I saw Dr. Risky last week for my final postpartum appointment. I left both kids at home and went by myself. Who knew a trip to the OB/GYN could feel like a vacation?
Dr. Risky was in a good mood, and I was, too (you know, because I was on vacation). It was really nice to be in her office and not feel like utter crap. I was joking around with her and one of her nurses, and Dr. Risky said, “It’s so nice to see you smiling instead of trying not to vomit!” PREACH, Dr. Risky.
My exam went well, and Dr. Risky said my scar looks “perfect” and “beautiful.” That’s great news for my lower-abdomen modeling career! I was also officially released from giving myself anticoagulant shots. I will (hopefully) never have to give myself another shot again. YAAAAY!
I will still have to take aspirin every day for the rest of my life, but that’s easy. I’m also very happy to no longer have a bag of used needles in my purse:
I’ve spent so much time with Dr. Risky over the last ten months, so it’s strange to know that after this week (I’m having a small procedure on Thursday) I likely won’t see her or her staff ever again. I could probably go to Dr. Risky for my annual exam, but I’ve always had Dr. Looove handle that for me. It’s a little sad knowing that the team responsible for bringing two of my babies here safely is about to exit my life. However, I am thrilled to be moving on to the next phase, with these difficult medical days behind me and my sweet kiddos in front.

Hurray for your last shot and the difficult medical days being behind you! So glad that you got to go on “vacation” and had a good check up. Good luck with the procedure on Thursday! It sounds like with Dr. Risky and her staff, you are going to be in good hands. Take care.

“Lower-abdomen modeling career” made me laugh out loud – so happy for you to finish up your shots and complete this very scary part of your life. Good luck Thursday!

So bittersweet. But, YAY!!

Ha ha! I’ve called OB appointments vacations too! And also dentist appointments….sad but true. Sitting there in the cool, quiet (at least not my own kids making noise) reading a magazine….feels totally like a vacay!

So glad that the difficult days are behind. It was very hard to imagine how difficult it was for you. I had two very easy pregnancies, and I prayed often that your difficulties would ease up and you could experience less… Toilet time? Sharp objects in the belly? So glad that the outcome was worth the toil. Good luck on Thursday!

This post reminded me of how I felt after I had my tubal (fricken nightmare!!) and healed from that.
Knowing no more vomiting except by virus or too much alcohol. (Not that I drink a lot. ) No more hiccups that make my belly slap my chin. No more elbows or knees to the bladder that make me cross my legs and run like a pregnant elephant to the nearest bathroom, (men’s rooms have shorter lines in cases of emergencies.)
I’m so happy you’re happy Heather!!

You are a trooper Heather! And look at what you have to show for all your hard work. So happy you had Dr. Risky by your side. Congratulations on your last, challenging, and magnificent pregnancy.

Wow–The last of Dr Risky??? Seems so strange! When you see her that last time on Thursday, tell her you have hundreds of thousands of people who are grateful to her for her wonderful care of you during your pregnancies with Annie and James! And I’m sure that she and her staff would love getting pictures of the kids every once in a while! I know my high-risk OB-GYN did! He was so proud of those pictures!!
And yay for your last shot!!!! (As for it being weird to carry a bag of used needles in your purse–nope not weird to me! I have to give myself B-12 injections for life and I will keep the sharps and drop them off at a local hospital that has a sharps container in the bathroom. LOL!)

I could’ve written this post, down to the bag of sharps and the baby aspirin and the vacay at the OB office. You did it much better than i ever could have, of course. Amen to those days being behind you.
