I’m tearing myself away from watching the Taylor Swift/Aerobic Dance video mash-up for the 800th time to write this. I really want to know the thought process that went into making that video. I mean, I think it’s hilarious, but was the guy like, “You know what this T Swift song needs? Terrible 80s aerobic outfits.”

Coming Soon…okay actually not so soon
~Annie and James both cracked up at the preview for Minions, the Despicable Me prequel that focuses on the history of the Minions and how they came to Gru. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come out until Summer 2015, so don’t show it to your kids if they’re the types to ask you every five minutes when they can see the Minion Movie (like mine).
~Pixar announced this week that Toy Story 4 will be coming to theatres in 2017. Considering how Toy Story 3 ended, I really don’t know how they are going to do this movie, but my box of tissues and I will go see it opening weekend. I’ll probably bring my kids, too.
Holiday Prep
~Every year I have people ask me where we got our personalized Christmas stockings. They are from the Quilted Stocking Collection at Pottery Barn Kids, and I saw that a large portion of their stockings are currently 20% off with free shipping. If you’re interested in them, snatch ’em up, they sell fast.
~Some of you noticed that I change out the picture frames on my fireplace mantle depending on the holiday/event. For example, during a birthday month, the pictures are just of the birthday kid. I have Easter Bunny pictures up in March/April, Halloween costumes in October, and soon I’ll put out my Christmas pictures.
I have a few tricks to pull this off. Most of my generic frames will let me store three or four photo prints behind each other, so switching the photos is as easy as taking off the back of the frame and shuffling the photos there. I’ll also troll my Target for cheap frames in holiday colors or decor. Yesterday I found a bunch of red, green, black, and gold frames at Target for only $2 each. I’ll likely pack the red and green ones away in my Christmas boxes in January.
Gifts For Hair Lovers
~This book, Braids, Buns, and Twists: Step-By-Step Tutorials for 82 Fabulous Hairstyles, is by one of my favorite DIY hairstyle bloggers, Christina Butcher.
~Hair Chalk is really fun for temporary (as in, washes right out) hair color. Sephora makes some good colors, and this chalk pen set works really well.
~Still loving Dove Dry Shampoo. Great for extending blow-outs, skipping washes, or just adding volume to clean hair.
~Ban.do has some of the cutest hair accessories around. Annie has a sparkly heart clip, and I love their Girl Talk clips and headbands.
~The VIP Pack from Drybar is a great bang-for-your-buck gift set to give to the blow-out lover in your life.
~Moroccon Oil makes hair soft and shiny, and it smells soooo good.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

I’m sorry that you can’t snap your fingers back to the tubal ligation – it is very freeing. But I’m sure a vasectomy is similarly freeing too! I did my tubal during my 2nd c section and my pregnancy hormones pushed me the opposite way to – I will NEVER do this again those hormones are wacky!
Gwensarah says:
I regret getting the tubal ligation.. I had no idea about PTLS and for the longest time I thought I was just losing my mind. If I could do over, I’d probably opt not to get it.. you’ll feel a lot better once the vasectomy gets done though
Erin says:
Had I had c/s #3 with baby man, I would have gotten a tubal. We knew we were done with 3. Since I got my VBA2C, DH got the snip 3 weeks after baby was born. Neither of us regret the decision. I still got an IUD b/c I hate AF and as with the last time I had an IUD, she’s stayed away. By the time it’s time to remove it, I should be nearing menopause if I’m lucky (never thought I’d be happy to hit menopause, LOL!)
Jordan says:
That video is pretty much perfect. I finally caved and bought the whole album, since she’s not giving up the ghost on spotify. I had to finally admit how much I love (and hate) TSwift, which prompted a friend to send me this video: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/02/snl-swiftamine_n_6089948.html
All of the feels. And all of the laughter.
Also: the pizza article is interesting, but Two Boots in Nashville is my favorite TN pizza place. I’m sorry, but a pizza with scrambled eggs sounds disgusting.
And I really hope that frame sale isn’t just your local target because those frames are CUUUUTE.
Am I the only person annoyed about Toy Story 4? Toy Story 3 came out the year I turned 18. I saw it on my 18th birthday, for Christ’s sake. IT ENDED WITH MY CHILDHOOD AND SHOULD STAY THERE!! I don’t even get how they’re gonna do a 4th! Whyyyy can’t we just let it end where it ended so perfectly?!?
I am legit excited about Minions though. Love me some Despicable Me.
Heather says:
Annie absolutely adores Taylor, so I just had to get real zen and accept her into my life, because she’s here to stay. That SNL skit is HILARIOUS, though. That’s exactly how I felt when I heard “Trouble.” I was all, “This song is so catchy…OMG NOOOOOOO NOT TAYLOR SWIFT.”
And I totally agree re: Toy Story 4. Just don’t know how they’re going to do it.
Jordan says:
hahaha that’s how I felt about Begin Again. Since it’s a slower song, I was surprised it was her! It’s one of my all-time favorites by her.
This album though is unrecognizable compared to her old stuff! I was reading through the digital booklet that comes with the cd, and man, TSwift gets deep and philosophical. It kinda cracked me up.
My best friend was going through a breakup at the time of Taylor’s Red album’s release, so it was ALL I HEARD ABOUT for like a month because it was all she was listening to (until they got back together. haha).
Heather says:
But I thought they were never, ever getting back together (like ever).
Jordan says:
Hahahahahahaha that was perfect, Heather Spohr.
Irony of the situation: they broke up (for good this time! I think.) about 3 weeks before 1989 came out. I wish I was joking.
Jordan says:
this TIME article pretty much sums up my thoughts perfectly: http://time.com/3572247/toy-story-4-toy-story-3-disney-john-lasseter/
Toy Story 3 ended my childhood in a lot of ways. As much as I LOVED the story, it was over for me then. Dragging it out to a 4th just seems like a cheap shot to me.
Giselle says:
Totally not going to fix the problem, but for quick anxiety relief, get some pregnancy tests at Dollar Tree. They are just as effective and for $1, you can take one twice a week and still only spend $100 a year. I would say that’s not a bad price to pay for a good night’s sleep. Lol.
Why has Mike not gotten a vasectomy? Are there risks or side effects? I guess I thought it was pretty much completely safe. But I haven’t done much research.
Heather says:
I never thought of dollar store tests! That’s a good idea. As for the procedure, at first it was him needing insurance coverage, and now it just has to get scheduled. I think he was waiting to make sure we were both certain it was what we wanted. Hindsight is 20/20!
Giselle says:
Oh no kidding. There are so many things I wish I’d done that I don’t really care about until it’s too late. Ugh.
Let me know if you can’t find Dollar Tree stores in your area, I’ll ship you twenty!
Have a great week!

I love this new addition to your blog. You save me all the leg work of having to surf for the good stuff myself. You’re kinda like a Cochrane Review of all the best the web has offer. Thanks friend
Heather says:
Oh, thank you! I’m so glad you like it. It’s fun for me to put it together every week, I really enjoy it!
AuntieMip says:
It has fast become part of my Sunday night wind down. You have directed me to some really interesting and cool reads. I don;t read many blogs these days. I stick with yours because of unique features like Surfing Sunday. Nothing boring or trite in Spohrville. Plus Annie and James are friggin awesome! Food for thought…have you ever considered an online book club of sorts? I have always thought that could be very interesting. Easy way to get tons of dialogue going and you don;t even need to leave your own house
Casey says:
I had the Mirena for 3 years, and I could’ve sworn I was pregnant about every other month! Even though I knew it was super effective, I always experienced fatigue, breast tenderness, some nausea, etc before my cycles. I was always convinced I was pregnant! After my son was born 14 months ago, I too debated having my tubes tied. He was a scheduled C-section and it would’ve been easy to just have it done then. But I was worried about the risks / side effects. Luckily, my husband had a vasectomy during my maternity leave! It was the best decision we ever made. I can’t lie – I still convinced myself I was pregnant a few times after the big V But now it’s so nice to not have to WORRY about it. And after dealing with fertility issues, and basically being on BC for so many years, it’s wonderful to have my body back. No more hormones. Highly recommend!
Kylene says:
I don’t mean to be the typo police but this one really had me confused then laughing… “Great books for long fights”
I looked at that and wondered if that meant the books had long fights in them, or if it was something to occupy your time if you were in a long fight with someone… then I clicked the link and realized it was fLights – ahaha!
Meg says:
The photographer documenting the c-section makes me happy. My own birth was a very, very, very sudden emergency c-section (mom’s unconscious, haven’t been able to find baby’s heartbeat for minutes, time to open up!) and the first picture of the event is one of me after I was cleaned up. (I then went and had a few weeks in the NICU, coming home on Christmas Day wrapped in a giant red stocking.) You’ve done an excellent job, Heather, of showing the beneficial side of c-sections — I feel like I see many people forget that the procedure saves lives : I definitely would not have survived if the doctor had waited and my mother likely would not have lived (she’s a nurse, she knows what went on).
I love that you rotate the photos based on the seasons! Do you use the same pictures each year or the most recent or a mix?
