I just finished one of those weekends that are completely jammed with things and people and no sleep. It was just what I needed. Except the no sleep part. Golly gee willikers I’m exhausted. That’s right, I said it. I’m bringing golly gee willikers back!
Annie and I got to spend time with Jackie! and it was great. Annie loves her Auntie Jackie, she even snuggled with her (an honor, as Annie rarely snuggles).
I know I’ve said this a few times already, but Annie is moments away from crawling. She spends most waking hours in this position:
(look at that giant Spohr Head! It was made for TV)
Today she started rocking on all fours, and she’s perfectly able to rotate on her stomach. I’ll be spending tomorrow doing some massive baby proofing. Annie is THAT KID – the one that will find the one tiny spec the vacuum didn’t pick up, and that spec turns out to be lead from a pencil that broke, and then you spend the day in the ER fretting about the effects of lead in babies and cursing your vacuum’s suction.
Ugh, tomorrow sounds totally exhausting already.
On a completely unrelated note, I realized Halloween is only six weeks away. Mike vetoed my original idea – Mike and Rigby dressed as Ghostbusters, I would be Zuul, and Annie would be Slimer. I personally think it’s genius but Mike said something like, “blah blah blah Annie wouldn’t be cute blah blah.” He has no imagination.
So, I think tomorrow while I go over my “kid zone” with a fine-tooth comb, I will also do a bit more brainstorming on costumes. Or a lot more. Or maybe I can convince Annie to take a nap with me. That sounds like the best idea possible.
And just to throw another random and terrifying thing at you, Annie is in love with Justin Bieber, and I have video proof:
It’s the scariest thing ever.
Melissa says:
Golly gee willikers, she just keeps getting cuter!
Heather says:
well done.
Backpacking Dad says:
I will be forcing Erin to dress up with me as “father and daughter enjoy quiet time and nobody punches their brother in the head at Costco”.
Jessica says:
That has to be the funniest thing I’ve read. Reminds me of when I was little and my brother and I had to be separated at church every sunday. Mom, me, dad, tony. We’re 28 (me) and 25(him) now. Still mess around in church. Dad thinks it’s funny, mom thinks we’re on a one-way ticket to hell. Head punching at the grocery store brings back memories. So does having Mortal Kombat banned for 3 months.
habanerogal says:
I vote for the nap and I love the costume idea Halloween isn’t about being cute it’s supposed to be kinda creepy and Slimer is not really that gross. Rambling off here now but I vote for Ghostbusters.
Elle says:
Love the costume idea! My 17 month old can find the ittiest (not sure if that’s a word but it is now) piece of something on the floor and I just don’t know how she does it. I think she’s part puppy and sniffs these things out.
Kate @ UpsideBackwards says:
Chill, the lead in pencils isn’t lead at all, it’s graphite. But still a choking hazard, so best not to experiment
Awwwwww at the snuggle photo!
Tamara says:
Ditto to what Kate said. And ditto to the awwww too!
Lynnette says:
Had to comment on the Ghostbusters. My husband has a white hearse that we converted to the Ghostbuster machine last halloween. We both have the Ghostbuster costumes. Our then 4 year old wanted to be a ballerina kitty so all of our photos are the dolled up car, us in Ghostbuster costumes, and her in her cute kitty costume. This year, while the 5 year old will be a princess, our now 5 month old won’t have a choice. We are buying her an infant ghost costume. I’m thinking about figuring out how to put the red “no” circle around her in a safe fashion for a baby that puts everything in her mouth. I think this will be my only year to get away with it.
My vote: Ghostbusters for you too.
Melanie says:
Cracking up that Annie so clearly loves JB!
Erin W says:
I was just admiring Aunt Jackie’s perfect eyebrows!!!
Mary Ann says:
One of the cutest baby costumes I saw last year was a baby dressed as a cabbage patch doll sitting in a stroller with a doll box built around the stroller so it looked like she was the doll in the box. My neice was also a lobster in a pot and her parents dressed as chefs. Whatever you decide will be great, I can’t wait to see the pictures!
Veronika says:
How can Annie just keep on getting cuter and cuter? She’ll make the most adorable Slimer EVAH!
ClassyFabSarah says:
Sweet baby Biebs love. How stinkin adorable.
Nellie says:
Adorable, wonderful pictures and hilarious video – sorry, but I simply can’t stand Bieber!
I know that whatever costumes you come up with, you will all look great! By the way, you should enter Annabel in a contest for the Cutest Costume on the website Costume Supercenter – I’d totally vote for her to win!!
Katrina says:
Well now, would you look at that….Annie and my 15 year old daughter have something in common — JB 4-Ever, Baby !!!! Woo-Hoo!!!
drlori71 says:
NOOOOOOO!!! Not the Bieber!
I bet Justin Bieber already uses the phrase “Gee golly willikers”. In fact, rumor is that when Justin Bieber met Kanye West he said, “Gee golly willikers Kanye, you’re a meanie!”
Deborah says:
Happeh bebeh is HAPPEH!
I have Annie’s Halloween costume RIGHT HERE: http://gawker.com/5635267/now-presenting-the-lady-gaga-costume-for-infants
amanda says:
OMG she is a Bieber FANATIC!
Tamela says:
Oh man. Justin Beiber? Barf.
I remember when Peter was an infant my nephew was visiting and watching the Doodlebops. It was horrifying. Guess what Peter’s first FAVORITE show and music were??? The good news is he’s moved on. Way on. Both my boys are obsessed with the Beatles and Peter’s always curious about wh0’s on the radio when Pink Floyd and the Stones are on.
Terri says:
The Doodlebops are SO scary!!!!! Thank God you made it through that phase!!
Terri says:
OMG! I have a video of my son smiling to Justin Bieber too. He has Bieber Fever and my husband hates it!
I just realized what I said… My SON likes Justin Bieber. This is not good. Not good at all.
Lisa says:
I say take a nap and hope that you dream up a super cool Halloween costume while you’re sleeping and then you get to kill two birds with one stone.
Lora says:
I like your Ghostbusters theme idea! Slimer could be cute…
I hope you get a nap in today.
Tami says:
I must say first that I love the picture of Annie with Jackie. Jackie looks so good and pretty as always. The video of Annie had me smiling right along with her~ I love her little laugh!!:) I cant wait to see what all of you will be for halloween. It will be great I know!!
AmazingGreis says:
Bieber fever is not good for anyone!!!! Jackie! looks great, love that photo!!! Hi Jackie!
Elizabeth says:
I love the costume idea, it would be sooo cute!!!
Annie’s got Bieber fever for SURE!
Momma Lioness Michele says:
Heather, I’m so glad to read you had a good weekend. Jackie! looks terrific, hope she’s feeling great too! Annie certainly looks ready to crawl, definitely time to get your home ready. She is sooo adorable in that video, but Bieber fever already? Girl, you in trouble! I see lots of tweeny rock concerts in your future :).
Nellie says:
some costume ideas for your family:
(1) Famous Singers/Entertainers
(2) Super Heroes
(3) Wizard of Oz
(4) Scooby Doo
(5) Yo Gabba Gabba
(6) Gilligan’s Island
(7) Garden Gnomes
(8) Circus Entertainers
Love Halloween and know you will do a kick-ass job of making it AWESOME for you and your family!!
Mary @ Holy Mackerel says:
Not good, not good at all. The Justin Bieber part, that is.
mp says:
My 3 year old has always loved that song! I think she just keeps hearing the word “Baby” and thinks it’s about her!
Amanda says:
I spent pretty much the entire weekend brainstorming our costume ideas to come to the conclusion that we need to have Halloween once a month. These were our finalists:
1. Starwars theme baby as Yoda, me as princess lea, hubby as luke skywalker or darth vader, and the dog as an ewock (hope the star wars junkies will forgive me spelling)
2. Wizard of oz but we didn’t have enough people and creatures for Dorothy, tin man, lion, scarecrow, toto, Glenda, and the wicked witch. Maybe in a few years when I have more kids and or/pets
3. Baby as a rubber duckie, me as a loofah (google how to make the costume, easy, and super cute), and hubby either as a bar of soap or in a “shower” made with a hula hoop and a shower curtain.
4. Me as an angel, hubs as a devil, and baby in a really cute half and half costume they have at party city. Vetoed this one since my very religious sister is already reluctant to let her kids come to my house for Hallween anyway.
5. Shrek, Fiona, and baby or Donkey, Dragon, and Dronkey baby
6. Finally settled us being pirates and dressing baby as a parrot. How cute will the picture of the three of us with Drew (Annie’s Atlanta boyfriend) on his pirate daddy’s shoulder be?
2.
Lisa_in_WI says:
“(hope the star wars junkies will forgive me spelling)”
We forgive you! Besides, the true Star Wars fans I know disavow all knowledge of the Ewoks even being in “Return of the Jedi.” :p
Sarah says:
Oh my GOSH the baby giggles – they are too much to handle!!!!
Kristin says:
OMG could she get any cuter?! I LOVE the Bieber video it is absolutely to precious. And I’ve always love Gee Golly Willikers myself LOL.
Kristin says:
The costume idea is BRILLIANT. Tell Mike he’s been outvoted by the internetz.
Annie is adorable but that Justin Beiber thing needs to be nipped in the bud.
amanda79 says:
Wow, i didn’t realize she wasn’t crawling yet. My little man has been crawling for a month now. He will be six months old tomorrow. I sometimes wish he wasn’t so mobile but he just wants to keep up with his big brother. Enjoy her non crawling days while you can, she looks like she’s gonna get into everything lol!
Em says:
THAT VIDEO IS PRICELESS!! She is so effin cute! Also, what is that awesome contraption that she is sitting in? My friend is due in Nov, and although her baby wont be able to use that for a while, I thought it would be cool to get her some stuff to use in the future (seriously, she is already set for the next 15 years clothing wise, well, if the baby stays infant sized that is…)
Kelly says:
Annie is so cute. I can’t wait to see what you guys dress up as.
Issa says:
Morticia and Gomez Adams? You could dress Annie as that weird baby? I’ll keep thinking about it.
Bert and Ernie? Dress Annie as a baby duck?
Aw come on, now that would be classic.
Nikki says:
Jackie! looks great!! So glad she’s doing well. I’d totally cuddle with her if I was Annie.
LOL at baby beiber fever. Looks like you’ve got a teeny bopper (am I the only one who giggled at the not very crafty pun?) on your hands. Watch out!
Can’t waiiiiit to see her crawl!! Go Annie Go! Just not toward the lead in pencils. Or sockets.
Anyhoo, I’m being random. Have a great day, Spohrs!
XOXO from GA,
Nikki
Jen says:
My daughter, Anabelle, loves your Annabel videos! I showed her this during snack and she started “feeding” her raisins
Lisa_in_WI says:
Don’t blame yourself, Heather. Musical taste can take time to develop in a child. She’ll be giving him the stink-eye before you know it! :p
Fagan says:
well, annie and bieber are close to the same age.
Jess says:
Best comment ever. I give it 2 thumbs way up!
Amanda Joy says:
Mike could be a jar of peanut butter, you could be a chocolate bar, and Anabelle could be a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. So sweet!
Laney says:
It’s so great to see Aunt Jackie! looking beautiful as ever.
And those GIGGLES. I will forgive her Bieber fever because she’s so darn cute.
Marsha says:
Oh My Gosh!!!!!!!! Cutest thing ever!!!!! My 11 year old son is a huge Justin Bieber fan and he thought that was so cute!
Marti from Michigan says:
If I were a baby, I would probably bounce around to Justin Bieber singing “Baby, baby, baby” as well! She is so adorable bouncing around and giggling. Cutie!
Not sure what to say about Halloween……my adult daughter and my 4 grandkids want to dress up as characters from Johnny Depp’s recent movie Alice in Wonderland……we’ll see how that turns out, lol!
Yadi says:
Annie caught the fever! The Bieber fever!! She’s adorable!!
Tara says:
That picture of Annie is insanely adorable!
jess says:
I can forgive Annie for dancing and liking Justin Beebs because she’s cute and giggles and makes me smile. I like Amanda Joy’s idea of the Peanut Butter, Chocolate Bar and Reeses Cup. Homer, Marge, and Maggie Simpson.
I don’t know you guys are really good at at being creative, I’m sure it will hit you. You’ll wake up at 2am (or still be up) and it’ll hit ya and you’ll have a great idea!
Sarah says:
What is with your kids and celebrities?????
Sharon says:
Thank you for the smile
Paula says:
NOT BIEBER! Oye.
Jackie! looks awesome. I literally went “awww!” when I saw Annie sound asleep and snuggled with Jackie!
Babyproofing is nerve – wracking. Totally. Nap sounds so much better.
Amy Collen says:
Love the Halloween costume idea. I wanted the hubby and I to be Roy and Jillian from Close Encounters but he said nooooo…..that no one would know who we were. Ehhh…the guy has got no imagination :P. I will probably end up dressing up as Felicity Shagwell and scaring all of my new neighbors. LOL!
Shana Dumblond says:
In this house, we refer to that pre-pubescent lad as He Who Shall Not Be Named. His songs are like earwigs trying to burrow into my brain and lay their eggs…
At least your husband seems game to dress up with you for Halloween. My husband put on a mask one year…that’s it. I could blame his party-pooperness on his strict Southern Baptist upbringing…but I’m pretty sure he is just a killjoy.
Ray says:
OMG: We have Justin Bieber’s YOUNGEST fan here! LOL! Oh, no! Baby Annie’s been hit by the Justin Bieber bug. Hehe. =P She is so adorable bouncing around like that.
I think Annie should be a fairy for Halloween. I know…so unoriginal. Haha. Though your idea sounded so cool.
Ray says:
OR: in honor of Maddie (and her middle name) she could be a violet flower. Or a music note! Since you all love music. ;o)
Andrea says:
I”m glad my baby isn’t alone in his adoration of famous singers, he laughs and giggles every time he sees a pic of Katie Perry!
