James went from butterfly crawl to pulling to a stand to cruising in a week. Now he can stand independently, and he even tries to take steps. The boy is supremely overconfident in his abilities, but it’s going to pay off because one of these days he’ll attempt a step…and he’ll do it. Then there’ll be no stopping him!

James gets into everything. I can pretty much leave him alone in his crib…and that’s it. He has amazingly long arms that can reach juuuuust a bit further than anyone anticipates, so don’t leave anything even close to where he might be able to reach it or it’s all over. He’s constantly trying to break out of his baby-gated area, or his room, or my arms…pretty much anything that attempts to contain him. I have to practically lay on top of him to change his diapers, because he just wants to flip over and crawl away.

He’s become quite attached to Mike. The second James hears Mike’s key in the front door, he’s scrambling to get to the edge of his gated area, as close to Mike as possible. He then stands there and babbles and calls for Mike until he comes over to pick him up. He’s glued to Mike for the rest of the night. It’s adorable, and also gives me a little bit of breathing room.

Speaking of babbling, I thought his first word would be some sort of derivative of “Annie,” but James now says “Mama” and “Dada” with regularity.  Annie hilariously spends time every day trying to get James to say her name. James loves the attention, but has yet to repeat her name back. Keep trying, Annie!

Ten Months

His birthday is only two months away…holy moly.
