We finally got out of the house yesterday. We’d been laying low, in recovery mode from Disneyland last week, but yesterday we reached the “must leave this house oh my gawd” stage. The weather here has been muggy and hot, so we thought it would be fun to take Annie to a little splash pad I’ve been eying since last summer.
Annie was like, “WTF is this place?” It was like she wanted to love the splash pad, but she couldn’t trust the splash pad. There was water, and then there wasn’t, and that really pissed her off.
And then there was too much water.
Also, her dad kept doing insane things like jumping under buckets of water, which she did not think was wise.
Do you see her standing behind Mike there? She’s like, “This is sooooo ill advised.”
But she did eventually warm up to the place.
It was hot, the water was cool, and there were tons of other kids around. What’s not to like if you’re Annie? She had a blast splashing around with Mike.
Mike put her up on his shoulders, and she loved it up there. She was queen of the world! and all of that.
But you can just see the wheels turning in Mike’s head. He pulled her off his shoulders just in time for this:
I put my camera down at the same time Mike put Annie down because I just knew what her reaction was going to be. She looked at him, then looked at me, then looked back at him and shouted, “ALL DONE!” Then she stomped over to where I was sitting.
I started laughing because that is exactly how I would have responded to my own dad.
Later, when I showed her the pictures of the water dumping on her head, she said in typical Annie fashion, “Again wash park? Again water on my head?” Luckily for Mike, she’s not holding a grudge.

Daddy’s gonna’ pay for that trick one of these days!! LOL It looks sooooo refreshing!
MissyK says:
Oh man! That looks like it waas tons of fun. I’ll have to check around my area to see if we have anything like that for my grandaughters when they get bigger. That “ALL DONE” & stomp away just cracked me up. Love it. She is just too adorable.

Heather, Mike and Annie,
Looks like you all had a great time and the pictures are priceless! I was wondering what kind of camera you use? I went to your photography link and your photos are amazing. I have been following your blog for years now and have laughed and cried with you.

Heather says:
I use a Canon 7D! I love it! Before that I used a Canon Rebel xsi, but after wearing out two shutters it was time for an upgrade.
Pattie says:
I don’t blame any for saying “all done.” LOL I would’ve been done, too, if I’d gotten doused like that. Then again, as hot as it’s been this summer, a visit to a splash pad might not be a bad idea.
Shannon says:
All done! Haha, super cute!!
Katherine says:
Where is this park?? I live in the SFV and I would LOVE to go to that!!
Heather says:
It’s at Oak Canyon Community Park! Freeeeeeeee!!!
Meg says:
Oh my goodness, I would have lost it if that bucket of water fell on me as a kid! I don’t like water in my eyes (I know, I know… I’m weird) and don’t generally like the ocean/pools (or any water…), but I could get behind a good splash park. Especially with it being as hot as it’s been.
Denise says:
Wow that looks fun! I wish we has a splash park.
Amber says:
This looks like SO MUCH FUN!

My two-year-old LOVES these things. I always worry that she’ll slip and break her head open on the concrete, because she gets so excited that she starts sprinting everywhere, trying to chase down the water jets. But then I remember, that’s why she’s so small. When you’re only three feet tall, you just get bumps and bruises. So, run free, little water baby. I, on the other hand, tread very carefully while I’m with her. My bowling ball head falling from six feet is a little dicier.
Jenn says:
OMG!!! How the heck did you do that last picture….moving & all. Geesh….NO WONDER I’m in AWE of YOU!!!! AWESOME!!!! xo
Sarah says:
Awesome! How is the water?
I find that at the splash parks here (BC, Canada) the water is just toooo cold, so even if it’s a warm day my kids won’t go in them.
Glad Annie liked it!
monica says:
baahahahaaa! She is such a hoot! Just LOVE her!
Tia Leah says:
How many bathing suits does this kid have. She has more swimming wardrobe than me.
Leah says:
Those pictures are gorgeous. Makes me want to get a real camera.

Oh what fabulous photos!
Jay- The Dude of the House says:
So funny, I almost took the Little Dude there yesterday. Didn’t think I’d be able to handle him there all by myself. These pictures confirmed that.
Auntie_M says:
How did you get the last picture to move like that?!?
Love, love, love these shots!! What a fun day!
