This is so precious.
Paula says:
Oh Riley! What a good dog! And wow on the sleeping, Annie is amazing! What time does she go down to sleep?
Heather says:
She goes to bed between 8:30 and 9.
Annalisa says:
12 hours makes sense at her age, especially if she’s skipping naps. My kidlet sleeps 11.5 hours at night, and naps a couple of hours in the afternoon when the planets align. Alas, she’s on the 8 PM to 8 AM schedule, so no sleeping in for us.
I’m more of a Midnight to whenever sleeper, and even having an early bird riser in tow has not changed that. I just can’t bring myself to fall asleep before Midnight unless I am dead tired. Can’t really try to change her schedule either, because if she’s not in bed by 8, she turns out to be a pain in the patootie all night.
Paula says:
I’m a bit jealous – we are down at 8 and up at 5 lol
Annalisa says:
Of course. No self respecting dog would pass up an opportunity to guard a precious little one. We discovered that much last time we went to visit my MIL (her terrier immediately decided it was her job to keep an eye on the baby when I wasn’t in the room with her :P).
Meyli says:
9:30?! Well, I would too if I had that bed (and maybe a Rigby). Looks so comfy! Go Annie!
Sue says:
Best friends!
cj says:
so sweet.
Linda says:
Same thing happened with our daughter, except she started climbing out of her crib at 18 months. I honestly think it’s because the mattress of the big girl beds are much more comfortable!! Glad to see the Guardian at work!!
Jill says:
Rigby loves the big girl bed too. Super cute!
giselle says:
Awww Rigby loves her sister!!
Patti B. says:
That is possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Also, – HER HAIR OMG!!
Kim says:
ADORABLE! (Although Rigby is probably hoping some food magically appears right? Annie and food go together.)
Annalisa says:
Doubt it. Dogs are pack animals. She probably perceives Annie as the child she actually is, and her job as watching over her when the Alpha (aka mom) cannot.
Now, if Rigby was a cat, I’d say maybe: my one food-oriented cat has figured out toddler=food dropped, and has been shadowing her ever since (… even though half the food she eats makes his delicate stomach queasy. Dumb cat!). Non food obsessed cat pretty much keeps a 6 foot distance from toddler at all times.
Heather says:
HA seriously! She can always count on Annie (and Mike) to drop food on the floor. LOL.
Kim says:
Possibly Annalisa, but I have 2 little dogs (one that looks a lot like Rigby) and they want NOTHING to do with the kids, except when the kids have food. Apparently that’s all they’re good for, LOL.
They sleep with mom and dad. And if there was a threat, the first thing they would do is turn tail and run. My boys are brave.
Annalisa says:
My cats would love me a lot less if I couldn’t open the cat food bags and cans. In fact, I can probably trace dumb cat’s affection for toddler to the thought “Someday…someday she’ll be tall enough to do my bidding and open the cat food bag. Then all the fur pulling will have totally be worth it.”
You see, he has mastered opening drawers and cabinets, he could always jump the six feet up without much of a problem, but once he gets to them, he has no thumbs with which to open the food containers. It’s a very sad plight, he would tell you.
Steph says:
Too cute!! But 9:30, long after the sun is up?? What kind of pact with the devil did you make:)
Heather says:
I know right? I am just going to enjoy it while it lasts. (And I won’t tell you that she slept until 10 today…)
Rachel says:
Priceless! I bet Annie loves that Rigby can sleep with her now too! =)
Heather says:
She was SO HAPPY when I showed her the picture this morning!
Meg says:
Wow that’s amazing!! Our son is 22 months and in his crib, but gets up at 5:30am every day just crying to get out!! I’ve often thought he might sleep better in a big boy bed but he hasn’t tried to climb out of his crib yet and we are afraid to make that transition just yet, he’ll probably be walking out of his room at 4am!! I’m so sleep deprived already ;(
Jessica Makuh says:
Wow! That’s amazing!
Be prepared for her to get out of bed more often eventually. Our daughter began doing that a few months after she started sleeping in the twin bed. We didn’t like her being near the stairs, even though the stairs have a gate, too, so we put a gate in her doorway. Then she started crawling over it, so we put 2 gates in her doorway. It worked. She is almost 4 and lately, we haven’t been using the gates in her doorway at all. Now, we’re having issues with the light on her nightstand. She is turning it on/off 20 times at bedtime after we leave the room. We had to unplug it and put it in the closet! We watched her on the video monitor and it was so funny! On…Off…On…Off….She went crazy with the new learned power!
Paula says:
I couldn’t understand why my girls bedroom light was on when I was sure I’d turned it off. Till I caught her standing up in her for and leaning wayyy over to turn it on! We had to rearrange her bedroom lol
Angela says:
Yay big girl bed!
Amy says:
Too precious. Good Dog Rigby and AMAZING Annie sleeps in so late! How I wish any of my kids did that at that age
Mommy says:
Omg 9:30!!!! What a dream!!! I am thrilled when mine let me sleep until 8:00!! Good job, mama!!
Auntie_M says:
I think Rigby loves the big girl bed too! Finally he can sleep with Annie: dream come true!!!
