When I Try To Escape

by Heather on October 20, 2011

in Heather, the amazing Annabel, the famous Madeline

I see them in the clouds.

I see them in the cracks on the sidewalk.

When I’m at the supermarket, they are in the squeak of the cart.

They’re there in my car.

And there in my shoes.

In my radio, or magazine, or book.

I hear them with the click of my keys.

I see them when I blink.

Try as I might for some moments away, they’re everywhere I go.

sleeping

Finally she sleeps

It turns out, that’s OK.

Such beautiful girls. My daughter left behind an identical sister. They are both everywhere I turn, bittersweet could not be a more appropriate word.

It is purely amazing the power children have over our hearts. I never understood until my daughter came into my life.

Sometimes, that’s the best part. Sometimes it’s just what you need. Both your babies are beautiful…such blessings.
