We were all told from the start that Madeline’s experience would be a roller coaster and that sometimes two steps forward might be followed by 7 steps back. Last night was a rough one for Maddie. She started to de-stat and had to be put back on blood pressure medication and her ventilation increased. They believe she may have a blood infection and have started her on antibiotics. She’s also a little jaundiced which was not unexpected. Additionally Maddie has only a partially inflated left lung. The thinking is that prolonged ventilation is probably contributing to this problem so the increased use of the ventilator is a disappointment. I will keep everyone updated. Kirk
