We’re easing back into regular life. The kids are having a hard time with sleeping, especially. Going to bed is rough because their bodies think it’s three hours earlier, which means they’re waking up late in the morning – something I normally wouldn’t complain about, but it’s a vicious cycle! Swim lessons and other scheduled activities start this week, so I’m anticipating a few rough days of not-enough-sleep around here. A small price to pay to spend a week in paradise.

Father’s Day is next week…how did that happen?! Mike is one of those dads who says he doesn’t want anything, so I’m always looking for gift ideas. Every year I get annoyed by the gift guides I come across because they are always so alcohol-centric. Now, I love a hand-engraved flask or a pun-y beer stein as much as the next girl, but I know most dads aren’t the booze-soaked bros some gift guides suggest. Here are some non-alcohol-related gift ideas if you’re still looking!

What are the dads in your life getting next weekend?
~There was a time in my life where I was (stupidly) all about tanning, but after losing my aunt and some of my friends’ mothers to skin cancer, I am now all about covering up at the beach. James and I wore rash guards (or UV Shirts) over our SPF every day, and I managed to get one on Annabel almost every day (she sometimes complained it was too hot to wear one). Even Mike eventually wore one. I highly recommend them! Target has a TON of rash guards for kids, and Old Navy also has a bunch for kids, with a few adult styles thrown in, too (I got this one). Amazon has a FAR better selection for adults. Two things to remember: 1) rash guards are supposed to be tight (so they don’t get in your way while you swim), so if that bothers you, try a few on until you find one that’s comfortable; 2) Make sure you get one with UVA/UVB protection. Not all rash guards offer sun protection!
James was like, “No posing, just squirming for the water, bye.”
