We are all waiting with you!
Love all the pink but don’t like the teaser on the name.
Hmmm….A…..I hear Anne is a great choice!
Can’t wait to meet her!

I also hear that Anne is a wonderful name!! :o) But, whatever you name her will be perfect! Good luck, pretty lady! Sending much love from the cold Northland!!
I just love pink baby clothes and remember how exciting it was washing all the pink clothes and folding the tiny pieces for my little girl. It looks like Binky has some gorgeous outfits to wear, I can’t wait to see photos of her in them. I hope you are not too uncomfortable, lovely lady. Wishing you a peaceful week-end.
With love

agreed. Perfect post, I got chills of excitement reading it! And I love, love the teaser/foreshadow of the letter A. HM, will be thinking on that one!

Pink is so much fun! Lots of A names are running through my head. Are you going to share? Keeping you, Mike and Binky in my prayers!

I’m gonna take a guess here and say Addison… how adorable is Addison Spohr? Drivin us crazy with the teaser Miss Heather!

Addisyn is what I named my little girl(got it from Grey’s) and that is the first name that popped into my head as well! They can call her Addie for short! Or Adelyn is another one that come into mind
I can’t wait to meet her! Oh, and I’ve been trying to imagine what her name will be since, what, halfway through your pregnancy?
Wish you the best of luck in the coming weeks!
How totally adorable…. I wished I was young enough to still have a daughter, just looking at all those tiny pink things you have now. I raised 3 boys so always have been a sucker for girl things…
The A makes me super curious…

Aww.. that is just sweet.. was that a poem or something? It’s just short but convey’s a lot of emotions.. I have a daughter too but her color motiff is lilac… It’s just almost the same as pink right? Well, best of luck on your being a supermom gurl..
So excited for you guys… those things are so beautiful. That dress n the left in the first photo is so sweet! Binky’s new friends are going to be so lucky to have such a well dressed young lady to hang out with My name guess? I’m going to say Alice, but maybe Amy.

Heather – I’ve been reading your blog for months – since Maddie passed away I guess. I have never posted before, but have always really enjoyed (is that the right word?) your heartfelt posts and have often given my own kids extra hugs and kisses because of what you have written and what you and Mike have gone through. I feel like I know you guys, which is probably a little weird for you! I’m writing this comment today because the unthinkable happened yesterday. My almost 4 month old nephew died yesterday. He had had lots of health problems and a long NICU stay, 3 months, but was doing well, had gone home 3 weeks ago, and was expected to make a full recovery. We are all devastated, and in shock. I’m headed from MN to CA to be with my brother and his wife, and I am at a loss as how to support them in this awful time. Do you have any advice for me? I want to help them through this terrible time any way I can. I’m so sorry for your loss and what you and your family have gone through, and I hope this doesn’t bring back too many painful memories (although I’m sure you think about Maddie constantly no matter what). Thank you and God Bless you and your new baby to be.
Heather wrote an awesome post about the what to says and how to help awhile back with some great specifics. Look back through. Maybe Juneish, maybe even as early as May. It may have been more specific to her, but as I remember it was pretty general and might help. I will see if I can find it. My heart goes out to you and your family. Travel safely.
Heather’s post was great as to the what to says, etc. There is also another blog that posted a great “what to say/do”. http://prairie-mama.blogspot.com/. Hope that helps you and your family during this horrific time. My heart goes out to you.
Such beautiful things. Even the “A “!! I wonder what her name is? Have you told your “real” friens? I’m so excited so I can imagine what you are feeling!!!
Is it Abigail (Abby)? Is it? Is it? “A” has some beautiful things and adorable fuzzy friends waiting for her. Plus a massive Internet community who is praying for her safe delivery and can’t wait to meet her.
It’s the home stretch now. Hope you have as comfortable a weekend as you can, Heather!!!
Yay! Those preparations are soooo much better than packing for a trip! It’s amazing how small those clothes are!
.-= Alex´s last blog ..Introducing the two most important players. =-.
I loved those pictures and especially love the dress with the crochet hat (pictured twice) – gorgeous! When I was pregnant with my daughter I swore I’d never put her in so much pink. Well, I’ve since eaten my words because she’s got tons of it in her wardrobe, along with other dark and light colors mixed in between.
I couldn’t help but smile BIG when I saw the letter “A” hanging on the door – my daughter’s name is Ainsley.
Sending you lots of love, peace and happiness from New York. Your blog constantly inspires me to be a better, more loving mom and touches my heart in ways I could never fully explain.
Love, Love, Love all the gorgeous pink things!! I’m the mom of 7….3 of them are girls. I love them all but have an extra special love for all things pink.
Only a privileged few got to know our daughter’s name before she was born; the rest referred to her as Baby L. Her nursery is covered with Ls on the wall, just like Binky’s A. Can’t wait for the big reveal!
totally the way to go. that way nobody gets to criticize, suggest other options, point out ways kids can mock your baby’s name… though we did figure out on our own that at some point, our daughter will probably be referred to as lydia chlamydia.
one person guessed lydia was born, but the way the guessed was, “you wouldn’t name her lydia, would you?” uhhhh… yeah! i just smiled.
.-= Laurie´s last blog ..Bookworm? =-.
When can WE know Binky’s initials?? Or is that secret for a few more weeks too? What if one of your reader’s wants to make her a little monogrammed dress (hint, hint)? We need those initials!!!!
Your’s is the first blog I read every morning. And I am getting more excited by the day.
Love all the pink!
There’s something about pink baby clothes that changes the flow of a home (well it did for me anyways…)
My guess is “Abby” or “Alice”
Oh!! How exciting! Love those tiny, girlie clothes! I am being induced Wednesday and cannot wait to see if I will be buying pink or blue Lots of prayers!
Lovely words “We spent the day in a sea of pink.”
Letter “A”— I love the image that the letter “A” is a triangle( Mom Dad and Baby) supported by two posts (Mom and Dad)
Thinking of an old southern song “Aura Lee” sung to the tune of “Love Me Tender.” Aura Lee is the name I am guessing.
I usually do not post on blogs but a babys name is so special whatever you name her will be from the heart I am sure of that.
Sending Love Across the Miles!!!
PS Smile, even if you think you can not smile, it will make you feel better while you wait for your “A”
I am sooo happy for you guys! I am a sucker for pink but never got the chance to dress any of my kids in pink. I had two boys and now Im to old to have any more . I cant wait to hear her name and meet the new little addition to your family.:)
Hugs
Doing my first load of baby laundry was so fun. I still enjoy washing my little girl’s things… She’s due this Sunday! Now we wait, indeed. I love these pictures!

I guess “Amelia”. You are a tease! Oh the socks, the socks, the socks. It occurs to me I bet you have a c section date….You’re so sweet to let us come along on this ride. It has been amazing to follow along and cheer for your from the side lines. I hope you have time to update us when you get busy with Miss A. Oh and I love that Dreft smell. It is the best. And all the washing and folding makes it so real and exciting. Like Christmas Eve. Enjoy your last few days with little miss wiggling and kicking you. Soon you will be looking into her sweet little face.
Damn you Heather , are you going to keep us in suspense until the baby comes home???? Is it, Abigail, or Alison? Like I predicted???? Oh Heather, don’t do this to us! LET US KNOW!!!!!
I have been through “the wait” twice and so one would think I woudn’t be one of those annoying girls. However, I check daily to see if you’ve had that baby girl yet! It’s totally not the same, but I am waiting in anticipation like so many others! xoxo
The name Abigail popped into my head right away! Now I’m really curious. I’m sure you’ve picked a beatiful name for your precious little baby girl. No matter what her name will be, just be sure to avoid a middle name starting with an S. Think of those initials!
Thought I give the song “Aura Lee” a listen then decided to post it for you! The song has the word Azure in the lyrics. I think azure is a purplish blue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOPQ0ZlEU5E&feature=related
Hope your day will be filled with many pleasant senses!!
Sorry for a double post I don’t know if that is against the rules,
Sending Love Across the Miles & remember to smile even if it is a forced smile it will help.
Such lovely tiny, little clothes. I love the saying on the bear. So true. Binky is very, very lucky to be coming into a home filled with so much love.
Waiting, waiting, waiting. Once everything is done and it’s just waiting, it seems to take so long for a day to pass.
Blessings to you all.
Awww so precious!! I’m so beyond excited for you right now!! I’m anxious to see what that beautiful baby looks like, and what her name is!

like everyone else,
i am Anticipating the Arrival of Another baby girl.
and the Announcement of her name.
thanks for teasing us…although, i will laugh my A__ off if the a was a random letter and NOT the beginning of her name.
My guess? Abigail…or Abby…for the beloved Abby Cadabby..
Oh my gosh, Heather…great name by the way…my oldest daughter is also Heather! I’ve been a “lurker” for over a year now…I cried with you when you lost Maddie, but just couldn’t say anything…I cried for joy when I read that you were pregnant with Binky, but again I couldn’t say anything…but now, I just have to tell you that I am so freaking excited for you and Mike…oh and my ex-husband (and now one of my best friends) is named Mike…HA! Everyday when I turn on my computer, before I even read my e-mail, I go to your Web site to read about how you are doing. I feel like you are my long lost sister that I keep in touch with via computer…how weird! I love to read your friends’ posts though…what an awesome and amazing support group you have! Just know that many prayers are being said for you here in Indiana!
So adorable! Being the mother of a BOY, I dream of girl clothes and literally drool whenever I’m around them. I want to buy girl clothes even though we don’t have a girl!
I have a couple guesses on the name. I agree it might be Alice but also Anne (Annie). She’ll be in your arms very very soon…
You had to know that the A was going to get people talking!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see pics of the beauty!

Aaaah, I’m so curious!! As almost evry person who reads this blog whose name starts with an “A” I’mg going with my own name. Well I guess not really this version because it’s not really popular in english, but Amalia then.
Abigail?
Anna?
Amanda?
I’m so excited, I can’t wait to see Binky, wathever her name is!
I’m so happy to see all of the little pink outfits lined up and waiting for baby A.
I have been thinking that you would choose an A name for a long time thinking of your lovely grand mother Mary Alice and your beautiful Madelyn Alice. Can’t wait to see what the final choice is but I’m sure it will be perfect for this much anticipated little girl.
Gosh – I can’t believe how excited I am for you! I have a feeling Binky is going to look just like her big sister. I am a long time lurker that also fell in love with your beautiful daughter and your wonderful writing. Tick tock! Can’t wait to “meet” Binky!
all the pink makes me almost want to have another baby.
almost.

I can’t wait to hear her name. You are a tease, but I think everyone is loving the “guess the name” game!
Maybe it’s not an “A” name. Maybe it’s Heather saying “A”hhh… I am not telling!
I think of you often Heather and how much you and Mike have gone through.
I feel that with Binky your family will finally see the sun after the dark days. Granted, it will always be a bit cloudy because Maddie is not here physically, but you will have a bit of sunshine in your life.
Can’t wait until we get to see pictures of your beautiful baby girl! As for A names… Addison? Adelaide? Addelyn?

i am one of those anonymous folks who read your blog routinely and think of you, mike, maddie, and binky every day. you are an incredible family. i wish you all the very best during these last few weeks of anticipation, and beyond, once wee little A arrives.
Heather posted awhile back a photo of a rack of keychains with A names. Said Binky’s name wasn’t there. At that point we knew Binky’s name started with A.
So we all now have to go back and see what nams are in that pic! I remember Alice not being in the pic. At that point I thought Alice. It’s Maddie’s middle name.
I’m an avid reader as well… never posted before. BUT, maybe the way they are choosing to spell Abby or Abigayle or whatever wasn’t there. I always saw “Kristen” but never MY name “Christen” on those things!
Ok… now I have to get a twitter account, thanks a lot!!!! That picture has been up since OCTOBER? And all this time I have been guessing Abby! Ugh, I was so uninformed!
Soooo….. Alice is not there, neither is Annabelle, or Amelia or Addison. This is so FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How cute! We just found out we’re having girls yesterday and this post has really put me in the mood to get ready. So precious!
I usually lurk, but this post of quiet expectation touched me.
Best wishes to you and Binky, whatever her name will be. Hey, A is good, she’ll be near the front when put in alphabetical order.

That blanket is gorgeous! Where did you get that adorable dress that is in the first picture? Actually, where do you do all your baby girl clothes shopping? Your daughters have got to have the loveliest wardrobes ever!!!!
I had a dream before the birth of my second where I was riding a horse up a hill and having a hard time of it. I was bumped and jolted and trying not to fall off, just hanging on for dear life. Then I heard a voice saying, “Ride the horse. Don’t let the horse ride you.” So, I relaxed in the saddle and leaned forward and flew up the hill on the horse.
Aw, such a cute sea of pink! The little dress with the cherry blossoms and teeny tiny socks is killing me with cuteness!

I’m SO excited for you! Love the pink…I have a boy, and while I absolutely love being a “boy mom”, the wardrobe choices are rather lacking. I hope to one day get to try some pink and ruffles.
Love the A too (my son is Avery, lol). I’m guessing Abigail (Abby) or Alice. Can’t wait to meet miss Binky!

i am so excited for you i can barely contain myself. i have a baby boy, so my life is all about browns, blues and neutrals. LOVING all the pink. Baby “A” is one lucky girl. so many hugs to you. xoxo
Hi Spohr family! Heather the clothes are beautiful and I can’t wait to see her in them! The “A” I am going to guess is for Abigail, maybe Abby for short? I would say because Maddy is such a Abby Cadabee (not sure if that is spelled right) fan? I love that….Maddy and Abby! Just a guess though. You look beautiful Heather and I wish you a great but quick final couple of weeks! We love you all and will be waiting in anticipation!

You are on the ball! I am due in 3 weeks and a bit of a procrastinator. We have an A named picked for our little girl, too. Our goal is to wash up the sea of pink this weekend
This is my first time posting to you; one of those that never knows what to say… your blog is one of my weekly checks. You and your family are thought about often.
You must get the biggest kick out of these posts!! We all act like we’re related and have some say in the name!! Ok, here are my guesses:
Allie
Abbie
Amanda
Addison
Alissa
Do we win anything if we guess it??
Your photos are precious… I can see you’re getting excited about baby girl A’s arrival.. and so are we!!! something big to celebrate!!
xoxoxo
Oh, how funny! I was going to say the same thing..”we” are quite funny!! Heather, we give up, we surrender….so come on and tell us….we have played so nicely! lol “A” wouldn’t happen to be a little special someone on Sesame Street, would it?? So excited for you and Mike! Wishing you nothing but the best! Keep us posted…we cannot stand it! Oh and did I mention that I totally heart pink!
A hint that finally didn’t go over my head. So Binky’s name begins with an “A”. So many beautiful names . . . Abigail (which is my daughter’s name so I’m very partial to that one) Amelia, Amy, Alexandra, Allison, Anne, Alissa, and the list goes on. So I guess I will just have to hurry up and wait. Everything looks beautiful for little Miss A.
You tease! My daughters name starts with an “A” too! But I doubt they will be the same! I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours….:) I’ll keep a secret! Pinky swear! I’m really excited for you and mIke…how wonderful! Can’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than snuggling with a new babe! You posted a line from a poem awhile back, and then soon after revealed somewhere that Binky’s name started with an A, and I wondered if part of your reason for posting that line was a hint to Binky’s name…I’m probably reading way too much into it. But the name in the poem does start with an A. Can’t wait to hear what A name you’ve chosen.
Ooohh love the pics. An “A” name. Hmm…I am guessing Amelia (LOVE!), Alice (so sweet and a tribute) or maybe something different like Adelaide or Adele? My daughter is Adelaide and we LOVE the name.
I love it! My guess is A for Abby or Abigail or maybe Alice…Now all of the A names are running through my mind. Can’t wait to find out what the A is for!

I love the sea of pink, I might be biased as it’s my favorite color, and between my husband and I we have 5 daughters, but I love the pink! I can’t wait to find out what the A stands for, thanks for the suspense!
Love all the adorable pink clothes. Still so happy for you all.
I’m wondering if that A was actually part of a name vs the first letter. Hmm we’ll all be thinking till that beautiful baby arrives.
I’ve been following your blog a bit, and love your new baby news. An “A” name..hmmmm…I look forward to hearing what you’ve chosen, something that sounds really nice with “Madeline” I’m sure.
You have been through so much. I hope you have much joy and love ahead of you.
Well I’ve been thinking for a while that you might name Binky, Abby because Maddie would really get a kick out of that. Then I saw the “A” and now I’m even more convinced. There are so many beautiful A names though that I doubt you can go wrong!
Ava, Amelia, Addison, Adrienne, Ainsley, Allison, Adelyn, etc, etc, etc….
Can’t wait!! Good luck to you and Mike and of course Miss A:)
I think Binky’s name will be Abigail but love the guessing game – makes anticipating such a precious event in your lives that much more special and heartwarming:
Aliana (Allie for short and very close to the name Alice)
Abilene
Adeline
Ainsley (my ultimate favorite – my daughter’s name!)
Alyson
Alina/Aleena
Aurelia
Alyssa
Binky’s name has already been chosen and Madeline is joyously shouting her name with such love!!
Yes! You certainly don’t hear that name often. I used to babysit for a little girl named Afton when I was a teenager, and I always remembered the name. I knew I’d have my own Afton one day:)
Once, when filling out a getting-to-know-you questionaire for her 3rd grade class, the very last question was: What do you like best about yourself? and my daughter wrote “My name.” as her answer. I tell ya, it just melted my heart to read that.

OMG!! This post just brought many tears to my eyes! I am so happy for you and Mike. Seeing all those precious pink and purple clothes just makes it seems so much more real (even for us internet folks!! )
‘delurking’ (how i hate that word) to tell you how excited i am for you and mike and how much you deserve to have these moments and savor them.
i was watching one of those psychic shows once and the guy who was on there was sad that his mom, who had died the year before, had never gotten the chance to hold his new baby. the psychic told him that he was wrong, his mom had gotten to hold and see the baby before anyone else. it brought tears to my eyes. so before you think little alice (my guess) won’t know her big sister, think again. little maddie knew her and played with her before you did. sending lots of love and prayers your way.
we left the walls purple, and there are green accents throughout the room. But for Binky we incorporated pink. Although it’s less of an incorporation and more of an EXPLOSION.
I’m sure it’s lovely! I’m 25 and MY room is still purple with green accents. I’m probably too old to get away with pink explosions though. I can’t wait to see the little darling girl!
nope, im changing my mind. after thinking about it some more (no i don’t have much going on today) i don’t think you would go with alice. we had two girls born early at 20 weeks, and though we’ve discussed it, i know we would probably not feel comfortable using their names again. so i doubt you are going with alice…maybe alyson? or allison?
.-= lisa´s last blog ..ugh =-.
That was my thought as well. Binky needs her own name, I think….I guess I just wouldn’t want her to feel like she’s living in Maddie’s shadow if that makes sense. I hope that’s not inappropriate to say and I don’t mean it with any negativity. But of course, this is only Heather and Mike’s decision, and whatever they choose will be perfect for their beautiful girl!
Love all the sweet things you have for your new little treasure!
Meant to reply yesterday also about the c-section post – I was also extremely worried about the staples but honestly, I never felt anything. That area is actually still kind of numb and it’s been 2.5 years since I had my c-section. Getting them out scared me, but when they actually came out? I barely felt anything. Definitely not any pain. It’s not a “happy thought” thinking about staples but honestly, it was hardly anything for me, and I hope it like that for you too.
Such sweetness. Beautiful photos. I especially love the first one, of those cute pink footsie pajamas just waiting to be worn by Binky. And does that brown wooden, “A” on the door mean that you’re naming Binky an “A” name? ;o)
I am so happy for you and Mike! SHE’S ALMOST HERE! ^o^
Aww I love a sea of pink. I have 5 neices and everyone always says we need a baby boy in the family … but I don’t think so I wouldn’t trade my sea of pink for the world. Enjoy smelling and feeling those beautiful clothes. That’s the thing with baby clothes they’re all so cute who can resist. Binky aka Baby A … is a lucky girl. I can’t wait to hear her name!
Great pictures! Pink is so much fun! I had 23 little dresses hanging up in the closet for my firstborn – 27 yrs ago we didn’t know the gender before birth. I had an 8# 13 oz. BOY. So I guess it’s really good you know “A” is a girl for sure. Can’t wait to see her name in lights!
oh dressing little girls is the most fun ever! I got two – I’m hoping that the A stands for Anna … that’s my youngest daughter’s name!

BINKY IS NO LONGER, NOW ITS MISS A…LOVE THAT…I AM ALSO GOING WITH ABIGAIL..THAT IS MY LITTLE GIRLS NAME AND ITS PERFECT…BUT I MUST SAY WHATEVER A NAME YOU AND MIKE CHOOSE FOR THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN IS BINKY WILL BE PERFECT….CANT WAIT TO HEAR WHAT HER TRUE NAME IS…GOOD LUCK HEATHER!!!
She is all set! Is her name Avery? Just trying to guess
The smell of Dreft brings me memories of when Jimena was newborn (now 2 and a half). I think I’ll use it until she goes to collage and then she’ll chose and earth friendly one
I love the blanket with the purple flower, so personal, so special
Seeing all that pink and that beautiful A brought tears to my eyes as I cry again for my sweet niece Annie gone now 5 months but still so raw and painful.
Wishing you all the best, can’t wait to see the lovely Miss A!

I’ve been reading your blog since Maddie passed and have always admired your honesty and willingness to share what you are going through. You are such a beautiful family and I can’t wait to see the next addition. I think of you often and wish you all the luck and love in the world x x
Heather- I’m so happy for you and Mike… my first time posting and reaching out to you, but I just wanted to share in the excitement. I love to check in on you! I love the smell of Dreft… and the pink is just perfect!
Thrilled for you!! I can think of no one more deserving than you to be blessed enough to cuddle a newborn! She will be as beautiful as her big sis; I’m certain of it!
I am thinking Albree for the name. I first heard that name last year and it really stuck with me but after 4 girls we are done done done. We did stick an Ashley in there,
I love the name Audrey!!! That’s my grandma’s name, and like your grandma, Heather, she means the WORLD to our entire family. I am going to copy your idea (if that’s ok) and name honor her by using her name as our daughter’s middle name. Nothing could be sweeter than that!!!!!!
My little girl is an Audrey. Audrey Isabelle.
I would gladly share the name with you.
Not long to go now.

Yes, I’m back to comment again cause another name just dawned on me. Angel or Angela since Binky is a gift sent from an angel.
I love name guessing and there are soooo many A names that I adore!
Alicia or possibly Ainsley b/c I think you’ve mentioned Irish roots in your family too, right?
Bye!!!! Be back on Monday to check on you guys :o)
Reading the comments is so much fun! Everyone is so creative! I wondered a while back if you’d name her Alice, but I never thought of Abby. I’m sure whatever beautiful name you have picked out will be gorgeous. The little bitty baby clothes are darling. Sending you so much love and so many prayers, Susan
.-= woo222´s last blog ..Thief =-.
I believe the A will represent a formof Alice or Alicia or Allison, etc. in honor of Maddie.
I have to tell you, though, that I named my second daughter Heather 19 years ago. I just love to say the name. So soft, pretty. She fits it well. Your Binky will fit her name perfectly, too.

I’m one of your silent followers. Keeping you and your family in much prayer as you wait for another precious miracle. Excitedly waiting right along with you.
I love how you revealed that letter A, such a sweet glimpse into something so intimate! I’m not a mom yet and have no idea what Dreft is. When I saw the little socks I went “awwwww” aloud.
I am thinking Abby or Abigail as some others have suggested (for obvious reasons) but if I’m wrong then maybe it’s Alexandra. I have ulterior motives though, Alexandra is my daughters name and hey you can’t go wrong with that name, anyway you shorten it, it still sounds great
I think it’s Abigail and I just love that name! We wanted to use it for our daughter that was just born on 12/22 yet another friend of mine had already used it ;-(. If that is the name, it’s just perfect!
.-= Dana´s last blog ..Sun, Jan 3, 2010 =-.
SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! Those little socks are making my ovaries hurt so bad! I can’t wait to see pictures of your beautiful, wonderful, special little girl. Soon mommy, very soon!
we named our firstborn twin Ayla and her sister was Juliet…they came way too early in October and we lost them due to PPROM…my little nephew is Avery and he was born the day after my girls. i like Avery for a girl too, though.
whatever A name you chose im sure it will suit her beautifully!
yes i have been reading since sadly, just a week or two before you lost maddie. hate that word lost but i dont have a better one. yours was a blog that once i found it, i went way back to the beginning and read every post up until i was current. i loved reading your family’s story even though parts of it are so unfair. i was thinking of you when i was in the hospital, thankful i had at least heard of what i had through you. it made things a little bit easier to understand, if not easier to live through. your maddie was something else, girl. she was an amazing little love with a huge light around her. i have no doubt that she is still doing wonderful things on this earth. and i really hope she met my little pumpkins up there some where. can’t wait to hear all about this next part of your life.
I LOVE that you gave us a little hint of what her name will be. I am guessing either Amelia, Alice (in honor of her big sister), Addison (although “Addie” might be a bit too much the same as Maddie but that is okay!), Annika, Annalisa. There are SO MANY awesome A-names! Which ever once you choose will be the PERFECT one! HUGS! (And I LOVE the pics of all those little tiny baby clothes! I can’t wait to get pregnant again – after having a miscarriage, I want so badly to have a little one. I can’t wait to have all those tiny little baby things!)
I loved reading all the guesses. I’m going to throw in my 2 cents and say the Irish Aisling (or one of its very many variants) just because of the meaning “dream”
Whatever name you have chosen I am sure it will suit Binky perfectly!
i’ve been reading your DAILY for several months now…i’m so excited for you and can’t wait for the post showing sweet baby A…i just started reading all your posts that i’ve missed over the years in your archieves – you and mike are just the best parents, and baby A is so lucky to have you – and her special angel – maddie – looking after her…i’ve just read all the comments here on this post, and only one other person thought the way i do on the A name..anissa – for anissa mayhew…can’t wait to find out!…..thank you for sharing all that you do, i, like tons of others, feel as if i know you – and we are friends. i pray for you daily and truely wish an abundance of happiness for you and your entire family – in all that you have to look forward to. xoxoxo
I had a dream last night that Binky was here and you couldn’t get over how big she was. She was wearing a strawberry shortcake sleeper and you were so happy.
My guess for her name has always been Abigail, and when you put up a picture of the letter A, I thought “yep definately Abigail” I can’t wait to see her. and to see if I am right. lol
LOVE all the pink stuff! I just finished washing a load of blue stuff….Due in about 3 weeks with our 2nd (a boy this time!). Getting nervous about the whole delivery thing-our 1st was 5 weeks early and spent a week in the NICU and we’re really hoping to avoid that this time around. I’m 35 weeks now but will have #2 by 38 weeks (been diabetic since I was 11-I feel for ya on all the tests,etc-I’m testing my blood sugar 15-20 times a day right now-my poor fingers are torn apart!). I’m so not prepared yet though….just got the diaper bag, carseat is on its way (but not here yet), our bag is not packed yet-last time since I went into early labor, we sent my dad back to our house to pack our bag-BAD idea! I asked for my cell phone charger and he brought the base to our cordless phone…. 1 more week of work and then I’m off-I’m a nurse at UCLA I’ll be thinking of you in the next few weeks-I know the closer I get to the end, the more nervous I get!
Heather and Megan,
Just wanted to say I know first hand how hard it is to control those BS (Blood Sugars) You never ever get a break from diabetes. Twenty two years ago I was in Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital learning as much as I could about diabetes but it seemed as if I was being given a drop of knowledge at a time, I learn something new everyday about diabetes and I am in the process of trying to get insurance to cover the BS sensor that accompanies the insulin pump, Those two devices are very freeing, they sure do help with control. Two sons twelve years apart in age and both diabetic. I hope you both are ready when your baby is ready to enter their new world. ICU and kids what a combo, wish it wasn’t that way but it is and we deal with it. Wishing you the best, it helps to smile even when there is nothing to smile about. The smile is a secret taught to me by a very wise man.
Thanks! I’ve been diabetic since I was 12 (almost 18 years at this time!) so I’m used to the whole testing my blood sugar thing. I wear a pump as well (for the last 13 years) and my sister is also a Type 1 diabetic and wears the Minimed pump with the CGMS (continuous glucose monitor system) and loves it. I’m so ready to be able to eat without taking massive amounts of insulin though! I was on about 30-40 units/day prior to getting pregnant and am on about 100 units a day now. My 1st was born at 35 weeks (she has an A name too-Aubrey ) and I am currently 35 weeks! I’m hoping to make it 3 more weeks or so. We’ll see!
LOL about the cordless phone base!! That is very funny and cute!!! Sometimes new grandpas try so hard but can’t get it right!!! Adorable!! Good luck with your new bundle, Megan!!!
Thanks! It was pretty funny when my dad walked into the hospital room holding the cordless phone base We’re trying to be a bit more prepared this time….Diaper bag is packed, room is pretty much together. We’re planning on getting the carseat tomorrow and installing it and clothes are mostly washed. Just patiently waiting now….I’m also going to try and hit up every Target in the LA area tomorrow (despite the pouring rain)-I found the most comfortable cashmere like soft pants that are PERFECT for the hospital and am looking for the matching hoodie
Annabel (though spelling may differ) is my definite guess. It’s a beautiful, classic, elegant name with a sweet nickname, just like Madeline. I’m just curious to know the pronunciation: Ann-uh-belle, or Ahn-uh-belle! If I’m correct, that is.
I have to say, Dreft might be the best smell in the whole world!!! When my angel was tiny (maybe 4 weeks or so) he started getting a little rash on his face… I took him to the pediatrician and she said he was allergic to something- probably a detergent. I was so confused, because I washed everything of his in Dreft!! She said since it was only on his face, it was probably from nursing- that his face was rubbing on my skin, and there was just enough detergent left on my clothes to still be on me and it irritated his sensitive little newborn cheeks.
The solution? I had to start washing all of MY clothes in Dreft too!! I was happy to try it, it totally fixed the problem, and now I get to smell that lovely baby detergent all day long, even when he is too busy to cuddle!!!! He is over a year now, so he probably doesn’t have such sensitive skin anymore, and I could probably go back to Tide for my own clothes, but I won’t!!! I just love the Dredt smell way too much!!!!
Soooooooooooo happy for you, Mama Spohr!!! Happy nesting!!!
You’re in my thoughts Heather. I remember the soft scent of dreft. That excitement of being at the ready and then waiting…and waiting…and waiting. I will think of you as you round the final stretch of this pregnancy. I’ve read every post even if I haven’t commented. This one? Made me tear up.

Heather and Mike…
I feel like I’m waiting for the news of your baby girl’s like I would a family member. I have been praying that you would have a baby to hold and love in your arms…and that precious gift is almost here. You are the best parents and will never realize how much you have helped so many through tough times…thinking if they can walk through the fire…then certainly I can walk through what ever trial I am facing. I’m wondering if your little princesses name will be Abby. That is my second daughters name. Her middle name is Catherine named after my sister who was about two years older than me when she died at 19. I have always missed her dearly, but I know my mom is with her now and they have been making up for lost time. I wish you more happiness and joy than I can put into words. Hugs…to all of you
I thought and thought about the A teaser all weekend… and it hit me last nite! Abby… after Abby Cadabby… Maddie’s favorite Sesame Street character. Would be a great way to honor Maddie yet give Binky her own identity. Just a guess. Hope I”m right! I’m a big fan of A names… I’m april, my daughter is Ava. love and hugs from NJ!
Ooooh…so excited to learn Binky’s name. And I love all the pink girlie clothes…! I have a young son, and the clothes just aren’t as cute as they are for little gals.

Thank you and God Bless you and your new baby to be.

totally the way to go. that way nobody gets to criticize, suggest other options, point out ways kids can mock your baby’s name… though we did figure out on our own that at some point, our daughter will probably be referred to as lydia chlamydia.

The name Abigail popped into my head right away! Now I’m really curious. I’m sure you’ve picked a beatiful name for your precious little baby girl. No matter what her name will be, just be sure to avoid a middle name starting with an S. Think of those initials!
Megan says:

Oh my gosh, Heather…great name by the way…my oldest daughter is also Heather! Everyday when I turn on my computer, before I even read my e-mail, I go to your Web site to read about how you are doing. I feel like you are my long lost sister that I keep in touch with via computer…how weird! I love to read your friends’ posts though…what an awesome and amazing support group you have! I had a dream before the birth of my second where I was riding a horse up a hill and having a hard time of it. I was bumped and jolted and trying not to fall off, just hanging on for dear life. I think Binky’s name will be Abigail but love the guessing game – makes anticipating such a precious event in your lives that much more special and heartwarming:
Aliana (Allie for short and very close to the name Alice)
Abilene

Ainsley (my ultimate favorite – my daughter’s name!)
Alyson
Alina/Aleena
Aurelia
Alyssa
Binky’s name has already been chosen and Madeline is joyously shouting her name with such love!!
Katrina says:
Audriana
Afton
Avery
Aislynn
Aria
(my girls’ names)
I love Alice – especially because you don’t hear it that often anymore:)

Sending lots of love and prayers your way!!

My guess is Anabelle (or Annabel)! Or Angelica.
When is she coming???
Juliana says:
I’m nosy, but I also wondered if you had re-painted the nursery. Purple seems to be Maddie’s color. Is Baby A’s color pink?
Heather says:
we left the walls purple, and there are green accents throughout the room. But for Binky we incorporated pink. Although it’s less of an incorporation and more of an EXPLOSION.
Juliana says:
I’m sure it’s lovely! I’m 25 and MY room is still purple with green accents. I’m probably too old to get away with pink explosions though. I can’t wait to see the little darling girl!

nope, im changing my mind. after thinking about it some more (no i don’t have much going on today) i don’t think you would go with alice. we had two girls born early at 20 weeks, and though we’ve discussed it, i know we would probably not feel comfortable using their names again. so i doubt you are going with alice…maybe alyson? or allison?

lisa says:
their MIDDLE names i meant…of course, we would never reuse their names.
ugh…im not thinking straight today

Adrianne says:
That was my thought as well. Binky needs her own name, I think….I guess I just wouldn’t want her to feel like she’s living in Maddie’s shadow if that makes sense. I hope that’s not inappropriate to say and I don’t mean it with any negativity. But of course, this is only Heather and Mike’s decision, and whatever they choose will be perfect for their beautiful girl!
Kate says:
I’m guessing Alice. Whatever her name is, Madeline will be so proud
Leigh says:
Love all the sweet things you have for your new little treasure!
Meant to reply yesterday also about the c-section post – I was also extremely worried about the staples but honestly, I never felt anything. That area is actually still kind of numb and it’s been 2.5 years since I had my c-section. Getting them out scared me, but when they actually came out? I barely felt anything. Definitely not any pain. It’s not a “happy thought” thinking about staples but honestly, it was hardly anything for me, and I hope it like that for you too.
Thinking of you all!
Leigh
ps – my name guess is Amelia
Heather says:
the staples are TOTALLY a mental thing. the mere idea of them freaks me out. I know I won’t be able to feel them but I’ll KNOW THEY’RE THERE!

yes i have been reading since sadly, just a week or two before you lost maddie. hate that word lost but i dont have a better one. yours was a blog that once i found it, i went way back to the beginning and read every post up until i was current. i loved reading your family’s story even though parts of it are so unfair. i was thinking of you when i was in the hospital, thankful i had at least heard of what i had through you. it made things a little bit easier to understand, if not easier to live through. your maddie was something else, girl. she was an amazing little love with a huge light around her. i have no doubt that she is still doing wonderful things on this earth. and i really hope she met my little pumpkins up there some where. can’t wait to hear all about this next part of your life.

I LOVE that you gave us a little hint of what her name will be.

Cindy says:
Megan says:
We’ll see!
Laura says:
LOL about the cordless phone base!! That is very funny and cute!!! Sometimes new grandpas try so hard but can’t get it right!!! Adorable!! Good luck with your new bundle, Megan!!!
Megan says:
Juliana says:
Annabel (though spelling may differ) is my definite guess. It’s a beautiful, classic, elegant name with a sweet nickname, just like Madeline. I’m just curious to know the pronunciation: Ann-uh-belle, or Ahn-uh-belle! If I’m correct, that is.
Leslie says:
All that little pink stuff is making me sooooooooooooo excited to meet Binky! I am counting down the days.
Love you.
