I usually have about three to five minutes to get myself ready every day. That means I shower, put in my contacts, and get dressed. If I’m lucky I brush my hair. Yay motherhood! So, when I want to look a little nice for date night (woo!) I am usually dealing with hair that dried funky. This is my quick way to have a sassy, sexy hairstyle that you can easily do in two minutes.

Whitney says:
A tip! If you can find them, get some spin pins (made by Goody)! Your bun will never come undone, and they take about two miliseconds to put in and take out (bonus: no pulled hair, ever!).
Heather says:
OH I KNOW! Those things are awesome. But I’m surprised by how few people have them. I use mine ALL the time!
Jennifer says:
I totally second (er, third) the spin pins! I think they are awesome and work so well with this.
Kirsten says:
I saw the spin pins the other day and darn near bought them… with this review and idea, I shall.
Jess says:
You look so much like Amy Adams…
Great video – I wish my hair was longer!
Tara. says:
That is SO cute! I’m growing my hair out and when I don’t have time to dry it, I usually throw it in a bun. This is a new twist (no pun intended) on that and I’m so excited to try it out!
Did you make all these fun hair styles up? So talented!
Meredith @lifescrazyjoke says:
I can’t wait to see you! I am going to show you the side messy bun that I wear 4 out of 7 days per week. I’m glad I now have a brand new bun to add to my collection. I like the side twisty things. Yay!
Lisa says:
Love it. My hair spends so much time in a ponytail or messy bun. I’m always looking for different ways to wear my hair up. I’ll definitely give this one a try.
Erica says:
I love these videos! I watch every single one and I have a pixie cut : )
Lauren in the AZ says:
So cute & easy Thank you, Heather!
P.S. I bought that pin by Goody, & it doesn’t work in my hair…Then again, it’s probably user error, since the most elaborate hairstyle I’ve ever done myself is…a ponytail…So thanks for showing an alternately easy way to pull off a bun!
mar says:
Yay! Supercute, and like Lauren in AZ, I have never done more than a pony tail for myself, but this looks totally doable.
Thanks for the walk-through!
Shauna says:
Heather, you are adorable! You always come up with the cutest (quick!) hairstyles! I know I’ve commented on this before, but I love love love that all of your hairstyles are off of the face. My hair is curly and frizzy so I straighten it everyday. When I sweat the frizzy curls come back so it’s nice to hair hairstyles that are pulled off to the side. My usual style is a messy bun/cute headband combo but I’m afraid it’s getting played out this summer.
I kind of do a variation of this at the gym. I just twist my bangs into a messy bun so I’m not a sweaty gross mess when I work out, or at least y hair isn’t! Anyway, this is a much more elegant version of that!
I must find this goody spin thing I’m hearing about!
Amanda says:
I am so bad at doing my own hair! It’s always just a plain ponytail or bun if it needs to be up. I’m definitely going to try this
Jen says:
Heather~
Thank you for the super cute *easy* hair tricks. I did one this past week, and was so very proud of myself!
Hope you had a good night out with the hubby =)

Wendy says:
Way too cute!
Amy S. says:
Nice! Love the music studio as well:)
Stacy says:
You’re giving Annie a run for her money in the freakin’ adorable catagory! Love the videos! Thx for my super chic hair.
Megan says:
Oh you are awesome! I am so trying this.
Now I just need a tutorial on how to be as gorgeous as you.
Gemini-Girl says:
so you mean you could have been doing my hair the entire nyc weekend we were together?
I mean really Heather.
edenland says:
You are TOO CUTE Heather. I would love to do this hairstyle … but a few days ago I got a “trim” and ended up with the worst, stupidest mumsy long bob. Can you do a hairstyle for 38yr olds who are trying to hold on to their youthful mane as long as possible, kthx.
PS HI MAYA. You are going to San Diego next August. That is all.
gemini-Girl says:
Eden- I don’t know who this Maya person is that you speak of.
Will you be there?
I would much rather go to Australia.
Lisa says:
I want spin pins. My target is always out.
Hair was very cute.. thank you for sharing.
Charlane says:
Any suggestions for shoulder length wavy (but not in the good way) starting to go gray hair?
Audra says:
Thanks Heather! You may have saved me from ever having another appearance-related temper tantrum ever again.
Rebecca says:
The hair in the mouth moment made me giggle. You are so adorable!! And this is a great idea. Think I’ll try it out monday morning
amy says:
Awesome, thanks Heather Will be trying tomorrow. I am all about low fuss hairstyles!
GingerB says:
I have to find out what these spin pins are. I need help! I have a bad neck, so I often get a headache from putting my hair in a pony, but if the weight of the hair can be spread around I do much better. Also I have naturally curly/frizzy hair soI don’t like to wash it every day: I start with first day dried curly with disffuser. Second date maybe the same, or sides pulled back in barettes, but eventually we have to go for bun or pony and I had totally forgotten about the roll option. I’ll let you know how it goes, and thanks for posting this. I need help! I buy every damn gee-gaw for hair that I can and most of it is crap, but I do like any proeduct that can really hekp with a bun.
Karen says:
At the risk of spamming, check out my comment and the website I posted lower down. (I won’t put it again or Heather really will think I’m an African woman in disguise trying to sell her stuff). I have so much hair and nothing works on buns but the combs are so easy to put in, so secure and the weight of my hair is just gone. Bit of an outlay cost to start with, (I have the $35 medium one and it’s fine), but totally worth it.
Debbie says:
I used to have that same problem with pony tails – headaches from the weight of the hair in the pony tail. I learned that if I pulled my pony tail up higher on the head – almost on top – that the weight was less and headaches didn’t happen much.
harriet says:
I am so glad you posted another video!! I love your hairdos I wear the side braid to work most days! can’t wait to try this one out!!
Sarah the Bear says:
Bless you, Mrs. Spohr.
I have wavy/curly hair, and all of the little wispies around my face always frizz up really terribly. It’s so bad that I call it my “hair-lo.” This hairstyle gave me an awesome way to contain them, and it looks professional enough for work. Thanks!
anne weiss says:
is the eyeshadow counted in the 3-5 minutes or was that a special exception?
Lisa says:
I saw those spin pins and SO want to give them a try but I was afraid it wasn’t really that easy. Gonna get me some of those!
Michelle Pixie says:
I can not tell you enough how much I love these tutorials! I have worn every single hairstyle probably a little too much but they have made things so much simpler. I am glad to have another one to throw into the rotation!
jazmin says:
I tried this on my daughter (age 9) yesterday and left a few strands poking out of the bun. It was so fun and so pretty on her. Thanks for the idea!
Cait says:
I just tried this in my hair even though it’s only shoulder length and it looked so cute! Please post more fast hair ideas!
Erin says:
Ha.
So today I was a wee bit exhausted and frustrated at what to try and do with my messy ‘I went to the bar last night and haven’t showered yet’ hair…and then I pop online, see this post..and grumble about how it could not be that easy to make your hair look that cute..
So I set out to prove you wrong and before I knew it…I no longer had ‘I only got three hours of sleep because of tequila’ hair..and had cute ‘It’s totally acceptable to go for Sunday dinner at my parents’ hair.
Basically..you win for being the queen of awesome…thanks!
jenna says:
love it. i felt like i was bonding with you as i styled my hair along to the video!
amy says:
MUST try on daughters Thank you!
Karen says:
Nice one! I had a hair revelation lately, I discovered something whilst at the Royal Melbourne Show (?!) that actually works on my massively thick head of long hair.

These combs are FANTASTIC. I have never, never been able to get all my hair to stay up, feel secure all day, look good and not give me a headache but I can’t even feel that I’m wearing this. I actually just ordered another one and I think they deliver outside Australia. Since you’re a mad hair enthusiast, I recommend thoroughly!
Wow, I just realised how much like a spam advertisement this comment looks. I swear, no commissions were earnt in the transmission of this comment.
mel says:
Love that! I wear my hair in a bun at least 3 times a week so I am soo trying this way.
Ninabi says:
So pretty!!!
Debbie says:
THANK YOU for this video! My 8 year old daughter has long hair down to her waist, and it’s difficult to keep combed. This weekend she had to get to dance class and hadn’t combed her hair that day yet. No time to do it then, so I did this style with her hair – uncombed and messy to start – and it turned out GREAT! And it only took a minute or so, much less time than combing her hair and putting it into a pony tail would have taken. Thanks again!
TracyKM says:
Cute bun!
Why don’t you shower with Annie? Wear her in a mesh sling, or put her in a bath ring seat, or just sit her at your feet? If you’re in a small shower stall, I suppose the sling is the best way to go. I had more showers with my third baby than with the first two combined, LOL. Great way to spend time together and get yourselves both clean
heather says:
This was great. I did it this morning for work. It works well with dirty hair. I just dry shampooed then did this. Very chic. =)
