I had a great birthday, thank you to everyone for the well-wishes! I got really nice gifts from Mike and the kids, including a shirt from Annabel that she picked out because, as she told Mike, it “looked confident.” AND my parents brought over birthday pie! I am a firm believer in birthday pie, and even though everyone else in my family prefers birthday cake, I love that they always make my pie dreams come true.

Swimmin’ Holes
Okay people. Talk to me about summer pools. I have some friends with Intex pools and I’m really considering getting one, but I’d love to hear the pros and cons from anyone who’s had one! I know the kids would flip over it, and it would definitely be nice to have a pool in the backyard they can swim around in…I could sit on the patio and work while they tire themselves out! Also, I could buy emoji floaties. I have no shame about this.
The Toddler Survival Guide
T-minus 30 days until our book is released, not that I’m counting or having mini panic attacks over it or anything. In case you missed it, we released a trailer for the book that you can see here. We also would love your support on the book’s Facebook page! And, if you haven’t pre-ordered our book and would like to, you can get it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indiebound, Powells, QuartoKnows, and in Canada at Indigo-Chapters.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

The Intex pools are great!! We’re on our third summer with one. The only thing I could see with your kids is that it’s fun to jump off the sides of pools and unless you build a deck or something similar they can’t do that. Our stairs aren’t too stable so jumping off them isn’t the best idea. Just something to think about!

ooh, good to know, thank you!

We have a Coleman pool that is similar to an initex (22′ round)- we love it! Some things we learned- make sure the ground is perfectly level, buy a “good” pool vacuum (I think we paid about $100 for one at walmart) and buy an upgraded pump (initex brand from amazon). Ours is used almost every single day.
Heather says:
Oh awesome, thank you for the tips!
Steph says:
Glad you had a good birthday. I too love pie and am making a key lime pie for the 4th.

That article on childbirth deaths in California is mindblowing. And I don’t even live in the US… Thanks for an enlightening read!

I got to see J. Quinton Johnson in Hamilton a few weeks ago when we were in NYC. He was FANTASTIC! We also saw him leave the theater and followed him for a bit….but my teenage daughter was too embarrassed to ask for his autograph
