We finally got out of the house yesterday. We’d been laying low, in recovery mode from Disneyland last week, but yesterday we reached the “must leave this house oh my gawd” stage. The weather here has been muggy and hot, so we thought it would be fun to take Annie to a little splash pad I’ve been eying since last summer.

splash pad

Annie was like, “WTF is this place?” It was like she wanted to love the splash pad, but she couldn’t trust the splash pad. There was water, and then there wasn’t, and that really pissed her off.

And then there was too much water.

Also, her dad kept doing insane things like jumping under buckets of water, which she did not think was wise.

no daddy!

Do you see her standing behind Mike there? She’s like, “This is sooooo ill advised.”

But she did eventually warm up to the place.

It was hot, the water was cool, and there were tons of other kids around. What’s not to like if you’re Annie? She had a blast splashing around with Mike.

Mike put her up on his shoulders, and she loved it up there. She was queen of the world! and all of that.

But you can just see the wheels turning in Mike’s head. He pulled her off his shoulders just in time for this:

I put my camera down at the same time Mike put Annie down because I just knew what her reaction was going to be. She looked at him, then looked at me, then looked back at him and shouted, “ALL DONE!” Then she stomped over to where I was sitting.

I started laughing because that is exactly how I would have responded to my own dad.

Later, when I showed her the pictures of the water dumping on her head, she said in typical Annie fashion, “Again wash park? Again water on my head?” Luckily for Mike, she’s not holding a grudge.
