen @ The Chronicles of Dutch says:
So flippin’ cute!! I was obsessed with ballarinas too at her age! There is somethingabout waring a tu-tu
Denise says:
Great job Annie! She is going to love dance class. Who knows? Maybe this won’t be ‘just a phase’. She could stick with it for many years, and discover other avenues of the performing arts along the way.
My youngest started in ballet, and loved being on stage for the recitals. I wish she had stuck with it, but now she’s into the electric guitar. It’s all good. Yay Annie!
Michell DuBose says:
Love it! And her stage is just perfect! I can see her performing there for years to come. Funny thought: what if one day she asks for curtains? And wonders why there is furniture on HER stage? And wants tap shoes?
Annalisa says:
Not only dance classes, try to take her to a showing of Swan Lake if you can. ♥
Jeanie says:
That was adorable!
Mary Ann says:
I love her Swan Lake interpretation, she is very advanced for a two year old! I think we will see lots of prima ballerina’s copying her butt thrust move this year. She’s a doll!
Kris says:
Annie Ballerina is definitely the cure for a bad day! She’s a natural! Especially the booty wiggle! haha
Shauna says:
Omg, the part where she bent down and shook her little booty in the air had me DYING. It was just so funny to see in the middle of her traditional dancing with the music, love her!
Debbie says:
Put her in classes and don’t delay! My daughter wanted to dance and asked for classes from the time she was 3. It was never a priority because she was in gymnastics, and she did soccer and then softball trying to find things she liked. When she dropped all that at 6, that was when I finally put her in dance, and she’s been taking lessons since. (She’s about to turn 10.) She LOVES dance, and great at ballet, and decent at tap and jazz. But it is something she loves to do, and she still dances around the house, stores, school, wherever she happens to be when the mood strikes. I regret not putting her in sooner when she asked.
Shannon says:
Precious..and the bootie shaking was tutu much!
Karen says:
So cute! I let my 3 year old and 18 month old watch ballet videos on youtube occasionally, they really love them! I’d love to get them in classes, but I work part-time and it makes it really difficult to fit anything in.
Sue says:
Oh my goodness, that was precious. Annie is so full of personality. I love your videos of her. Thanks for sharing!
Karen says:
I thought that the rump-shaker ballerina at 45 seconds was my favorite part, until second 58 She is so creative! Nothing like a toddler tush in a flouncy tutu.
Lisa A says:
LOVE IT!
Meyli says:
Annie, you have a style all your own – you go girl!!
Debby Pucci says:
So precious and adorable!
audra says:
