When I went out of town WITHOUT FREAKING PANTS to celebrate my mom’s birthday, Mike and Annie were at home holding down the fort. I sent text messages throughout to see how they were hanging in without their fearless leader in the house.
My texts are in green, Mike’s are in white.
When I got home the next day, Annie gobbled up everything in sight. AHEM MIKE.

This is too funny. It’s nice to know I’m not alone. My husband does the same thing with our daughter. I would think by now he would know to feed her.
catherine Lucas says:
Haha… love the screenshot function on iphone. Great stuff to be kept updated on traveling or home fronts. I am sure that babies would be raised differently (and probably without a lot of worrying) by dads in this world.
It’s so good for a kid to have both, mom and dad… Mine grew up without a dad and I am sure that they missed out on fun things like the above…
Go for the peanut butter Annie…
Becca_Masters says:
Oh My Goodness!! This made me laugh!!!!
bless her!
AmazingGreis says:
Food scmood, who needs to eat when daddy’s letting you watch big people movies?!? Love the pictures of Annie in the texts, she’s so cute!!
Veronika says:
Thank goodness she had some chunk to carry her through the lean days! j/k. I LOL at the exchange.
cj says:
wow. i am laughing soooo hard! thanks for the chuckle this morning.
Ana Brightful says:
LOL Glad I am not the only food police! Sometimes I feel like I have to ask what she ate to see not WHAT she ate but IF! And then I am left feeling like I am becoming my mother…
Jenny says:
I love the iPhone. It is the best toy/ birthday present in recent memory. I am a little surprised that Annie let Mike pick the movie!
Kristy says:
LOVE this post. thanks for a laugh this morning:)
Heather says:
Only one option here Heather, never leave the house without that baby again! Clearly the man can’t be trusted… hee!
I came home once and fiancee B had given the girls a bag of cheddar fish crackers for lunch and pop up pancakes for dinner. Super healthy!
Jen says:
I heart you guys. Your conversations make me smile!
Lisa says:

A little time with Dad never fails to make kids appreciate Mom!
J+1 says:
Hilarious.
I do like that she’s getting early exposure to Brat Pitt.
Adrianne says:
Peanut butter cups, Inglorious Basterds, AND staying up until 1:23am?! Now wonder she loves her daddy! You two are adorable; thanks for sharing that conversation!
Rebecca says:
Did he give her a spoon with a peanut butter cup attached to it?
Elizabeth says:
OMG this made me crack up!!! You guys are hysterical…
Kristin says:
Too cute. Glad they had a good time together even though I question the combination of Inglorius Basterds and celeb bowling.
Ashley says:
That is too funny!! I went to Vegas with my mom when my son was about almost 2. I talked to my husband one morning and asked what he fed Elijah for breakfast. His response? Corndogs. His reasoning? It’s just like pancakes and sausage. I couldn’t really argue that one…at least he was eating. :o)
Stacy says:
Oh man, this cracked.me.up! Please don’t ever stop blogging! Is it kind of creepy of me to envision us as friends IRL? My daughter(6 almost 7 as she would insist I tell you) still begs to watch Annie videos all the time. Infact, my little man has gotten in on the action and wants to watch and blows her kisses (he’s 3…maybe too old for her for right now…) We’d totally hang out and gossip about who looks chunky on US Weekly while giving each other bang braids and stuffing our faces while the kids would play and the hubbies talk their random nonsense of sports… Okay, okay, stepping away from the computer….
{ J } says:
That reminded me of this site: http://damnyouautocorrect.com/. It’s a great time waster, and rarely do I laugh out loud at things I read online…but I always do when browsing this one.
eva says:
this site is WAY too funny!!! Love it
LisaJ says:
OMG, Heather…this sounds so much like the conversations I have with my husband! I am literally laughing out loud.
Caela says:
Cute! Isn’t technology great?! This post reminds me a lot of my new favorite website…if you’re an iphone-er you should check it out. http://www.damnyouautocorrect.com
Glenda says:

Lisa says:
Sounds like a daddy for ya. Super cute.
Miriam says:
Thank you for the morning chuckle… my favorite was “how many times is she supposed to eat people food?”
Courtney says:
Oh my gosh this is too cute! To get your iPhone to show preview again go into your settings>messages the top option is ‘show preview’ turn it back on!
Tara. says:
That was a fun read. Y’all were up super late!! Loved the pants comment.
Jill says:
I love stopping over here. I always get a good laugh and your daughter is so freaking cute!!
Nanette says:
No one can deny that you and Mike were absolutely made for each other.
Love this!
Teki says:
Maybe you’ve mentioned this before, but can you please tell me where you got Annie’s chair?? Thanks so much!
Jannette says:
Is it really 1:30 in the morning?? Yikes.
Issa says:
Because she is a people. Hehehehe, that cracked me up.
katrina says:
Now, that was pretty funny!
I have no idea how you put text messages onto the computer. You are very “techy”.
Angela says:
Hilarious!
MyBabyBeluga says:
I’m pretty sure all husbands are the same…. ahh men can’t live with them and can’t have babies without them
Amanda says:
My husband did the same thing. I go to school two days a week and the first week I would come home and she was starving. He was feeding her some baby food for lunch but maybe like a 2 ounce bottle the whole day. I threatened to quit school since he was starving our baby. Silly daddies.
Sherry says:
You guys are even funny when no one is looking! Thanks for brightening my gloomy day!
Ray says:
LOVE THIS! We need to see more of these, hehe. I love how you can insert a photo with the text. So cool. ;o)
Now I want a peanut butter cup! =P
Dawn @ What's Around the Next Bend? says:
LOVE it!!
Ashle says:
I’d first like to say that I agree with you 99.9999999% of the time, but on the Peanut Butter cup? After 4 kids, it sounds like a *damn* good idea to me. Although when I tell my kids no? It’s just so I can *look* like the good, health-conscious parent – when in reality I just wanna eat it myself. Ha. Snort.
Carrie P. says:
I was looking for a peanut butter cup, but alas, we have none in the house. I’ll bet Annie was so happy when you came home!
Paula says:
When I leave town, now that my boys are older, I stock up on hot dogs and frozen pizzas. It is their staple. And if that is too hard to cook them the Mr. just runs to Lil’ Sleezer (aka Little Caeser’s) and picks up two peps. I ignore it. They are eating. I’ll force my home cooked stuff down them when I recuperate from my trip.
