Beware the Ides of March! We’re having a major heat wave, and today is the LA Marathon. I have friends running today, and I feel for them – it’s going to be so hot on the course. It reminds me of a few years ago when my cousin Leah ran the marathon in the pouring rain and hail. Parts of the course were flooded, including the finish line! As a non-marathoner, it all sounds bad to me! But I hope everyone is okay today running – I heard the organizers were going to have more ice and water available, and I hope that turned out to be true.

~Disney’s $1 Billion Bet on a Magical Wristband This sounds cool but also overwhelming. It all has to be planned so far in advance! It’s not like this at Disneyland. Yet.

Random Tidbits

~Ashton Kutcher should get one of these portable changing pads.

~My friend Jyl has a seriously amazing family vacation deal to Orlando and Universal Studios. I’d be all over it, but James is still a bit too young for this to be a good option for us (but in a few years, I’ll be the first one to book!).

These Blurred Lines

~As you’ve probably heard by now, a jury ruled that Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams infringed on the copyright of Marvin Gaye’s 1977 song “Got to Give It Up,” and awarded the family of Marvin Gaye $7.3 million. This is decision has upset people in the music industry, with Joe Bennet, Vulture, and BuzzFeed posting great explanations about why. When I was working in A&R, my boss was a really gifted producer and he would spend hours listening to the label’s new music to make sure the upcoming releases didn’t sound like anything else. He taught me a lot about listening for similarities, the differences between inspiration and replication. Putting my personal distaste for Robin Thicke aside, I don’t agree with the verdict. I think it’s going to open the door to a lot of lawsuits.

Easter Finery

~I got the kids some super-cute Easter clothes this week at the Gap friends and family sale (40% off!). Annabel is going to wear this pretty floral dress, while James will wear something similar to this checkered shirt, but in a short-sleeved cotton. Annabel is also asking for an Easter bonnet! So I’ll be looking for one of those…maybe a wide-brimmed hat like this? I see it comes in XL, which is important for that giant Spohr head!

March for Babies

~It’s time for your weekly March for Babies reminder! Have you signed up to march with us in person or in spirit? It’s free to join and only takes a few minutes of your time! Thank you to everyone who has signed up and donated so far – you all are amazing! I still have a long way until I hit my goal of $5,500 this year so every little bit helps moms and babies. You can also use your social capital to share my post about the March of Dimes’ mission, as getting the word out is so important.

Happy Sunday, everyone!
