To complete my awesome year of concerts, I saw the Dixie Chicks on Monday at the Hollywood Bowl. This was my third (maybe fourth?) time seeing them, and they didn’t disappoint. They played all their greatest hits, plus threw in a few amazing covers like Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games,” Bob Dylan’s “Mississippi,” and Beyoncé’s “Daddy Lessons.” It was such an amazing show, and I wish I could tell you to run out and get tickets, buuuuuut it was the last night of their tour!! I have to think that they are going to come out with a new album in the next year and then they’ll tour again!

Baseball Blues
~’Tis the season for the baseball playoffs! Mike’s team, the San Francisco Giants, made a valiant attempt in the first round but lost to the Chicago Cubs. My LA Dodgers defeated the Washington Nationals in the first round, so now they are taking on the Cubs. Mike has been a good sport about the Giants being eliminated, and was even passively rooting for the Dodgers in the first game last night. It’s going to be a tough series for my Boys in Blue, as the Cubs have the best record in baseball this year. I want to be zen about the whole thing. The Dodgers haven’t made it to the World Series since 1988 and I refuuuuuuse to let them get my hopes up! However, they’re still doing a good job of getting my blood pressure up, despite my best efforts.
Dressin’ Up
~I’m kinda mad my kids already have costumes, because James in this robot costume would be SO cute! (maybe I should get it anyway)
~I think Mike needs this Yeti costume. I mean, come on.
~I want to get these Pikachu pajamas and wear them to Annabel’s class party. I’m sure she’d be SO excited about that, LOL.

Ahh, I’m so jealous, I wanted to see the Dixie Chicks SO bad! But they were playing outdoors…in August…in Texas…when I was 38 weeks pregnant. So that was a big nope, unfortunately.

This baseball thing is driving me crazy. The Dodgers are my childhood team, but but I have lived in Chicago since 1975 and have suffered the ups and downs (mostly downs) with the Cubs. 1988? Cry me a river! Let’s try 1945!
I want the Cubs to win so badly for my husband and son, who love these Cubs so much despite their cursed condition. But if the Dodgers win, I can’t really be sad. My 70s Dodgers taught me to love baseball, and I will always love the Dodgers because of that. (Plus, half those 70s Dodgers came to the Cubs when I moved to Chicago. Thanks, Ron Cy and Billy Buckner and a few others. Not to mention Dusty Baker managing the Cubs for a few years. So many hopes, so much let down.)

I saw the Dixie Chicks (my second time – first time was in high school) in Vegas in July for my birthday, and it was amazing. So glad I did it. I don’t really go to concerts any more (I don’t live somewhere that makes concert going easy – I’ve got to drive 3-4 hours to get to a city anyone good would go to!), although my mom just got us Coldplay tickets for next year, so… that’s on the horizon!

EPICALLY jealous of you seeing Dixie Chicks (and multiple times too!). They NEVER tour in Europe so even though I’ve loved their music for nearly half my life now, I’ve never had the opportunity to see them live
