As of this past Sunday, I am thirty-six weeks pregnant. If you’re bad at math (like me) that means I’m nine months along. Want to see what nine months pregnant looks like?
That’s the pleasant side view. Then there is the HOLY CRAP head-on view:
Mike says that’s the scariest picture ever. Well, PRETEND IT’S YOUR STOMACH, MIKE!
It IS very uncomfortable. I’m not sleeping much. I have been having a lot of contractions, and in general my body is really tired. But I can’t complain, because in just four days? I will be officially full-term.
When Doctor Risky came into my exam room yesterday, she reminded me of this, and then she and Mike did a happy little dance while I shifted around on the table. We’ve all worked really hard to make it to this point and we are THISCLOSE to achieving our goal of a full-term Binky.
During my exam we talked about the increased contractions I’ve been having. They haven’t been regular, but they’ve been coming with a bit more frequency and a lot more intensity. My fundal height is still way ahead of the curve. So keeping all this in mind, Dr. Risky has me on strict orders to call her office or Labor and Delivery if I have four contractions in an hour, even if they are irregular. She’s being very conservative about my previous c-section scar and really does not want me going into labor.
We then talked about my medications. On Saturday I will give myself my last shot of blood thinner! I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS! I’m still going to take my anti-contraction medications until 24 hours before my c-section.
That, of course, brings up the million-dollar question – when will my c-section be? Dr. Risky was originally talking about having my c-section sometime in February, but with the baby’s size and my contractions, she is considering a change of plans. She decided to schedule an ultrasound for next Tuesday. Depending on the results, my c-section could possibly be bumped up to next week!
Our main concern has always been what’s best for Binky. If coming next week is the best, we are thrilled that she’ll be here so soon. But if Dr. Risky decides she needs more time, she’ll be a February baby.
Unless, of course, Binky takes matters into her own hands and sends me into labor. It would be just like one of my kids to want to do things her own way.
Eeeeh, I’m so excited for you!!
me too!!!!! can’t wait to “meet” Binky and congratulate all of you!
Me four!!!!! So excited to see the baby who created that glorious belly!!! It might be the best I have ever seen!!!!!!!!
Awesome belly shot! And yes, you try it Mike! Can’t believe that in a week you will be a family of four. Thinking of you all and hoping Binky obeys doctor’s orders!

How the heck have you made it this far with no stretch marks? That’s amazing! My wrinkly tummy is a bit jealous right now.
Jen in Maryland says:
I was thinking the same thing…no strech marks?! That’s awesome and I’m a bit jealous too! So excited for you and Mike. Best wishes on your last few days/weeks of pregnancy.
Aside from being totally excited for you…I was also thinking that there isn’t a singly stretch mark on that belly! Impressive.

I thought the same thing! My stretch marks got their own new stretch marks with my 2nd pregnancy-lovely.
Wow! I guess I never saw my own pregnant belly from that angle. I would bet it was much scarier

Full term! I knew you could do it! You’ve come so far….it’s not much longer now, though I know every day seems like an eternity when you’re so darned uncomfortable.

I must admit that I can’t help be heave a huge sigh of relief after seeing your belly and be thankful that my guy did me the favour of showing up 7 weeks early (5 lb 11’oz = 97th percentile for 33 weeker) and not being the over 10 pounder that was expected!
I can imagine the difficulty sleeping and getting comfortable…but your almost there…ALMOST THERE! HOLY CRAP!!! ALMOST THERE!! And I CAN’T wait for the big announcement! I am vibrating with excitement for you Mike and Binky!

What a beautiful belly! It looks like a full moon. So darn excited for you. Way to go making it through such a challenging pregnancy and to full term. You done good, mama. I’m blown away by the lack of stretch marks! I was covered with them way before I reached that size. Can’t WAIT to hear of Binky’s arrival. Hang in there, you’re almost done!
I think it’s a beautiful belly. But how did you avoid getting stretch marks all over it? Very pretty. I always miss my pregnant belly when it’s gone. I guess I quickly forget how uncomfortable it really was. I’m so excited for you guys.

My daughter’s birthday is January 30th, my only full term gestation. She was due January 28th, so, not bad!
I will be keeping you in my prayers especially this week, that all will go well and Binky will be an exuberantly healthy little girl.
I sure hope the storms that rolled through your area on the radar they’re showing us here in Michigan, did not affect you in any bad way. Glad you had some rain, but you don’t need bad storms especially not right now!

I love belly shots! Yours, though so close-up and amazing, reminds me of Demi Moore’s pregnancy magazine cover – beautiful and stunning!
So excited for you and Mike! Try not to do much these last few days/week(s). I remember feeling extremely uncomfortable the last two weeks of my pregnancy and not sleeping well. Not a fun experience but that all disappeared the moment they lifted my daughter from my belly!
Sending lots of love, hugs, peace, comfort and joy your way!
This is so exciting. I have been following your story for so long
and I am so glad there is a happy ending. Binky will be a happy and healthy little girl. My youngest was born at 36 1/2 weeks and she is a healthy 2 year old. I wish you the best of luck. Most of all I wish you and your husband happiness. It is well deserved.
Congratulations on making it to nine months.
I bet Binky will be here before February, by the looks of your tummy. Im so happy for both of you!!

That belly shot is incredible. I love it. It is something that you will put in the back of your mind and someday 20 years from now you will stumble upon it and see how incredible it really is. I was just showing my kids my preggo pic’s and they were shocked. I would like to think that they have a new found respect for me, considering my son was 10 pounds when he was born! I am barely 5’2″ so I am pretty sure I was wider than I was taller! LOL! I know how uncomfortable you are, but it is such a blessing to have her inside developing so well! I could not be happier for you and Mike!

Every day I rush to my computer to see what you have to write. Seriously, it’s the first thing I do! I ADORED Maddie, and followed her every development along the way. I have shared your heartbreak not knowing what to say. I will always keep that special little angel in my prayers…
And now I am over the moon with excitement over your Binky. She will be her own special little girl with a big sister watching out for her from above. I am just so very, very happy for you. I wish I could put it into words as expressive as yours…
Not ONLY do you not have any stretch marks, you are completely all tummy! You look like one of those pregnant women who will look like they didn’t just have a baby *x* weeks ago! I don’t have any kids yet, but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna want to have a talk with Binks to get some gestational tips for my unborns.
Sooooo excited about full term! I can’t believe it could be next week for Binky!! How awesome is that! She’ll be big and beautiful and loved, and have the most amazing parents that got through so much to bring her into the world perfectly healthy. Kudos to all of you!

XOXO from GA!
As soon as I read 36 weeks I started to cry and I haven’t stopped. You did it Sweetie….you are full term (where I live they consider 36 weeks to be full term). I know you probably don’t consider me to be your “real” friend but I want you to know, too me, you are my friend and I simply could not be more proud, thrilled or excited for you!!!
Just think Heather….this time next week….you could be holding your daughter!!!! (((Squeals of delight as she writes this))). YAHOO!!!!!
I wanted to thank you for allowing me to join you and Mike during this life changing experience…mourning the profound loss of one child while so desperately hoping and praying for the safe arrival of your new baby has been such an overwhelming, humbling experience.
This journey has been nothing less than an ordinary miracle and you Heather, are one of my new life heros!!! I watched from a not so close distance both you and Mike struggle and endure so much yet you both did so with such humour, relentless strength, determintion and with such raw emotions it was hard NOT to weep with and for you and cheer for you at the same time.
Each day, I live with an inexorable chronic neurological disease which causes me pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week but coming to your site each day has taught me many lessons not only with astute determination but also with incredble courage.
So often I would sit in awe and absorb your extraordinary wit and your perspicacious out look on life. I do believe without doubt, I am a better person for having own you and I shall always be thankful for the lessons I have drawn from your life experiences.
Thanks again for sharing your joyful new!!! I for one cannot wait until next week!!!!!

I remember when you posted Binky’s due date. You confessed that it was Valentine’s Day, but seemed resigned to the fact that she would come early – perhaps even in 2009. And here we are. A mere 3.5 weeks from your due date and you’re still pregnant.
Heather, you’re a testament to maternal sacrifice. Not only for your loving tributes to Madeline, but for all of the comfort and convenience you’ve sacrificed to carry Binky this long. What lucky daughters you have. Congratulations.

Oooooh!!!!! I am so so so so so excited, I could just burst! Looking forward to the day I go to your site and see her for the first time and learn her post-womb name. (Don’t think for a second I haven’t been listing all the names that start with ‘A’ since last weeks post.)

Aaaahhhh…I just got CHILLS! So so so so excited for you, and thankful for your little life inside of you.
I don’t think that picture is scary at all. In fact when I saw it my first impulse was to print it out and hang it in my home office so I can look at it when I need a reminder that the world is full of amazing good things alongside the things that make me sad.
that’s some belly! Can’t wait to meet Binky!
I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am for Binky’s arrival. Yours is the first blog I look for in my reader every morning. You brought some joy to my life today, Heather. Thank you.
It gives me chills. Can’t wait to meet the little angel!
EEEEK! Maybe next week! Wow! This is so exciting! Binky is a chubba and she has run out of room. Your belly is so cute and so BIG! That’s about how I looked just before I delivered and mine was 10.8 so….
Keep the updates coming! Rest and enjoy these last days of dreaming about her before you get to finally meet her.

I LOVE that second belly shot.. you need to submit that somewhere, I am sure it would win a prize…like an “aww factor” prize or something. By the way totally jealous that you don’t have a single stretch mark..=)
Anyway congratulations for making it this far, I’ll be pulling for you that you make it 4 more days just so you can say you went full term!
Can’t wait to see her!

That 2nd picture is quite possibly the greatest belly shot I have ever seen IN MY LIFE.
Also: NEXT WEEK!!! OMG!!!
Woo Hoo look at you, way to go Heather. Way to go Mike!
Very, Very soon Binky will be here.
Blessings to you and your family.

So incredibly happy for you, Mike, Rigby, and your entire families. How awesome that Binky is full term! Maddie has truly been watching out for her little sister and has played a part in you getting this far. I really belive that. How crazy that Binky Spohr could be here next week?!?! I wish you all the best of luck. Can’t wait to “meet” Binky! (Tell us her name… you’re soooooo close. We can’t take the suspense!!!!).
That is the best picture ever! And NO stretch marks?
Such wonderful news! I remember how tough it is to be *that* pregnant – hang in there!!
It won,t be long…you are such an awesome mom..doing everything possible to keep that little bundle safe and sound in her momma’s tummy. Your precious baby daughter will be in your arms very soon. Can’t wait to see her. Baby Spohr is on her way.
SERIOUSLY- how can someone so tiny have a belly like that with no stretch marks?!?!?!?!? I’m in awe of you!!!!!! Did you use any special cream or oil? I tried every single one and still looked like a cat used my tummy as a scratching post! Are you just one of those annoying preggers that was blessed with good genes and doesn’t get a single stretchy mark? You have some explaining to do lady!
Oh btw, inquiring minds want to know if that belly has officially reached bigger around than you are tall? How do you not fall over?!?
All kidding aside, that belly is gorgeous and contains the most beautiful little blessing. I am so happy for you, and no one could deserve this victory baby more. We are all so proud of you and all you have done for both of your little girls.
Lots of love to all of you!!!!!!!
ps. I seriously want to rub that Buddha belly for good luck! It is so adorable!!!!!!!!!
Michelle Pixie says:
I am thrilled for you! I can’t wait to meet Binky. I have to say I am also envious of the no stretch marks. How the heck did you manage that? I have a stinkin’ road map on my tummy!
Wow. I mean….WOW!!!! What an amazing photo that is from the front. Crazy to think that is YOUR REAL BELLY. Crazy and amazing and wonderful.
Count me among the many, many, many who are so eager to meet Binky!
NO STRETCH MARKS?????
And yeah, scarey pic for sure…lol… but also a beautiful thing, don’t ya think?
I’ve got goose bumps, and I don’t even know you.
Oh, Heather, you look fabulous … big tummies are the best! Well, those containing a baby, that is.
Okay, so I am now bowing down to you, it looks more like I am slumping over but it is the best I can do with my own belly at the moment. I will never get that second image out of my brain and I really hope that is not in store for me in the next 3 weeks. Also while I do think you are the bees knees I shake my fist at you just the tiniest bit for not having a single stretch mark. In other words I look deranged bow-slumping-fist-shaking and all I am thrilled that this part of the journey is all most over for you…and your ribs.
Congratulations Heather! You’ve made it a really long way, physically, and emotionally. I’m excited to see new photos of Binky, ultrasound, newborn, coming home…..they will all be wonderful treasures!

Being pregnant is the most amazing thing. I miss being pregnant. I know I know call me crazy! You (even though it’s very uncomfortable for you) do pregnant very well. I mean look at that belly..it’s HUGE but still beautiful and NO STRETCH MARKS..how in the hell did you manage that???
Your belly is incredible – I’m in awe of its perfectness! Thanks for these fantastic pics! I am thrilled for you having gotten so far in your pregnancy and am wishing you & Binky a safe, easy and healthy delivery.

Heather, I know you know this but WOMAN YOU ARE HUGE!!
Am so excited for you both :))
Like everyone else, I am very excited for you, Mike, and Maddie on the upcoming blessing that will be Binky. You have done an awesome job incubating her in there and I can’t wait to meet her in the coming week(s). Thank you for sharing your family with us.
I’ll be here whenever Binky decides to make her debut! I’m so happy you are almost full term. Love you.

That is a sweet belly shot. I am so happy for you. Just reading that gave me tears (of joy) I can’t wait to see pics of binky. Congrats to you all.
We will all have so much to learn from Binky. This is maybe the most anticipated baby of all time. Love and hugs to all the Spohrs.
That is by far the best belly shot I’ve ever seen. It’s like modern art.
I hope Binky’s birth day is full of happy tears and toasts of champagne. For some reason, I”m predicting next Tuesday will be the day. BTW, in case you want to change names, I like Abbie Rose or Avery Claire
Congratulations on making it this far!!!!
I’d have to agree with your hubby. That IS the scariest picture ever. lol. Good luck – I can’t wait to see pictures of your binky.
When I got to the part that Binky might be coming next week, I squealed and clapped. At work. In a cube farm. With my computer in plain sight. Showing your ginormous belly.
Ha! It took a while to explain, but I think you will have a new reader or two before the day is done!. :o)

Yeah that second picture kind of scares me a little. It’s like BAM in your FACE!
I am so proud of you. And Binky. And of course Mike. But most of all you. Following you these past few months has really impacted my life and I am happy to be there to see you and Binky and everything. And you rock. January or February Binky is going to be well loved!
OMG I love the picture of the belly never thought of taking one from that angle. I will be praying for all of you. I can’t wait to see pictures of that beautiful little girl.
Your baby belly is intimidating in the second picture! Wow, it looks ike it’s going to pop out of the screen!
I’m glad to hear the good news from the doctor. You’re almost there!
So excited for your family. I can’t wait to meet Binky. Sending good energy everyday!!
Wow, that head- on view is IMPRESSIVE! You should take copies everywhere you go and flash it like a badge. You’ll be moved to the front of every line, given the best parking spaces and more. Think of the possibilities!!!!
*squees along with everyone else*
uuum, yeah! That is definitely a HOLY CRAP shot of your belly! But it’s beautiful!
It’s almost ridiculous how excited I am for Binky’s arrival! On most days, I can’t stop the tears as I read your posts. I must say I am anticipating tears of joy on the day you post that little Binky is here with you and Mike! As always, thinking of your beautiful Maddie and sending warm wishes for a healthy remainder of your pregnancy and a stress free birth!
Wow the head on shot took me by surprise. It looks so big because you are small framed. It also looks big because your stomach is big!! I am so happy you made it to full term. I had my c-section at 39 weeks 2 days. I just would not go into labor AT ALL and I had the same type of contractions you had ALL of the time. It is strange how our bodies work. Can wait to see Binky!!!
I have to say that I love reading your blog…some days are hard and other days like today make me smile all day long. I read your post at 8am like normal but didn’t comment so I would make another trip back now and giggle all over again. I think that the pictures are great! I think you guys have done a wonderful job and I’m hoping for February 1st for Binky to make her appearance (unless she decides otherwise). Take care!
Jen Wilson says:
That stomach is NOT scary! I do believe it is the most beautiful stomach I have ever seen. Apparently it does not believe in stretch marks.
Rumour Miller says:
So very exciting! All the best!
That picture is intense and totally amazing. Having had two babies, I can still never get over the sheer miracle it is that a BABY sits in our BELLIES. I mean, when you think about it, it’s pretty fing crazy.
I’m so excited for you! I hope you get a bit of sleep here and there between now and Binky’s arrival.
I was told about your blog from a fellow DG. I was two years younger than you in school and share some of your pains, although our stories are slightly different. Having a child die before you is not natural and I’m hoping it’s the worst thing I ever have to experience. I was told that my first baby, Frances, had Potter’s Syndrome at 16 weeks gestation. We were hoping to find out the sex, but had to hear this heart wrenching news instead. The sydrome is very rare. Her kidney’s never developed, creating the absense of amniotic fluid and thus her lungs would not develop. We too decided not to terminate the baby and carried out a pregnancy we knew would have a bittersweet ending. This time was so difficult and scary, as I can image your pregnancy was. Not many people understood what we were going thru and it was painful to see other friends and family having healthy pregnancies. Frances was born aug 10th, 2008 at 32 wks and was ironically 3lbs 1oz, like Madeline. She tried to breath, but only lived for about 10 minutes. That time was unforgettable and so amazing. We took many pictures, held her for almost 2 hours and were able to bury her properly.
I admire your courage and dedication to sharing your story. I am pregnant too… 33 1/2 weeks and so grateful. Babies are gifts and should never be taken for granted.
Good luck to you. I wish your family all the best.

Okay that was a GREAT belly pic You are so tiny, other than baby bump!!!
I am SOOOO excited for you and cannot wait for that first pic.
You do realize your blog site is going to crash when that first picture is posted? Just wanted to give you a heads up:)
Praying the whole time….
OH, HEATHER!! I want to hug your belly, it’s so perfectly round and sweet!
I’m pushing for Feb 1st!!
I’m so very very excited for you!! My husband and I both broke out in big grins upon seeing the humongo belly!! (I also have some very unflattering huge belly shots taken the day before I went into labor with a 10 lb baby coming out.. UGH.) But your humongo belly means a full term baby! We’ve followed your blog for nearly a year and we can’t wait to see the baby! CONGRATS!
You may have a big belly, but it is beautiful! No stretch marks…. Gotta love it! Wishing you all of the best as “A” Binky enters the world soon! You all deserve the hope, and joy she will bring into your lives!

OMG! I can´t belive she´s almost here
it´s so exciting! And your belly is beautiful. Much love!
Shannon Kieta says:
Holy Shit Heather, I thought I was big when i had my kids! Nico was 8lbs 16oz and my baby girl was 9lbs 5 oz. I had two C-Sections and to be honest, I would NEVER want to have a natural childbirth! C-Sections are phenominal (in my opinion!) Both kids, I went home the next day. I don’t even have a scar! It is right on the bikin line. My doc cut the same place so I woldn’t have two different scars. I wish you all the luck in the world. I said Feb. 4th is the date you will go. Hold me to it!
In my entire life, I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy and so relieved for someone I don’t know and will likely never meet. God bless you and your precious family.
your binky belly is just beautiful! congrats!!!

I am also almost 37 weeks and my husband doesn’t understand why I am so whiny this time (much more uncomfortable than the first time, no sleeping etc). So I told him that this weekend I was going to get a 40 lb bag of potatoes (weight adjusted proportionately to his starting body weight) and strap it to his belly for just a few hours and see how tired he gets carrying the extra weight around. He thinks I am joking
Good luck with the home stretch. i am ready to be done but sadly my cervix is currently “not favorable” and Dr said “see you next week”. I said “really, you mean in the hospital after i have given birth?” He said “I am pretty confident you will not go into labor before our next appt, see you then”.
Your belly is beautiful! Congrats for getting this far! I am so happy for you!
