The days since Annabel was born have been a haze of exhaustion and emotion. There are so many things to say and stories to tell, and I’m glad I have Mike to fill in for me as I know it’s going to take me a bit to get back on my feet.

I wanted to jump on for a minute here in between the feedings and the sleeping and the surgery recovering to thank everyone. When I tweeted that I might have a baby on the 22nd, the outpouring of well wishes and love buoyed us – especially after I was wheeled into the OR and Mike didn’t know if he’d be able to witness Annabel’s birth. It was amazing to be recovering from surgery and have my family and friends reading comments and tweets from everyone. The situation was so emotional I don’t know that I will ever be able to put it into words – but your words…we can’t thank you enough.

I am so grateful for all of you. I am so grateful that I was able to be awake for Annabel’s birth. I am so grateful that she was healthy, despite being pre-term, and she got to go home with me two days after she was born. In fact, she was cleared to leave the hospital long before I was. I had to talk the OB team into letting me go.

Two days before Annie was born, I was invited to film a piece for Momversation about teaching our children to be grateful. It is something Mike and I plan to instill in Annie from the start. We don’t take anything for granted, and we certainly don’t want her to either.

We are so grateful for this little face

Thank you all so much for caring about us.
