This is the first of my “Holiday Hair” series. This style is SO easy and I always get lots of compliments when I wear my hair this way.
It works very well on hair chin-length or longer.
Next weekend I’ll have another easy Holiday Hair style – the high bun! WOO!

What a cute and easy to do idea! Thanks for sharing.

I bought dress about 6 months ago, which is a 1940’s kinda style, and I’ve never worn it as I don’t know how to do my hair and accessories, without looking too try-hard. I reckon this style would look perfect, thanks Heather!
Heather says:
YES! And if you curled your hair, it would be perfect!
Priya says:
Hair out of my face = win…I am definitely doing this! I am a big fan of your bang braid, and I have the braiding part down, but I am constantly re-attaching it to my head, because the bobby pins slip out (I have thick hair). I have tried more than two bobby pins but then I look like metal is coming out of my head! Do you have any suggestions on other ways to attach the braid/twist?
Heather says:
Have you tried crossing the bobby pins so they make an X? I’ve found that doing that can really anchor the hair.
Karen says:
I had this exact question! Thanks for the answer!
Rhea (Greek Feaster) says:
This style has been a lifesaver for my growing-out bangs!
I LOL’d at HINT, HINT. That was the most aggressive hint, hint I’ve ever hear!
Stacey says:
MIKE, BUY YOUR ADORABLE WIFE SOME EARRINGS FOR CHRISTMAS!!!! (Just in case he didn’t get the subtle hint you through out there in your video!)
Heather says:
He will never watch this! Hee hee.
Catherine says:
Love these hair segments. Wishing mine was longer . . .
Nancy says:
Heather,
Love the hair style! Your hair is so pretty. What do you do to keep your hair so healthy and shiny? Any tips you can share?
A says:
I am doing this RIGHT NOW as I head to the ballet tonight and had no idea what to do with my hair. Thanks Heather!
Melissa says:
LOVE the Holiday Hair idea!! I dig these easy, pretty do’s!
lpb says:
Thanks! I will have to try this “partial twist” – so simple and sleek. I do something similar but twist all the way back on each side, gathering hair as I go, and either clip with a barrette in back or make a pony, making a hole in the middle above the pony and flip it through. Can’t wait for the high bun tutorial – this technique has eluded me
Kristin says:
What a pretty hair style!
Katie says:
While watching this, my 2 1/2 year old took her eyes off the Wonder Pets and exclaimed, ” She looks BEAUTIFUL!”. Agreed. Thanks for the cute hair tips!
Stacy says:
*Hint* *Hint*
You’re adorable! That’s all.
Elle says:
I love that too. “hint” “hint” Hopefully Mike has seen this.
Jenifer says:
Love this and definitely need a high bun tutorial. I love buns but mine always end up too messy or to… ballerina-y…
Kelsy says:
That amazing contraption made by Goodie is called a Spin Pin. They are the best!
Elizabeth says:
Ohh I like this style! This would work for me to because my front angles are in that awkward length right now so it will pull them back. Thanks Heather!!
Rachel says:
My hair is alllllllmost long enough for this! I just need like an inch more…Hey, maybe if I borrowed Annie some of her magical hair growing ability would wear off on me. I’m convinced she is magical because I was bald until I was like two.

Heather, I totally came to your site in a pinch today with no idea what to do with my hair & somewhere important to be. Side twists saved me (five monutes!), and I added some silver hair clips on either side to hold the twist since my hair is heavy & tends to bend bobby pins. I credit you with making it to the event feeling like a girl and not a dirty hippie! xoxox
