Sorry for the light posting this week! I actually started a new writing gig on Monday, and I spent the majority of my writing time getting the lay of the land. I’m now writing at Mommyish, a fun pop culture parenting site. Some of you who follow my Facebook page might have noticed I shared a couple articles I wrote there this week, and I’ll continue to do that in the future. I’ll be posting there at least twice a day (you can find my articles here)!

They See Me Rolling
~By now, you all have probably seen the video of the little kids interrupting their dad’s live BBC interview. I have watched it approximately 1,000,000 times and I still think it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. My goal in life is to enter a room with the same amount of swagger as the older child. That kid is awesome. I have seen people assuming that the woman who barges in at the end of the video is the nanny, but I was always firmly in the Team Mom camp. There’s just no way a nanny would have let the kids get away from her. A nanny has one job. On the other hand, a mom has several jobs, any number of which could have temporarily distracted her. Although, in my one million watchings, it looks like the mom’s pants are falling down, which makes me think she was most likely in the bathroom when the kids escaped. Poor lady.
Also? If my kids had interrupted my live, serious news broadcast, I wouldn’t have reacted NEARLY as well as the dad did. Of course, I also would have shut AND LOCKED my office door before the interview started, so.
Feeling Lucky
My sweet little leprechaun, Liam, is turning one on Friday! I can’t believe it’s been a year since he arrived.
We’re celebrating him with a big St. Patrick’s Day-themed party next weekend, and I just assembled all of our gear for the party. The kids are going to wear these ridiculous Leprechaun Dab shirts, and Annie is adding a skirt. Mike is wearing a “world’s tallest leprechaun” shirt, and I got a fun one with suspenders and shamrocks. Of course, the Leprechaun who lives in our front yard has some other treats for the kids, too, including his annual gift of shoes.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

About the story My Mother’s Murder… have you listened to a podcast called Crimetown? It’s all about the Providence mafia of the 70’s and 80’s under Raymond Patriarca. Really well done podcast focused on the mafia side. Very moving to now read this story about some of the people directly impacted.

I was team mom right away too! I didn’t even think twice about it until I started seeing people talking about a nanny! A nanny wouldn’t have been that frantic, that was a total mom move. LOL
