I can’t believe that in a month I’ll have a one-year-old.

Ohhh James. My squishy, cuddly boy has had a very busy month. As I mentioned last week, he’s been extremely active of late. That hasn’t slowed down at all! In fact, he’s started taking a few steps here and there – always from one safe place to another (like the couch to the table, the baby gate to Mike’s arms, etc), but steps are steps! James has never been afraid of falling, so I’m anticipating even more bruises than he already has. Last month he got a craaaaaazy-big goose egg on his forehead.

James babbles constantly, but he definitely says “Mama” and “Dada” regularly. I also think he’s started calling Annie, “Na-Na” because whenever she leaves the room he stands at the baby gate and yells, “Nanananananananaaaaaaaaa!” He absolutely adores Annie and just wants to be wherever she is. She still loves him, but since he likes to put her toys in his mouth, she doesn’t always like playing where he can reach her.

He is so incredibly friendly. He smiles at everyone he meets, and he’ll let anyone hold him. No stranger anxiety with this one! He’s pretty independent, but to my delight he still loves to cuddle. Rocking him to sleep at night is one of my favorite parts of the day. He starts squirmy, but slowly relaxes as he plays with my hair. That sweet contented sigh right before he completely falls asleep is the best.

But when he’s awake? He never….

…moving.

Skilled walking is only going to “enhance” this, I’m sure.

AAAAH I can’t believe he’s going to be one! I can’t believe it!
