Twisted Rope Bun

Annabel is required to have her hair up and out of her face for her dance classes. I’ve been experimenting for months with different styles to see what a) looks pretty, b) is easy, and c) does its job and keeps her hair out of her face for an entire class. I’ve finally settled on this twisted rope style and not only is it really pretty, it’s really easy. I’ve actually done two different tutorials for this, one with still photos and one with video. If you’re a video learner, scroll down to the bottom!

After starting with a ponytail on the top of the head, divide the hair into two equal sections.

Twist each piece of hair to the right (clockwise), all the way down to the ends.

Then, twist the twisted pieces around each other to the left  (counterclockwise). When you reach the end, secure with a hair elastic.

Wrap the rope braid counterclockwise around the base of the ponytail. Make sure the braid remains twisted while keeping the wrap tight.

Tuck the end of the braid under the twist.

Secure the hair with your preferred method. I used a larger clear hair elastic, but bobby pins would work just as well.

It looks so pretty and so intricate, like you’re some kind of hair wizard.

You can even dress it up with an accessory (like a stuffed hair clip)!

If you have any questions, let me know! Below is the video tutorial. All Annabel wanted to do was wave to the camera, LOL.

Have fun!
