While cleaning and organizing last week, Mike came across his very first guitar. He thinks he was about seven when his parents gave it to him. The kids are completely fascinated by it, with Annabel saying, “I can’t believe you got this when you were my age.” It always blows her mind to think about her dad and me as kids! The guitar needs a lot of work – the tuning pegs spin without tightening the strings, the bridge is chipped, and the neck is cracked right at the nut. I’d love to get it fixed up, but I’m not sure it can even be saved. Not that the kids care, of course – they’ve had dozens of “concerts” with the guitar since its discovery. In their imaginations, the guitar is in perfect condition.
