It has been a jam-packed week here thanks to Annabel’s birthday. In addition to party prep and doing a lot of work around the house, I also decided the day before the birthday party was the perfect time to redecorate Annabel’s room. I am the queen of taking on too much! But it all worked out, and we have a very happy girl who had an amazing birthday week.

~Cuban Refugees Fled to the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay a Half Century Ago—and Never Left Wow, what a crazy story.
~Hot Damn, Target Is Launching a Plus-Size Line That Might Be Fantastic The clothes look great, hopefully they actually make it into stores instead of staying online-only.
~Five Things To Know About The Disneyland Measles Outbreak I could have easily made every link this week about measles and vaccines.
~Should Taking Kids Out of School for Family Vacation Be Illegal? Not all learning is done in a classroom.
~Why Some Teams Are Smarter Than Others Let’s hear it for the ladies.
~A Photographer Who Tinkers With Time Really amazing.
~No Time to Think I definitely rely on my electronics to entertain me far too often.
Be My Valentine
~How cute are these gloves? It almost makes me wish I lived somewhere cold enough to justify buying them.
~Annabel says these heart-patch jeans “are super adorbs.”
~A present I gave myself a few months ago was this bangle bracelet with initial charms. I always receive compliments on it (it’s very delicate and not in-your-face MOM jewelry, especially if you mix in other charms), although every now and then someone comments on the initials spelling out JAM, haha.
~I’m turning my eye toward the Super Bowl now. We used to have a Super Bowl party every year but with Annabel’s birthday right before it, that was just too many parties, even for me! I’ve been doing a Whole30 and Super Bowl Sunday will be day 28, so it’s only going to be healthy stuff for us. I’m going to make these slow-cooker carnitas, jalapeno lime chicken wings, spinach artichoke dip (with plantain chips), and burgers with spicy avocado sauce (no bun for me). Who wants to come watch with us?
Happy Sunday, everyone!
