Into The Future

by Heather on December 30, 2010

in Friends

When I look at old pictures of me, I laugh and see my daughters.

I see Annie’s rear:

blowing on a thistle

I see their quizzical smiles:

me, under a year

and chunky knees:

me, under a year

me, 1ish

I look at how much I loved my brother, and hope my kids feel the same way about each other:

twins

after school

I hope they have amazing friends like I do, friends that are so patient and kind, who would wait until the end of the world for their friend to be ready to feel again.

I want my children to be as lucky as me…because even when I seem like I take it all for granted I don’t, not even for one second.

If I didn’t I have my friends, I wouldn’t have me. I am so thankful.

Heather, I love when you post baby pics of you. So cute. I bet your friends feel the same way. Friends are the best, often times better than family (just flew in from an extended family vacation)

Oh my does the fourth one look like Maddie! When I see pictures of myself as a child, I see my son in all of them too…it’s such magical feeling!

That third shot is a spot-on Maddie smile!

On Christmas I looked through one of my grandma’s photo albums, and for the first time, instead of just me me ME, I saw my children. It was… an interesting feeling. For someone who hasn’t had children yet, I mean.

The third picture of you looks so much like Annie. I love my family, of course, but friends are able to see you for who you are, not just who you were, like some family members. Like never letting you live down rebellious teen years…..for example. :)

Love the photos… I wish I had more pictures of my sister and I, that we were closer. I don’t know why, but we hated each other growing up and only became close in the last few years.

You and Kyle were so adorable together! I feel the same way about my friends. My family has kinda gone crazy lately and I am so grateful for my friends for being there for me. Friends are awesome and I’m glad you have good ones because you deserve it!

The pictures of you and your brother are too cute! Friends are so important and I’ve to learned that unfortunately through a traumatic experience. They are my rock and so are yours. Annie will make amazing friends like yours, I’m sure of it.

I think that without our friends to hold us up sometimes we would just fall down. Even closer then that can be our sibling relationships, which is obvious between you and Kyle. You and Mike are nurturing that bond between Annie and Maddie, and it’s going to be so special for Annie later down the road.

Did everyone have a bright red carpet in the eighties? LOL. Because seriously, I have pictures of my house growing up that had that same red carpet!

Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing. As a parent I think we always want what we “had” and “then some” for our own children. :D

You were nurturing as a child too… I see you’re the one putting your arm around your brother in the pictures. Adorable! Sibling love is the best!

What a beautiful and true post. It’s impossible to imagine becoming who we become without that love of friendship. I can see why your friends love you so much, and I know those lucky enough to know you in person feel just as blessed as you do. Just as it should be. Happy New Year!
