I bet you know this, but you can also do tummy time as a tummy to tummy bonding activity. This helped for us, because while the floor was our enemy, we’d seldom complain about resting on mom’s tummy (occasionally dad would also get into the act, though it wasn’t as thrilling). So we did a combo of both until she was ready to crawl her way out of it. Less yelling, that way.
You actually don’t “gotta do it”. I haven’t sin my first baby. My younger 3 all did stuff younger than my eldest. Minimal time in car seat/swings and/or babywearing plus freedom to move on their backs is all they need.
