Last weekend my party-planning partner in crime, Jen, threw a Hello Kitty birthday party for her daughter’s fourth birthday. The whole thing turned out so cute, I wanted to share her ideas and results in case there are any Hello Kitty fans out there about to celebrate a birthday.
First up, her inspiration:
1. I would not be able to resist making these Hello Kitty favor bags.
2. This crepe banner is so easy and looks great.
3. Cute cake alert!
4. This mom put together an amazing party table and backdrop (she has lots of other adorable ideas, too!).
5. This is a great tutorial for Hello Kitty Cake Pops that are almost too cute to eat.
6. Get yo’self a silicon HK mold and follow this tutorial for precious kitty candy melts.
7. No Hello Kitty party is complete without strawberry milk (and this recipe looks delicious!).
8. Marshmallow pops – decoration AND food!
Some other ideas: For games, the can kids play “Pin the bow on Hello Kitty!” You can also set up a bow decorating station with clips, ribbon, glue, and felt. There are also lots of Hello Kitty coloring pages available for free download here.
Annnnd…the results:
Jen says, “Even though we planned on this party theme for a while, it actually only took me a week to throw the whole thing together. I spent about three hours on the DIY stuff (the backdrop, banner, crepe banner, etc). I also put together the Hello Kitty lantern on a whim using a white paper lantern, construction paper, and glue! I used a lot of my daughter’s Hello Kitty toys and stuffed animals for the rest of the decorations. The guests had a blast and Kate had a great party!”
If you have any Hello Kitty ideas, leave ’em below!
Gen says:
Are you going to the Hello Kitty exhibition that’s in LA at the moment? I’m going in January (on my first trip to the states!) and I can’t wait!
Giselle says:
Can you and Jen throw MY next birthday party?
Shannon says:
I have always loved Hello Kitty so much, but I’m weirded out by the recent revelation that she’s not actually a cat.
Jen says:
YES, the whole Hello Kitty isn’t a cat thing is just so weird to me.
RzDrms says:
I’m still very upset (and, uh, *confused*) by that revelation!
Heather says:
I just pretend I never heard that, it’s total crap. SHE HAS WHISKERS!

Adorable! Gosh, my Hayley turned 20 in June & it seems like yesterday when I gave her a Hello Kitty party for her 5th BD (one of many HK parties over the years). She had the equivalent of a “Spohr Head” & just finally grew into it a few years ago, but with a bow on the side of her head, everyone would say she looked just like HK and she DID! Ok, enough of my mommy reminiscing, LOL! I love the different ideas & you are an awesome party planner! I wish I had your creativity, but now I have the next best thing…your site! A friend who owns a spa & salon is having its holiday party tonight & I sent her to your site for ideas from your past parties. Can’t wait to see more of your creations!
