Hey, look at this four-month-old!

length: 25.25 inches
head: 17.5 inches
hair: wisps

Oh my gosh, this boy. He is the smiliest, dreamiest little cuddle bug. Well, not exactly little. He’s in the 50th percentile for weight and 97th for head circumference. I’m getting serious muscles toting this kid around. My cheek muscles are getting a lot of work, too, because it’s impossible not to smile when you’re around James.

His chins and chub are coming in splendidly. Luckily, the extra weight doesn’t seem to be slowing him down. He loves sitting up (as long as he’s leaning against something), looking out at the world. He’s not quite rolling over yet – he’ll stop about halfway through a roll and then looks at me as if to say, “This is good.”

James, month four

He is definitely teething. He puts everything he can in his mouth and chews on it like it’s his job. When he went in for his four-month check, Dr. Looove’s med student inspected James’ mouth, but didn’t see or feel any tooth buds yet. I want them to pop through so he won’t be uncomfortable anymore, although I’ll miss that toothless smile.

James, month four

His favorite person is still his sister, but he has a smile for everyone. When the nurse came in to give James his vaccines, he smiled at her the entire time, even during the shots. I’ve never encountered such a happy person, but I hope he stays this cheerful forever.

James, month four

I can’t believe he’s already four months old. This sweet little boy has made us all so happy.
